I kinda miss the old sr1/2 format where there were 3 gangs and you could take them out in whatever order you want and then you have an epilogue that kinda brings the game's story to an end while setting up a sequal

By the time Phillipe Loren died in SR3, I still didn’t even think Gat was actually dead with how horrifically they handled his death.

Saints row 1 and 2 were made in the years where volition cared about taking risks, innovating and overall creating solid games. They also had a primary focus on the gang based story which mixed satire and silly gameplay together. Take me back to the golden years man 😔

To be honest, I don't really care much about the reboot anymore. At tops I think it can be decent game, fun to play and thats all and at worst, is that is going to be a mediocre game remembered as the game it could have been, but never was

sad thing is they won't learn from their mistakes because most likely this will be their last attempt at making a saints row game. volitions probably going to go out of business in the near future if this gets AoM levels of reception and sales...

I remain faithful. I really like the boss factory and can't wait to explore what else the game has to offer. I gotta feeling that the 25 main missions will be locked at points, an you need to do other things like activities or ventures to continue. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Another thing to point out is how SR3 and 4’s mission counts were fine because ultimately you were only fighting one faction in those games so there were way less characters that needed to get screen time. Whereas Saints Row 1 and 2 had three separate gangs with their own leaders and lieutenants that needed development. The reboot has separate gangs as well but has low mission count so how are they going to give each gang its own fleshed out arc?

The fact that Gangstar West Coast Hustle, a mobile game from 2009 has 50 missions and a AAA title being released today has 25 missions shows you everything wrong with this reboot. YOU HEARD ME RIGHT! AN IOS/ANDROID GAME. THAT RELEASED ALMOST 13 YEARS AGO HAS MORE MISSIONS THAN A AAA THAT IS BEING RELEASED TODAY FOR 60$ ON GEN8 AND GEN9 CONSOLES AND PC. JUST LET THAT SINK IN.

Gameplay looks okay but I’m not interested in any of the characters

Did they say 25 MAIN missions, or just simply 25 missions? If it is 25 missions... it's it and that's that, then yeah... THAT would be very worrying. Hopefully, perhaps there might be a group of side missions with each of the main NPCs in order to build separate relationships with each of them. One thing that I am missing, that I am semi surprised that no one have mentioned yet is the lack of territories... I loved slowly turning the map purple in the old games... Hopefully they replace it with something else that gives a similar sense of progress, of that they perhaps bring territory back in the next one.

I just hope they have some good sound tracks in the game. Sr1 & 2 had the best music in my opinion.. Sr3 had some okay songs. So I'm really looking forward to seeing what music is added in the game.

In terms of length of the missions, I have faith they will deliver. I don’t remember playing a saints row game and felt like the story was too short. They have spent a lot of time on this game and I will give them the benefit of the doubt until I get my hands on it and can make my own opinion. I’m not going to speak on the characters or the content of the story because that is so hit or miss with people rn. I just feel the length is not something I’m not going to worry about.

Considering the only time they responded to any of my tweets was when I questioned their writing ability, in which they responded very defensively instead of informative, I'm guessing they *_KNOW_* the story and writing is garbage, only meant to be "relatable" to young hip millienals with student debt, but millienals like me are old adults now so the whole young hip thing is for gen z, but because they don't understand gen z, they're using things millienals thought were back in like 201x to target zoomers.

What could help flesh out the characters and get you more attached is that in the Broll footage of the hands off previews you could see you can interact with your crew members inside your church base inbetween missions. You saw the boss walk upto Kevin and there was a button prompt. So maybe like in mass effect and the recent forbidden west but then maybe without dialoge choice..

Personally I was excited for the game but now I'm a little concerned ever since they announced the push back i hope the game is at least finished and they tried sticking to the original idea I hope the story is the same and they haven't tried to change it too much to please everyone as I feel like this had postential but I hope they have fixed some of the faults like the damage sponge and got rid of the futuristic tech we saw this game has potential but I hope they have fixed the faults and kills off Kevin and gives us reason to care

I think the new Saint row characters look more like school kids than gangsters. They just don’t match what the game should be like.

I recently bought sr2 and I still enjoy doing all of the side missions to beef up my character and then go after the gangs.

They'll probably flesh the characters out in loyalty missions if they return.

With the criminal ventures I think it might be similar to Vice City where part of getting to the end game might involve having to build your empire and expand business

After watching the gameplay trailer like 10 times I'm unsure how I feel about this game. On one hand it does seem like its going back to its roots on how it used to be with Saints Row 1 and 2, but on the other hand it still has that wacky feeling to it that I am not so keen on. Its giving me Saints Row The Third and 4 vibes which is not a good thing because those games were not good and it just lost track of what it used to be. I wanna give this game the benefit of the doubt that it is the reboot that may seem good, but for now I am just going to hold off on buying it. Maybe I will get it at a discount price I don't know I'm just unsure.

