Is Nvidia's GTX 770 still good in 2017?
Today I benchmark the Nvidia GTX 770 in some popular First Person Shooters @ high + ultra settings to find out if the Nvidia GTX 770 can still play games? This graphics card is cheap in 2017, so let's find out if the GTX 770 can still game in 2017?
Crysis 3, Fallout 4 & Doom 2016 game benchmark on Nvidia GTX 770 @ 1080p high & ultra settings.
Crysis 3 @ 1.21

When from a GTX 560 to a GTX 770 4 gb VRAM. And i could not be happier. Picked this one up for 80 euro's!

erwin bosma picked it up for a good price 👍 and can probably push this a little harder with 4GB's. The 2GB variant struggled most with doom at high settings and BF1 on ultra, definitely a vram issue, but your 4GB should be fine on those titles.

I picked up an old and well outdated gaming rig from a friend of a friend for a tiny 200 Aussie Dollars (160usd, 112gbp). It has an i3 3460, GTX 770 4gb, 8gb 1600 vengeance ram, and a 2tb hdd. This PC was so cheap it may as well have been free, since 2 new PS4 games would cost me at least as much as I paid for the whole PC. Despite it costing me less than half the price of a new PS4, it absolutely destroys my PS4 in terms of performance. I'm now trying to find a good deal on 2 8 gig sticks of decent ddr3 ram, and a good gen 4 processor. That way I can keep this PC a budget rig, and get as much performance out of it as I can. Then I'll game on it while I save up for a proper good PC. :) So TL;DR: I've been pleasantly surprised with the performance of my 4 gig 770. It's allowed me to dump console gaming for glorious PC gaming.

I have the EVGA 4 GB model of this card and I am able to run Doom on ultra at a steady 60 FPS. Battlefield 1 I run on custom settings with ultra textures and mixed high settings @ 60 fps.

oDieseLz Yea the 4GB variant is definitely better for today's games but when I brought the 770 there was a massive price difference between them. If they're the same price go for the 4GB version.

Actually picked up a GTX 770 2GB with a GTX Titan cooler on it for $100. Upgraded from a reference GTX 670.

Ive been using mine since summer 2013 quite faithfully paired with an i5-3570k. I kind of lost interest in modern games as they have been somehow borring and cut/paste of things i have already seen so im intending to keep using my comp for the next 3 years no changes. Hopefully next gen games offer a strong incentive to upgrade. Id like to see a realistic fps (at least mechanically) that simulates life well and possibly offers some open world multiplayer soon. Or at least half life 3 and team fortress 3. But i geuss thats all a long ways off. I used my gtx 770 recently to play ps2 emulated mgs3 at 1080p and it looks better than it ever did on my ps2 back in the day ill tell you that much. Emulation of newer consoles will hopefully be possible in 5 years and will be readon enough to upgrade, but for now the gtx 770 is a great card for me.

I agree that especially AAA titles seem to have stagnated with little progress in terms of new experiences. However I really am looking forward to the release of Monster Hunter World in Early 2018. I played Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii for over 2000 hours before getting into PC's, so I'm glad it's coming to PC.

Yea they're still good for high settings 1080p for most titles. I'd hold out a little longer GTX 1060 is still very expensive, however GTX 970's are starting to sell for much lower now and offer around the same level of performance and actually better when overclocked.

My EVGA GTX 660 Ti FTW 2 Signature just died 2 days before Christmas so I decided to get an EVGA GTX 770 SC w/ACX Cooler for 80€. The upgrade was totally worth it! Having ~100fps in BF1 @medium and a performance boost of ~20%. After a BIOS upgrade the card runs pretty silent. I think this card is still in the top 20 of all Nvidia cards at the moment with almost the same performance like a stock GTX 590. Technically it would've been a ~20€ upgrade if my GPU didn't die on me.

I just got this card for free from a buddy :) I’m going to pair it with a A10-5800k. I currently am running a 400watt psu, will I need to upgrade that to run it effectively?

Ryan Nice, there's no better card than a free card. 400 watts is on the lean side if you want to overclock I suggest getting an EVGA 500watt 80+ white or better. If you keep it stock settings you'll probably be ok.

Shaon14 Arafat Thanks for subscribing 👍 if they're all the same price my money would go on the R9 280X (Basically a newer rebranded 7970). This was my first ever GPU and it's slightly better than the HD 7950 I reviewed. Your English is fine :)

That Doom game made me realize how stupid it is... If the shot gun doesn't kill the moster, why would a punch to the face kill it? I get a knife to the brain works, but a punch???

I had to sell my Rx 470 as my cpu failed and i got £230 which i'm happy with and i managed to get a GTX 770 Palit Oc edition for £60 and since i need to withdraw £40 out of the £230 i've mananged to get overwatch and an i3 6100 a downgrade from the 6400 but i'm really happy

Yea the GTX 770 is stiill good in 2017, just watch the vram if you mod games or push high/ultra on some titles otherwise the stuttering can be pretty annoying (if you have a 2GB version)

Twisted Skinz Tech Okay i'm not to bothered as long as i can get playable frames and do you think i could apply an overclock?with it being a triple fan card also would it be better to change the thermal paste since it's used?

