Because you have educated us on the minimum nutrition levels needed for our different-aged pets, my guess is, we all immediately knew what your overall opinion was on all their varieties. After I first heard your "all life stages or not", then looked at the calcuim/phosphorus levels and how they compared to the standards you have ingrained into us, I knew they were losers.😁 Keep 'em coming.

I'm sure you answered this before, but I have a question concerning dog food, is it safe to switch between flavors when feeding a wet food, beef, chicken, etc. or is it safer to stick to one flavor? I've tried searching through Google but I can't find a definitive answer, everything I've read says it's good to switch flavors or it's bad to switch flavors, but they don't explain why it's good or why it's bad. Can you recommend a site or a video that will help me out? I currently feed my dog three different flavors from the same food brand, I just want to make sure I'm not going to cause my dog any issues.

Switching foods frequently is not inherently detrimental but it’s not ideal. Exposures to multiple diets can increase the incidence of food allergies, can make finding novel protein to treat said allergies difficult and encourages “picky eaters”. Also changes in diet can cause pancreatitis and GI upset especially as a pet ages. Because it serves no purpose and can cause issues, there is really no reason to purposely rotate a pets diet as long as the diet you are feeding is the proper nutrient profile.

Thanks to your helpful advice and scoring method, I finally found a dog food for my dogs that I am super happy about that IMO are 9 and 10 on the scoring chart. Primal Kibble In The Raw Puppy, Chicken, Chicken Small Breed, and Fish & Pork recipes. I would love to see your analysis on those 4 recipes and see if you come to the same conclusion. They have all the info needed on their website. Price aside, I think these are winners!

Awesome! I got the Puppy and Fish and Pork Recipes. So I put a greater emphasis on those recipes for my dogs. I hope that helps.

Oh no! I did not realize that! The puppy recipe and the fish and Pork recipe hit most of the positives with that exception. I guess I'll evaluate them once they finish these bags and look into some other options. Thank you so much!

I'm not an expert by any means in processing and how the formula may be altered by cooking, but I wonder if you microwave it or cook it to the correct temperature if that would be good enough to remedy the food safety issue?

Thank you so much for your channel! I have just recently changed my husky back to purina proplan. I feel into the marketing and hype that kibble is back, first five ingredients, corn is bad, and vets get kickback..yada had a yada… I was feeding him Earthborn Holistic Unrefined Smoked Salmon and he kept having excessive burping and every couple of weeks vomiting yellow or white bile. I realized the food was just too rich for him or it just had way too much fruits, veggies and the ancient grains. After starting to search again, I came across your channel and the pet food puzzle guys channel and my eyes were opened again to Purina and science diet. Thank you again for all your reviews and educating us about the foods.

You have been a great help! I was stressing about his sensitive stomach and I think he has issues with chicken, so I was worried about having to change foods again. You really helped me. The Earthborn Holistic that I was feeding was an all life stages and when I heard you talking about that, it just made so much sense. His blood work has been great so I am glad that the food had not affected him@@AnimalDocRea

Can you please review Pet Supplies Plus’ Redford Natural dog food? Ingredient wise it looks fairly similar to Science Diet sensitive stomach & skin. Please review REDFORD NATURALS CHICKEN & BROWN RICE! Thank you!!!!

Do you do nutritional consultations? I have shared custody of my pup and my ex thinks that the recommended brands such as purina, hills, etc are bad and pay off vets (which I know isn’t the case) but hoping i could have assistance compromising and finding a good boutique brand kibble!

I only do nutritional consultations for my actual patients. But I have a playlist of good options (foods scoring 7 or greater) and I do general food label analysis here on request. I’m sorry you are in such a hard spot.

I don’t really make recommendations because everyone has different needs and circumstances. I’m more about educating you to and a good decision for you. I do have everything broken into rankings in my playlists and i kinda guess I recommend the ones that score 7 or greater

I just don’t understand how these food companies are overall so irresponsible to not make sure that the food has the proper nutrients. It really is sad not to have the best interests of the animals in mind. Kind of upsetting as a pet owner how many potentially sick animals this is causing. Pet owners think they are choosing something good for there pet. Not everyone is lucky enough to find these channels or not all vets advise so accurately when it comes to nutrition.

I think its important to remember that on this channel, I am providing you reference to optimal nutrient requirements. These are not AAFCO and falling out of the range does not mean the food will make your pet sick. Numbers outside the range are not deadly, they are just not PERFECT. They are described for the general population making the assumption we are feeding a normal, healthy animal. Many variables can contribute to the overall outcome, I want to show how to use a logical and data driven approach to making decisions so that the emotional manipulation used by marketing companies do not drive to spend your money on romantic fantasy and then not have the money you need to actually provide veterinary care when the time comes.
