Ah, sweet memories of life, at last we find thee. It's sad, but inevitable. I miss the beauty of youth but our souls will seek out truth in the hereafter. Recently I found out that I have cancer. Whatever happens, I will find the answers I have sought for so many years. It began when I was a child. I will be at peace, but "I" will be in charge. This is one of my fave eps from the show. I watched it new, and when you see it for the first time it has a good mystery to it.And even though it has mystery, it is really funny, too. When new, it should have been shown nearing halloween. People back then thought it was hilarious on sitcoms when people said "Goodnight. JohnBoy". The Waltons were still new then. I never tire of seeing this ep. I always thought Rhoda acted like a prude, and emotionally cold. Even as a newlywed, she never acted romantic or sexy toward Joe. She rarely kissed him. Joe and Rhoda have a nice apt., kinda fancy, and really large. Imagine the monthly rent on that, being it's in NYC. Rhoda and Brenda's old bedroom at their parents' apt. is as it was in the 1950s, in this ep, but when Rhoda briefly stayed there before she married Joe, the bedroom looked totally different. Weird. Imagine being a child or teen and having Ida and Martin for grandparents! All that food, and yummy sweets! They'd be a hoot to visit. This video is like HD, really good quality.

New York city in the 1970s must have a real tough place to live and work. I grew up in Sydney, Australia and it started to be like that in the late 1980s. Thankfully, I have moved out from the rat race to another state where the crime rate is low and the sunshine is free.

It was not as risky as they are portraying it. The area that they are living in is a really rich neighborhood. Really rich people with really expensive apartments and they have doorman that don't let them up. This is a fictionalized account of the area. In real life a door man would not be acting like Carlton and letting people into your apartment without your approval and they would be looking out for you because they want you to tip them big for Christmas and they want to help you with your bags for tips too. There is really no crimes in that area either because there is no drugs being sold. I can't say the same for my neighborhood but her area is the safest in NYC.

If this time capsule room was still there then what bedroom did Rhoda stay in at the beginning of the show and why not stay in the time capsule room? And Brenda has changed jobs at least once in the past 3 years therefore they wouldn't know whether she has been late in the past 3 years. It's little errors like this that drive me crazy. I wish shows had a better memory.

Sitcoms and continuity don’t really belong in the same sentence. The number of inconsistencies in Friends are legendary. It probably started back in the 50’s with I Love Lucy when the address they always said they lived at would put them approximately in the middle of the Hudson River. But it bothers me too.....at 2:24 or so when Brenda knocks on the door, there is an inexplicable lengthy shot on the apartment door with the chain very obviously in place. Cut to Rhoda reaching the door and opening it without the slightest indication of her taking the chain off. It’s weird because they showed the door so clearly with the chain on.

Jeez, I couldn't believe all that food at the breakfast table. I would have felt like barfing, just looking at all of it in the early morning. I never was a breakfast eater. For years, I had a print of that American Gothic painting like Rhoda has in the front room. That boozer doorman used to get on my nerves sometimes, when this show was new, and I was just in my teens then. He was such a moron. I'd think Brenda would know what 3-D glasses were. I knew what they were when I was a child. They used to be advertised in 1970 comic books.This episode is one of my faves. I have seen it several times. Not only funny, but has mystery. Everyone was so funny in this ep. Joe kinda reminds me of Dr. Curt Willard of The Waltons. Rhoda acts frigid at times...Joe said he hated to go, after they kissed, and Rhoda told handsome Joe they couldn't do it for a whole week! Rhoda chased him so much when single, then acts cold in most eps after they marry. Their marriage only lasted about 2 years. Brenda was so funny in this ep.

Sure Rhoda would bring all the drama to a problem like this. I think most people would cancel the credit cards and take a loss on the money and she just got married so she has to get a new driver's license anyway for the name change and she also said that it was expired. Since this is the 70s it is not like the person can go on the internet and buy a bunch of things with the cards and most supermarkets at the time only took cash and checks and it was late at night so she really does not have to worry about charges. Also, with a credit purchase you need ID and the person who is running the card through the machine can obviously tell that they are not Rhoda. She blew everything out of proportion AGAIN!!!

@molliwilson56399 ай бұрын
For one, Rhoda was a window dresser (in addition to making costumes) . Window dressing was then ( and today) a very competitive and lucrative profession ( especially in NYC). I used to live in NYC. Not all, but most apartment buildings in NYC have a doorman especially in the seventies. Crime in the seventies and eighties was extremely high. For example, in the mid eighties , NYC topped out as #1 in the top three most dangerous cities in America. For the last 15 years, NYC is not even in the top 10 most dangerous cities in the US.

I love Ruth Gordon too, but Realistically, Rhoda NEVER should have let Carlton's nutty mother push her into getting Carlton hired back after he let burglars into her apartment!!! And then he was such a jerk to her on top of it!! Wow, they REALLY rang a problematic character for all it was worth on Rhoda and the Mary Tyler Moore Show, didn't they? I'm currently binge watching both shows and I'm honestly completely sick of hearing Carlton's voice or seeing Ted's face.