All 4 Saints Row games are short. Every one is between 15-20 hours long, thats it. "25 missions" is not a big deal in the slightest, especially given that this game has vastly more side content and extras then any other game in the franchise. That will make it the longest SR game to date without question.

My main gripe is that, in the game I feel like my character can't convincing be black or hispanic. It's like they chose the most neutral customization options. I understand that not every black/hispanic person dresses the same but fuck I cant see myself in this role playing game. The style is very whitewashed

I feel that shirtless guy is similar to Kinsey/Shandi non serious and can clearly be played well. if there’s lots of car ride dialogue and fun background dialogue I feel the fear of quest isn’t warranted.

*I don't remember where I was originally going with this but ended up being a ramble* Im hoping if the game fails, volution isn't dissolved. I am disappointed of the direction of the reboot and the direction of the series in general since SRTT but if the game fails I want them to see why, I want them to listen to the fans, not just listen but respect the fans not just the fans but the name. Give us a gangster game that has been asked for since SRTT, a gangster game that was teased since the beginning, the development of the game was done in front of an Og Sr backdrop where apparently they've been listening and let's not forget that god damn wall. All they have done is string along Og fans to piggy back off, they did the same with AOM and look how that turned out. I'd be fine with this game if it wasn't called saints row, either actually commit to making a saints row or let it die. Give it the respect it deserves, it's more than just purple and a fluer de lis.

Boss customization was honestly kind of lacking compared to previous titles. Like I can't even form the eyebrows the way I always do them in previous games.

It’s such a shame volition have put money and resources into a game they already know will suck . I worried for the story too , it’s not enough missions, they probably won’t be replayable either … I can only wonder what they even talked about when brainstorming this game because it’s looking less and less like 1&2 and more like 3&4 … wasn’t their goal to move away from this look and to have a realistic serious story … considering this is an origin story of the saints it looks rushed …. I would agree, however in saints row's case i don't think it needs a big flashed out story. I think they're trying to re-capture saints row 3s approach where clearly the story wasn't a huge focus and it was all about how fun, creative and ridiculous the gameplay was.

It's hard to fathom that Red Dead Redemption came out 4 yrs before this game. I was always excited for a new Saints Row game because I always pictured the new one with outstanding graphics with the zaniness of SR2 & 3 and perhaps with a better story since the industry was moving in that direction. The game we're getting now looks like something that would have come out at the beginning of the PS4 lifecycle. I'd expect to see this next to games like Fallout 4 or Infamous Second Son. Not God of War Ragnarok or The Last of Us 2.

THE reason why SRIV felt long is you only have to deal with One Antagonist, Emperor Zinyak, while this Reboot, you deal with 3 Rival Gangs.

not every game needs 90 main missions, saints row is a open world fucked up sandbox, i will for sure have alot of hours just going around having fun without playing missions.

Saints Row The 3rd's Syndicate felt more like 1 Rival Gang with 3 Sub-Groups, & IV's Zin Empire is Antagonist Group.

People want more than what this game actually is. This Saints Row is a game for when you just want to sit down and relax from a long day at work or school and just have some mindless fun. I think this game will definitely succeed in the fun factor if anything.

Well,let's compare what we know about SR22's story versus what we know about SR1's story. We know what's motivating the gangs to do what they do. So let's compare. SR1: The Saints are trying to get rid of the other gangs in the city to bring about peace. The cops are on the take,the chief of police is massively corrupt and ruthless,and Alderman Hughes is a scumbag looking to capitalize on the chaos caused by the Saints. This is on top of the 3 other gangs tearing the city apart in a constant open war with each other. Basically,shit's fucked and the Saints are looking to fix it. SR22: They want to get rich by murdering people and stealing their shit. I have no hope here.

They plan on making game mission shorter is what they've already stated they've also had different commentaries where they posted stuff and pretty much said the f*** you Rockstar has done the same thing when it comes to their media exposure for instance if you go through an interview for Saints Row you're actually see the people talking about oh we're listening we're going to do this we're going to change this and they hold up a sign which is basically mocking the fans and things going to do it they're not going to change anything

Sure it may have less missions but is it really THAT bad as you make it sound? SR1 had around 30 missions and that wasn't an issue to a single soul because there was more than just the story. Not to mention - a quarter of SR3s missions were just introductions/cutscenes. If the devs can make up for it in time and quality, then surely they'll add more expansions sooner or later, right? I just feel stuff like this and their public reception makes people feel less inclined to give their support. Like me. I want the game because I just love the entirety of Saints Row as as a whole, I'm a massive fan, I want this one to do good! But things like this just makes me have less faith and doesn't give me room to make my own opinion cause I keep seeing every fanboy on KZfaq saying how much they dislike practically everything the reboot has to offer because they point out nothing but negatives, exactly like they did with AOM.