Daddy It's always good to change the paste if you can and overclocking will push it's performance higher, you might get a higher OC than me mine was pretty average. I recommend MSI afterburner if you're going to OC it works well with most Nvidia cards.

Twisted Skinz Tech Two weeks since i got the card i ended up with a palit oc 770 non jetstream after cleaning and changing the paste it runs all my games at high to ultra at around 55-65c but overwatch makes it shoot into the 70s and sometimes 80 at max so i have to run it on max fan speed but overall a great card for the money

You can barely overclock the 770 which is a shame, I have the Twin Frozr 2GB edition in which the highest clock is 1280 MHz. You can overclock the memory frequency pretty high but it doesn't affect my fps in games.

i would hardly call those Doom 4 FPS a minimum requirement , they always push those in hope to sell new GPU to ppl that don't really care or are that good in tech . Gtx770 can run doom 4 with half of it not working and it would still be playable . Personally am running it on gtx950 , and that is what i would call minimum requirement , thos 750/650 maybe able to run it , i cant know how well would that be , it is MEgatexture , probably not optimised for 1GB GPUS , lot of 650 and 750 are 1GB GPUS that would be hard on FPS

My brave gigabyte r9 270 died yesterday inexplicable, so I think that the 4GB version of this gpu is my only solution, considering that even non ti gtx 1050s are over 150 euros...

Gabriel Perianu Nvidia's GTX 670 is well priced on the second hand market at the moment as well. I reviewed it in some pretty demanding titles and it held up alright. Although if you can get a gtx 770 4GB it will be a bit more future proof with games like Battlefield 1 and Wolfenstein 2 pushing Vram limits well above 2GB's. These seem to be selling for a lot more than the 2GB versions at the moment and Radeon GPU's are a definite no no at the moment even the HD 7950 is selling for over £100 easily.

As in all my tests on my main system the Superflower Golden Green HX 650 watt 80+ Gold PSU, it's overkill for this card though, a decent 500 watt 80+ Bronze would be sufficient.

Bro, the minimun specs for D2016 is a GTX 670, considering the GTX 770 outperform a GTX 680...

Markralf Agreed the GTX 670 is the absolute minimum specs required, but the 770 isn't a great deal faster in today's games. According to Tom's hardware there is an average of 5.5% from 670 to 680 and the 680 and 770 are essentially the same card they both share the same GK104 architecture, but the 770 is clocked higher. The 2 GB's of Vram is going to be the limiting factor on either card at ultra settings on Doom 2016.

Another thing i want to ask you is that, comparing the 7950 with the 770 which one you prefer? In terms of performance, raw power and overclock capability and why. Thx for the repply, you count with my subscription and my thumbs up. PD: I've got two Dark Souls 3 performance test with the 7950 in 1440p and 1080p if you want to check it out.

Thanks for subscribing and your support. Ultimately it comes down to cost, you can normally get a better Radeon for the same price as an Nvidia equivalent e.g GTX 770 or R9 280x/7970. Radeon generally have better support for their older cards. They are also DX12 compatible which gives the Radeon a nice boost in games like Doom 2016 and Rise of the Tomb Raider (I love both). The extra GB of Vram can be beneficial in some titles but not all as you'll see in my next video of the GTX 770 part 2 which is coming this weekend :-)

Cak Gaming If you have the 2GB version it will simply be a case of try it and see, my GTX 770 struggled with high settings and texture plus lighting mods. Maybe the drop to medium will be enough if you're only running texture packs but lighting mods definitely use more Vram from what I observed. If you have the 4GB version needless to say you'll be fine.

mine reached 8000mhz in memory clock and 1241mhz on GPU clock. im using asus GPU TWEAK.

Im building a new pc (i5 8600k, 16gb ram) and i will use my old graphic card with my new pc. Cuz i got no money for graphic card right now. My old graphic card is ASUS GTX 770 O.C Edition 2 GB one. If i get this good fps in games just like you, that will be so satisfying for me. That means i wont need a new graphic card for months. Its good to see that kind of video man. This video kinda made me happy.

iamburak Yea GPU pricing is ridiculously expensive at this point in time. The GTX 770 2gb is good enough for high settings 1080p in most titles so wait a little longer for the craziness to blow over.

Taye T. Akinde Lol, yep provided you don't try to run more modern titles like BF1 at ultra, then it can handle most games at high. Only Mass Effect Andromeda and ARK survival evolved have to be set to medium to get decent FPS. Twisted Skinz Tech i can run bf1 40-60fps smooth on ultra gtx 770 2gb ram 32 i5-4430 and fps drops are not noticabble
