Tip - use construction screws rather than drywall screw. They are much stronger and will last a lot longer...
@DaveMedicus
@DaveMedicus 2 жыл бұрын
Yes construction screws would have been stronger. Surprisingly I have not had any issues with the screws rusting or anything.

@@DaveMedicus Works well. It's kind of heavy, all wood. I also need to make a small on/off ramp; It got a little hairy the last time I backed off of it. I could have used another inch length on my legs. ha-Ha.

Are the large 3/4 inch bolts on the sides that you call “lockdown” bolts going through the round ends of the quickjacks? Is this to keep the platform from tipping off of the jacks? I noticed that the official quickjack platform uses a rod all the way through both jacks. Do you feel that the way that you have boxed in both jacks by 2x4s serves the same purpose? Really appreciate this video.

Sam Yakulis yes they are used to hold the quickjack to the stand. I would go with a smaller bolt to help with alignment and movement. The stands don’t move without the bolts but I wanted to have an additional bind point. If the air is not perfect in the jacks they can lower at different rates. This stand works great. I will actually be putting it to good use this weekend.

Nice video Dave! I have a similar video on a platform I built for my Quickjack lift and you should check it out... How does the HF wheel chock work for you?

That Harbor Freight has an odd layout of holes, 3 on one side, four on the other. Did you use all those to bolt it down? I'm mountig my HF chock to my trailer. I think I might have to drill holes in the steel chock that are across from each other to go through the trailer frame.
@DaveMedicus
@DaveMedicus Жыл бұрын
I believe that I did. It would honestly depend on the mounting surface that you are using as to how many bolts I would use. If it is thin material I would go with more.

My recommendation is to ditch the Phillips screws. I hate Phillips screws. I only use the Torx head now. No cam out.
@DaveMedicus

Yes if I were to do it again I would have used those. I haven't had any issues though with the current setup. Thanks for watching.
