Happy Feline Friday. Tiki Cat was one of the foods I tried after Panda got well. I fed After Dark Chicken and Beef. I emailed them about the level or mercury and other heavy metals. They replied quickly, but no free stuff! I switched off this food before I learned about calcium and phosphorus. The cats and I are having chicken for lunch (it’s cooked) If you weren’t so far away, I would offer you some. Very informative and entertaining video. Cute top.

Happy feline Friday!! I'm LOVING these videos! Between you at the pet food puzzle guy I'm learning so much. I truly appreciate you both. I tried my cats on Tiki cat, unfortunately they weren't fans of the brand. I have them on science diet light ( They're both 14 lbs lol ) so yeah, I'm hoping that's a good option for them along with Hills WD multi benefit. I'm wondering if at some point you could do a deeper dive on Raw for pets? I did have my cats on raw ( it was a nightmare lol) between having to put 10000000 toppers on the raw to get them to eat was crazy . So now, after watching you and Glenn I have the right diet. My daughter still has her blue heeler dog on raw, if when you can give us more info. We were both drawn into all the social media about raw and listening to all the wrong people lol. I give my cat Alice Hills kibble and wet (sensitive skin and stomach), but on Saturdays only as a treat, i give her Tiki Carnivore dry and shrimp canned.

Another informative video!!! I used to feed this brand but my (spoiled) picky cat quit eating it. I have found it difficult to find a canned cat food that fits the nutritional profile you use and recommend. Their SD dental kibble does though. My vet has encouraged me to keep feeding this to both of my cats and it actually passes the picky cat test.

19:32 - ah, I asked for blood works today because Zarya is on a high-protein high-fat diet but then they said it's not necessary until dog is over 7 years old and the company I feed isn't as bad as some of the other brands

To be fair to the vet, we have a shortage here and there's too many pet owners and town isn't nice enough to convince medical workers to move north of Edmonton

It is by Bobby Flay the Chef. He made the food for his Mane Cat. It has been around for a few years. I have been feeding it for about 8 months to my two 12 yr old female cats.

Love your videos and it's great that you've been reviewing a ton of diets in one video! As someone who has a Persian cat and another longhaired cat, all these would not work for me as they are extremely low in fiber and thus increase the risk of hairballs let alone other digestive issues. I think the low fiber thing isn't intentional in that I don't see companies marketing low fiber or owners demanding it, but it seems to be a byproduct of the low carbs trend. Just because something isn't necessary, doesn't mean cats cannot benefit from it.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm allergic to cats and Siberian Forest Cat breeders are the only ones who test to see if their cats have low trace of Fel-D1 proteins

@@ZaryaTheLaika All cats produce Fel d1 in their skin and saliva. Siberian and Balinese are the only two breeds known to produce less Fel d1. Probably does not help you. My two cats have started shedding, so I will be doing a lot of brushing the next few weeks.

I haven’t looked at the numbers specifically ( hillspet.com has them all listed on DMB) but from what I remember those are all pretty similar if not essentially identical

These foods are also low calorie, so cats would be consuming more minerals on a per calorie basis

The standards are based on diets with a ME/kg between 3500 and 4000 to account for this, otherwise you would have to do a conversion by creating a multiplier. You can also do the evaluation in a per 100 kcal basis but you will find it hard to ascertain these numbers from most companies.

In cats it’s not as important as in dogs. There are a few reported cases in cats, but not nearly the risk as in a dog

Didn't Tiki brand have several recalls through the years? I'll stick with Canadian/U.S. pet food (not feed)

Not sure. Recalls are ultimately an economy of scale and most often times statistically insignificant in the greater picture

I feel that for cat food, grain free should not lose a point. Cats really don’t need much if any grains in their diet. “Cats prefer the tastes of animal fat, protein hydrolysates (digests), meat extracts and certain free amino acids abundant in muscle tissue.” “When ingesting prey, wild cats avoid consuming plant materials contained in the entrails” SACN page 363. “adult cats have very low hepatic glucokinase activity and a limited ability to metabolize large amounts of simple carbohydrates.” SACN, page 366. I could not find any specific references to grain or grain free diets for cats in the book. 🦁
