smartieplum I agree with the nostalgia. There is no respect conveyed in modern day tv - people are rude and crude and it's passed off as comedy. I was a kid in the 70's and what I see on tv now (don't have cable so only see stuff at my friend's) is awful! They portray parents as dumb and the kids as smart asses who are supposed to be funny.

Love 'Rhoda'! SO happy to see the episodes on KZfaq. I have great memories of staying up late back in the 90s as a kid and watching these shows on 'Nick at Nite'. I was 14 when this premiered, in 8th grade. I think it was on Monday evenings. Brenda and Rhoda were hilarious, and so was Ida. I loved the eps that had Ida on them. She was housekeeper on McMillan and Wife, probably when she was also Ida. Joe was cute. I can't recall what their problem was, to cause the divorce. Those jean purses and shoulder bags were popular during most of the 1970s. They were of various styles. I read where David Grogh and Valerie Harper were platonic friends off the show, up until he died.

The writers could be so mean to Julie Kavner (Brenda)...having her obsess over donuts and only get dates with her cousins. I seem to remember it got a little better later in the series when she dropped a few pounds, but come on. She didn't look that bad in the beginning. I loved her and Rhoda's relationship. Jeans handbags were very popular during 1973-76, I was a teenager then, and never used a purse then, but remember other females having them. Mom had one, too. That plastic on everything! Imagine sitting on it in July with no a/c. Rhoda is even insecure about Joe's parents. Joe is very cute, looks like Tom Jones, but he reminds me of Curt Willard on The Waltons, who married Mary Ellen. Ida is hilarious on this. I bet the way Ida and Rhoda acted in this ep made him feel as though he was in the twilight zone. He always seemed to like Ida though, despite her snoopy behavior. While single, Rhoda often seemed to be after Joe, to the point of smothering him.

I wish I had a nice mother like the character played by Nancy Walker. Rhoda was sort of the attractive aunty I wished I had in my family as a teenager in 1970s. The actor who plays Joe's father was Alan Alda's father Robert Alda.

+Cara Dickler She said Joe's Father... not Rhoda's father. Yes that is Robert Alda.

Thank you for uploading! I really appreciate it. I'm not from the US and I'm just starting to discover 70's sitcoms such as the Golden Girls, Mary Tyler Moore, Maude, Rhoda, etc. I'm amazed to see and identify some actors who played different characters in different sitcoms. For instance, Nancy Walker also played Angela, Sopia Petrillo's sister (The Golden Girls) Harold Gould as Miles (The Golden Girls).

Ida's neighbours must have loved her hoovering at 2am! People don't cover their furniture with plastic coverings anymore, do they?
