I taught US History for 7 years until this past fall and have a degree in history education. After listening to so many history-themed episodes over the past several months, I was nervous for the inevitable day that the US Presidents episode would come.... welp, today was THAT DAY. I had my notepad ready to keep track of all the corrections and commentary I thought might be necessary, and was bracing for the worst. Folks, somehow y'all NAILED IT! I would happily return to teaching just so I could assign this podcast to my 8th grade students! Not that it's going to help them pass any major exams about the American Revolution or Civil War, BUT it just might spark a bit of enough excitement to get the kids genuinely interested and maybe help them become one of the folks, too. Last thing I'll share: every year, one of my favorite lessons to teach, just for fun, was called "Three Presidents No One Remembers" over William Henry Harrison, Martin Van Buren, and John Tyler. The fact that Bomb-a-deer included the very same useless tidbits in his wikipedia "peer-review" research for this episode is a testament to this podcast's entire vibe. Keep up the great work folks!

I knew what Nate was talking about with "humanitarium" - but Belsnickel's deadpan "Is that where you put your lizards?" and Nate's "yeah"..... ....It all almost killed me. Definitely the hardest I've laughed so far in this entire podcast.

The convos about wanting to quit the gym reminds me of the Friends episode where Chandler tries to quit the gym but they send in someone to distract him. Ross ends up joining so they go to the bank to “quit the bank” and end up opening a joint checking. Good luck quitting the gym. 😂

I’m almost finished with this episode. I’m a few behind now. You need to know how thankful I am for the laughs. The last two months have been an ordeal. I was in the middle of training for my second half marathon when I broke a small bone in my foot and was in a boot for 3 weeks. Right before getting the boot off I became unexpectedly pregnant with our third child. In the midst of battling morning sickness I contracted E. Coli and was in the hospital for three days. Today I’m finally feeling like myself again and have energy back. This episode has many funny moments. I love how the one president could have died from iced milk! Thank you Nate, Aaron, and Bates for making me smile and laugh again ❤️

Nate saying "humanitarium" and Ol' Bumpy Waters unable to piece together that he's attempting to say "humanitarian", is like an amputee being asked what happened to their arm and they go on to discuss the scratch on the arm that's still attached. Everyone knows exactly what he meant, it's just way more enjoyable to listen to him try to self-correct for a few moments. Love the show! (Bought tickets to see Nate in Spokane, WA back in November of 2019, we hope to finally cash those tickets in for the show in May of 2022...these Folks aren't quitters!)

Nate, you Bratwurst and Sauer-Gout have made my days as a UPS driver unbelievable! I typically listen to ESPN all day while driving but have since dedicated a couple of hours a day just to listen to you three. The downfall to that is when you are walking up a driveway cracking up while a man simultaneously (good luck with that one Nate) falls off of his porch. He assumed I was hysterically laughing at him and proceeds to want to basically go full blown Andrew Jackson duel on his front lawn. When I apologized to him and told him I was listening to a comedy podcast he said, "Yeah, what's so funny about it?" I told him it was like the cast of Seinfeld were from Tennessee and his fury immediately disappeared and he said..."Ahhh Nateland!" And just like that crisis averted! Looking forward to seeing you in Peoria Nate and hopefully again later on in Nashville, keep up the great work fellas!

I grew up in Illinois and as a freshman in high school Barack Obama, who was senator at the time, came and spoke at our school. Fast forward to my senior year and the day after his inauguration my principal gets on the morning announcements to commemorate the day, saying with all sincerity "4 years ago Barack Obama spoke here and after his speech a student even asked him if he would ever run for president. Afterwards I told him, 'you know Senator Obama years ago another senator visited York High School and things turned out pretty well for him, that senators name.... was John F. Kennedy."

So much good stuff might need to do a part 2. I’m surprised Aaron didn’t make more references to our favorite show, The West Wing. Fun fact: Nixon is the most recent President mentioned in TWW and the election years are 2 years off due to the fan theory that Nixon never tapped Ford for VP so a special election was held setting the timeline for Bartlet to become POTUS. I absolutely love the show and since I’m a recent fan I don’t have to wait every Wednesday I can catch up on old episodes. Nate, Aaron, Broadstokes, keep doing what you’re doing.

I watched Nate struggle reading emails and I questioned why they forced that poor man through that horrible experience. Upon hearing he is dyslexic and ignorant of large parts of the known world I am so proud of Nate for just persevering and pushing through to the success. I’m now focused on discovering what the heck happened to breakfast that would cause him to be even more damaged than Nate. Lastly I hope that Vanderbilt will bestow a Honorary Doctorate on Nate so he can tell Brian and Aaron to kiss his grits.

I've read OK (o.k.) comes from an abbreviation of "Oll Korrect," a deliberate and trendy misspelling of "All Correct." These misspellings and abbreviations were a trend with the younger crowd in Boston in the early 1800s. It was then adopted and used as part of a rallying cry by supporters of Martin Van Buren.

Nate, your show in Cedar Rapids last year was the last large event my girlfriend and I went to before the world shut down. Before the show we were in our seats talking about beer and I mentioned how my boss always talked about how much better Guinness tastes when you get it straight from the brewery in Ireland. I said I always cringed when she said that because it sounded pretentious. The woman in the row in front of me turned around and said, "I've actually been there - it's true, it tastes way better." She wasn't mean about it and I think I just said, "Oh, I guess I'll have to try it." I still physically cringe when I remember that moment though. When I saw your vlogs a few weeks later I noticed you golfed at the simulator my brothers and I went to the day after your show AND you encountered the resident bats at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines. They also terrorized Tiny Meat Gang when I saw them there in fall of 2019. Love the podcast guys - keep it up!

My favorite part is when they talk about the first sign of the presidents finally being respected. “Some little girl tells Lincoln, you have an ugly face!” 💀

Aaron really seems to be a fan of the west wing and aaron sorken. Seems like I’ve heard him bring up the west wing on several occasions.

When Aaron asked what item they'd want in the oval office, the first thing that came to my mind was Sue. Great minds think alike.

Y'all should do a baseball episode. I know y'all did a sports episode but there are a lot of crazy baseball stories and characters including the great comedic genius of Bob Uecker. Anyways love you guys and go Braves!

Nates so funny cause he will come up with little bits on the spur of the moment most comics aren’t really like that atleast not in that way where he turns a whole story into it like about the body guard. I have a similar since of humor maybe that’s why it comes off so well! Great job nate! Brian does a great job of keeping the podcast rolling. Aaron seems like he’s still trying to find his place lol or maybe nate just has him in tears half the time!
