Watched this show every chance I got when I was younger.. this episode was the first time I realized Crow and Dr. Forrester were the same person.. threw my whole world out of whack for weeks. Up was down black was white bananas were peanuts!

Ive always gone abck and forth on that like "omg theyre the same person!... No.. wait... No they just sound similar. Do they? Yeah!. No... yeah!" Also i noticed BoBo and Tom Servo sound the same to me. Are they also the same person? Brain guy also sounds like crow. I know they changed voice actors at some point. Was that when that happened?

This episode is probably one of their best. Everyone fires on all cylinders and nearly all the jokes are great. Edit: the grammar police roughed me up a bit, but agreed to let me off with a warning, on the grounds that I corrected my mistakes.

Actually fairly interesting movie storyline. I like how in the end fight, he attacks him before he finishes talking. And to whip a guy across the face is pretty hardcore. Tom servos horse impressions are great

Even if the riffs are killer, every episode is a little better when the movie isn't completely ill conceived with zero redeeming or cohesive story points. I love Hobgoblins but, it's a tough watch if you're not in the mood. It's why This Island Earth (mst3k movie) and The Dead Talk Back are two of my absolute favorites. Both films are still silly as hell but, if I had to watch either of them on their own I wouldn't necessarily turn them off

Evil servo saying crow has orders to kill mike and then evil crow attacking mike with a knife while singing the Star Trek fight music on just the word “die” after the universe swap is one of the funniest bits of any Mst3k host segment imo. Made me cough.

+Adrian Lackey But, even when "Dr Forrester" and "TV's Frank" were in the theater for that 1st part, riffin' away, the 2 did a good job of goofin' on the movie: and don't forget: Trace Beaulieu (Dr.Forrester) also does the voice of Crow, so hearing them doing that part of the theater part, wasn't that "odd". But, I am glad they switched back after the commercial, host segment & by the next "movie sign"...

Your home state STILL doesn't have to apologize anywhere NEAR half as many time as California or New York! Those two places are where ALL the HORRIBLE funding and programming decisions for entertainment are made! The fallout of the disintegration of Hollywood is that the blame for BAD TV and BAD MOVIES can be more evenly spread. It just depends on where the MONEY for all that shit is coming from!!! For the moment, the majority of the money is STILL coming from Cali or NY -- even if it's only being laundered by the producers of those TV shows and movies!

AvengerII Not to mention the further disintegration of Hollywood due to michael chimino getting so much negativity from "Heaven's gate" that Hollywood decided to refrain from allowing directors to have free artistic reign over their own projects and replaced by mediating (meddling) suits deciding what would be best for audiences to view in movies. All thanks to critics bitching about "pretentious" art films, yet praising schlock like "at long last love" and "Grease" as cinema of the highest quality.

I counted at least two "Shut Iris" riffs in this episode! It's really weird hearing Frank say it! I once had a crush on a girl named Iris, but decided it would be better not to ask her out, because if she said yes, I would be too tempted to tell her to shut up every single time she said anything.

It's really like being around your funniest friends at their best moments during something you ended up watching, or were forced to watch, that made it a really funny & memorable time. I've been a fan for 23 years. Still laughing at episodes I've watched so many times already and happy finding new stuff on KZfaq.

1:27:00 Wow! Trace making that reference sure displays his knowledge of comedy history. That bit actor was in the W.C Fields vehicle "The Bank Dick" where the Lomboch Bank is the bank of the title. The MST3K crew were well-read when it came to their classic comedy.

What I find super odd, is that hours before popping this on, I watched a DYK kind of video, who's focus was on a found stolen vehicle that was over 20 years old IN JACKSONVILLE, OR. Then this? Plus me being an Oregonian, what a wacky coinkydink kind of day.

this movie was released in 1948, 3 years after world war II ended, pretty sure most people had forgotten about it... if you were 10 in 1948 you would have been 56 in 1994 when mst3k aired this. you'd be 81 today.

Robert L. Lippert made a western? Is nothing sacred? Anyway, Douglass Dumbrille was well known not only as performer of villain roles, but also as a comic foil in Marx Bros. and Abbott & Costello movies. The only thing i know about Jane Frazee was her name dropped in an episode of The Honeymooners.

Barack Clinton oh what a truly awesome idea! The theme always did make me sad, it meant mst3k was over. When your friends hear it in the future it will bring up feelings of melancholy not only because the best show ever is at an end but because it reminds them of their good friend Barack Clinton's untimely demise

Larks' Tongues in Aspic - you have to be a really hip, big fan of King Crimson -and, no, I don't think there's any connection to Monty Python from that -just a good song , first, when they got to Three of a Perfect Pair, it had 3 parts, but they finally added a part 4, on either Thrak or Construktion of Light, or one of those later ones.

Adrian Lackey Yes - a wonderful journey, it is! Another great one, in a similar vein is KC's 2nd album, In the Wake of Poseidon. It, too is a good album w/which to "trip out" or get stoned & kick back, etc. The song structures on both albums are similar; some of the same musicians play on it -Greg Lake was, I believe, on his way out, and I'm not sure if it was this album-but I think that he only sang on just 2-3 songs before splitting-and I just can't remember who it was they replaced him with -it wasn't John Wetton-not quite yet. Anyway, after you "soak in" In the Court..., see if you can dig up Poseidon, & give it a listen. You'll not be disappointed!

+Adrian Lackey this particular quip wasn't Monty Python based, but they do have many others in varioius movies. It's usually Crow who makes the references. I don't know much of King Crimson, but I do have the ITCOTCK track...it's the inspiration for Stephen King's Big Bad, the Crimson King.

An old favorite, they didn't do many Western films but this one was a doozy, a late 1940's western yet it looks and feels like the sort of hastily cranked out Poverty Row studio oater you saw a lot of in the early 1930s.

+angbandsbane Dr. Forrester & Frank were in charge of Deep 13 (well, mostly Dr. F) - Joel & Mike were just captives in space at the whim of Dr. Forrester...(then, when Trace left, it was Pearl). So, neither of them were "in command"...

Kind of confusing. Because it was Mike that recued Joel out of the clutches of the Mads. So I'm assuming that the exact opposite happened. Mike decided to work for the Mads, hanging around them in that episode so he gets the idea to sent the Mads into space and get rid of Joel. So instead of Mike helping Joel, it's the Mads who help Joel escape. That's just a theory. But if you seen alot of superhero movies you know anything that has to do with time continmim is confusing.

this is on right now on Comet TV Sun 12-18-2016. for once the tables have turned, Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank are the ones forced into watching a movie for a change. Usually it's Mike or Joel and the robots who watch them.

Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank's riffing in the theater was waaaaayyyyyy more fun and entertaining than when "Pearl" did it. I couldn't even finish that episode. Whichever one that was.

Yeah, Frank is also in on Cinematic Titanic. He also had his own show a couple of years ago that focused on bizarre old cartoons, with very adult host segments. Search for Cartoon Dump, it was pretty funny.
