Dan you are a wealth of knowledge and it is extremely rare to come across the level of precision you provide in your videos. True master of the art and it’s clear you enjoy it. I do not follow very many channels at all but yours definitely gets a follow. Would not mind seeing more of your videos when I open KZfaq. You don’t mess around and you know your facts. Better yet facts backed up by real experience. I’m building a late model Winston cup car with a 66 Chevelle body fitted to it. Learning from the ground up and your videos have been a huge help as I’m a visual learner. Many thanks! Mike P.

Great stuff. There aren’t many videos that I’ll actually sit on the couch and put up on the TV to watch the entire thing, but yours are ones that I do. I’m glad there are other people like myself that are very particular about how the builds go together, and believe there is a right and wrong way to do things. My sons both race Jr. Dragsters and last week another family had one of their chassis break, so they were gonna swap that motor into a different car. I grabbed my tool box and went over there to help take the motor out. Every bolt was mismatched, some had washers, some didn’t, a lot of it was cobbled together. Drove me nuts! 😂 I like all our shit to match, and look nice and uniform, and add little details most would not think to do. Anyway, sorry for the long post but I appreciate all the time and effort put into the videos. Can’t wait for the next one.,

Thanks for the videos! I'm a gear head at heart and this type of info I really enjoy. Just because its a vintage nascar doesn't mean the information isn't applicable to many other things. Fuck the haters! Most of them are jealous or trying to get a rise out of you. They get that dopamine hit from bitching about something on social media and waiting for a reaction out of people. It only effects you if you let it. I'm excited to see the car on the track and I hope you make some videos on issues that come up during testing such as setup, tires, cooling, troubleshooting, etc.

Thanks for the videos it’s cool to see how all this works. As someone who buys cup car parts occasionally for my hot rods I enjoy seeing how it all is designed to work. I have been curious about buying cup car calipers and modifying them to work on a street/weekend track car but I am doubtful that there are any pads made for non race applications for many of these brakes. It would be interesting to see a video of your thoughts on what type of parts you see come off these cars that could be used for a street car hot rod application. Thanks again you do great work !

I am confused on the bearing spacer shimming. I would think you would want bearing preload and not endplay to keep the hubs tight when they get hot.
@stockcarsurplus
@stockcarsurplus 28 күн бұрын
It's exactly to opposite, unlike a street car the increase in cornering sideload and temperature will cause the bearing to overheat, expand, lockup or blowout the bearing cage causing failure.
@jacksz28
@jacksz28 28 күн бұрын
We will agree to disagree. I have a TA2 car and run .007 of preload. At .00 preload it would knock the pads back. Maybe cup cars a different since the bearings are smaller?
@stockcarsurplus
@stockcarsurplus 28 күн бұрын
Nothing wrong with a difference in opinion. These hubs, bearings, races, seals and spacers all came from inventory bought from JGR. This setup has more than 100 wins on it, I've used it in the past and I'm good with it.

Not a hater here, just don't like all the notifications subscribers receive! Not just w/ your channel but w/ all the ppl I follow on YT. I really look forward to seeing your next video or your posts on FB. I don't plan to be crawling around a race car, but I love seeing what you do and gaining a better understanding of how the various pcs and systems of the race cars work. I really get a kick out of you pushing back on some of the haters. Personally, I like that you are a huge Toyota fan and push the brand. Variety is good and to hear you speak of the different elements that Toyota has invested in development is quite impressive. Short of a new Corvette, I don't ever see buying another domestic based product again. I don't really follow current Nascar all that much. I'm more interested in the history, what you and your friends do on track day and the prep leading to it and the stories. I love your channel, keep your great work!
