I don't do well with explaining anything and if I don't have to go into detail about anything I won't haha! I wanted this to be as realistic as possible and to know I am not the best interviewee. My answers may not be the best for you but hey...it always seems to work for me :) Comment below what common questions you get asked in more experienced interviews

For the people who are wondering what kind of interview questions and interviewer will ask: What is the difference between eBGP and iBGP. what are BGP route reflectors, what do QnQ's accomplish, If two outages were to occur, one smaller then the other, which one would you solve first? How many vlans can you have on a switch with the extended system id? How would you start your troubleshooting process? Were some of the questions asked during my network engineer 3 position at a service provider. I have no experience, no certs, and a two year tech degree but was able to pass due to soft skills and technical knowledge that I learned myself (Be the person who you would want to work with for 8 hours a day everyday). Job requirements are bullshit, apply anyway, to hundreds of networking positions. A lot of of interviewers will ask how do you start troubleshooting or your troubleshooting process, I usually say I gather information, use the OSI model as a reference, and either use the bottom up methodology or divide and conquer methodology.

I know for a fact that anyone I graduated with a BS in networking from uni of southern miss wouldn’t be able to answer most of these questions. If you want to go into networking, get your own physical gear, self study for the CCNA. If you go to college for 4 plus years, you’ll end up forgetting all the classes you took, I did the Cisco classes spread out at a junior college the first two years and no one understood what they were doing cause your to busy studying history and crap on the side as well as other technologies. Then at a 4 year level, you start learning C++, Python, Bash scripting, SQL, Linux. And when it’s all said and done and you complete your degree in networking, all you know in networking is how to unplug a router, plug it back in and cross your fingers. Stay away from college, 100% scam.

Facts. Get your certs and convert them into college credits later. And work somewhere that has tuition reimbursement while getting your certs don't. The find a new position once your are ready to move on. I just passed my CCNA and I am still doing labs on packet tracer so I don't forget anything. Now I am just waiting for the right opportunity to present it self career wise. CompTia Security+ also needs to get done. Good luck everyone 👋🏾👋🏾👍🏼👍🏼

LOVE the DORA reference. Never heard of it until now. I haven't interviewed in a hot minute for a pure Network gig in a while but one common Entry-Mid Level question I always get is explaining the 3-way handshake and explaining what happens in those 3 steps. Love the content as always as I ALWAYS *like* before I press play lmao. Keep the quality and fire content coming! 🔥

I really appreciate these videos. I'm have been self teaching comptia and ccna. I just took advantage of the military vrrap program to start school and get a little more structure in my learning. I haven't worked officially in IT but have a passion for it. These questions give a good insight to what employers may be looking for. Please keep your channel going. I learn something from ever video you post.

Turning it around on them for that question about accessing the network is really good. It shows you 10 are paying attention and not just reciting textbook answers and 2) think things out before going through.

Great stuff Lise! It’s always helpful to hear the technical questions other folks have been asked. I interview for a few jobs per year. One reason is to keep my interviewing skills sharp and another is to make sure my technical skills are still current, based on the technical questions I’m asked.

Some interviews are tough and others are more manageable, it depends on the interviewers...they can be reall AHs sometimes. Never been asked the DORA question, but I have been asked the TCP/IP and OSPF question before. Cool video, enjoyed it indeed 👍

Interesting to hear your experiences. Obviously every interview is unique ... or should be if the interviewer is listening to you rather than just ticking off questions! The job of an interviewer that's even vaguely competent is to make you feel comfortable. The goal is to find the areas that you're strong, and how you react when challenged ... and you can't do that if 1) you're feeling stressed or 2) they're not listening!!

Appreciate you for sharing your experience of the questions you got during your past interview. A little bit of story (or whining) about my journey in networking world. I joined my current company in south-east Asian country last year (before the pandemic happened). I was expecting questions in general like what you have shared in the video, but to my surprise, the interview was strenuous and intensive. Instead of trying to know each other, the interviewer was very critical and apprehensive, first criticized my resume, asked me of how confident I am with my networking skill and immediately gave me a multi-tiered scenario-based network situation that you have to explain/troubleshoot, which after you have answered (right/wrong), the interviewer will proceed to give another question/scenario-based on your current answer until you are totally stuck (again, in a very aggressive tone, along with constant criticism coming out of the interviewer, it was more of an interrogation than an interview); he expected you to fail the question at one point. To make it worse, his English was heavily accented so the middleman who arranged the interview has to "translate" it for me. Overall it was a very stressful interview, but nevertheless I got the job, albeit the daily task is very unorganized and many internal process that has slowed down our work tremendously, not to mention that they expect you to know things outside the job description without any guidance, to the point that I hate networking that once was my dream when I was young. Contemplating to find a new job but the country's restriction of foreign worker has made me hesitated to do so. I am thinking if anyone in the comment section from different part of the world is having different experience during interview/after you start your job. Please share your story/opinion. :)

It really depends on the interviewer. I have been in some terrible interviews where I told that I have not worked with this technology yet but I would love to learn those and that stupid interviewer kept asking question from the something.

In my experience for more entry level or associate roles there are usually a few things they always ask about: DHCP (how would you change a static ip to dynamic on windows or something like this.), explain DNS, why cant I reach a website? (they are looking for your troubleshooting thought process, there may not be a specific correct issue in mind), 3 way handshake, and usually something about the OSI model layers 1-4.

PVC is a virtual private cloud computing in another network, IPsec-VPN is site-to-site VPN is connectivity between two or multiple routers using VPN-Tunnel to communicate creating an encrypted link. "Thank you for showing us how was your interview." I have been having interviews and I had answered all questions is hard to get the job opportunity. I'm falling behind. Maybe is a lot of competition in the market. you can answer all questions but at the end, they make the decision because they see other users competing for the same opportunity.

Going for an interview tomorrow. Studied CCNA but never went for certification because it was a course that was offered and I took two semesters of it. I am all over the place in my career from computer engineering to software engineering. Jack of many trades and master of none. So I was selected to go for an interview. I don't know how many people got selected or if everyone is who applied is selected. Cross my fingers and hope that I am the only one and they are desperate for just someone. Forgot to mention that I took the course in 2002, yes it was almost 20 years ago. Just going to try and pretend I know it but it's probably not going to be easy to do. Forgot so many was involved. If only I have 3 months to prepare instead of 3 days.
