As a dad, it's very heart warming seeing you spend some time with your daughter while getting after it! The floor is lookin great. Are you going to do a cost breakdown video once your done with the cabin?

Right I’m getting the saus egg McMuffin with 2 hash browns next mackas trip, I love a good iced latte too. 🇦🇺 next time you should get pancakes and chuck some of those berries on it for breakfast. Nice job Graeme

u can do 6 foot knee walls and just reduce the angle of the roof so its not so high. that will give u more usable space and still have height for the loft.

Great to see another DIY'er using reclaimed lumber. Real scores on it being T&G! I made a similar score back in 19' buying 190 sticks of 2"x6"x12' for $400 that used to be a rail fence for a horse paddock. Built a 12'x 20' addition on our cabin with them and love the extra space.

Tip, if you aren't doing this already, measure your distance from the last floor board to the ledger to make sure you're staying parallel. You don't want to end up with a triangular board at the end. Food for thought. Keep it up G-dawg!!!

Happy Canada / US of Eh Day. I highly anticipate a strong floor complete dance compilation. I was a tad disappointed it didn't appear in this Episode. Loved seeing you with the little Sapling on the water bouncy slide. You're killing it buddy. I'm digging some holes for concrete pads / piers for a shed at the cottage. Woodness Inspiration buddy. Came for the floor complete booty shake, stayed for your berries.

Graham, when you are building something with wood, just say casually, "Well, were not building a Rolex here". My friend Brad would say that to me when we were working on my 1955 Lone Star Cruisemaster re-doing the transom board. Ha! I've used that saying so many times since then.

Good all around! I’m trusting you on this A frame, that floor is ambitiously big, this ain’t no micro cabin or tiny house folks. Just an idea but you could add build in a floor level dormer say where the kitchen space might be on one side. Other words keep your 4 foot knee walls but in the location of the dormer kick it up 8 feet. Love the tractor , my neighbors see me running my tractor all over my half acre lot and must be wondering if I’m nuts. I use my tractor a lot like a fork lift, clamp on bucket forks, once in awhile unloading truck deliveries. Moving trailers boats and stuff. I got the harbor freight towable backhoe and I pull it around with the tractor.

Blackberries. We don’t seem to get them in NM. We could live on them all day in UK! I miss them. I wish I knew/ thought of the wedge trick when I was building my A frame. Home Depot wood is “challenging”!
@HikingPisgah

Project is looking good. This time of year it is hard to do anything with the rain and humidity (WNC). But you are doing good. Like the wedge idea. Btw, Know how you identify bear scat? It smells like pepper spray and has whistles in it.
@mjpyro2458
@mjpyro2458 10 ай бұрын
I left a comment on the last video saying you needed at least some bear spray and I see on this one you had already thought of that. I have to say though, that’s pretty deep in the woods, I’d have to take a Glock with me. Bear spray is a close up deterrent. A Glock isn’t. And don’t forget the first aid kit.

As an amateur off grid builder in Alaska bear country I can, in fact, verify the giving a bear a booty whack will stop them immediately. Also, bear booty whacking in front of other bears will teach them all at once.

Question: If you glue the floor can it then expand and contract with seasonal humidity? I have been told that is why you have the tongue and groove, so that it can move more easily with humidity. But the glue might prevent that?
@WoodnessGoodness
@WoodnessGoodness 11 ай бұрын
The glue I use is pretty flexible. I haven’t had issues in the past but definitely worth considering. We shall see!
