OEN DIY Mech Squonker 21700 with voltmeter

This video is mostly about a "missing" class of mods, the mechs with electronic survailance instruments, or MESI for short :-) This DIY squonker has only a voltmeter, and that is nothing new. But a voltmeter can tell you so much more about the box and RDA and coils if it mesures Volts both at rest and under load. That is the main point I try to make. And there are extremely few mechs (not counting unregulated mods with fuses and mosfets) that has any instruments what so ever.

Thank you, my friend! What a fantastic RDA you send me! I thought it would be well made (of course) but simple and a bit boring, but the air flow is just fascinating. Love your vids, The therapeutic atmosphere they have is priceless :) My 2 cents: If you would actually implement a display in a mech mod of a similar design like the one in this video, it would be nice if the display would be on the top of the mod next to the atomizer oriented in a way so you can read it while vaping. Anyways, great job. Keep it up.

Sorry. I could not afford to keep it going. I spent $8000 on equipment and took a year free to make this channel happen. Now I need to work to make a living. But it was a ton of fun exploring the world of vaping:-)

Information is power. It’s definitely better to have a voltmeter than not to. I have a 2s2p 18650 squonker design that has been going around in my head and it includes a voltmeter and master switch. Might have to add Norwegian ash to the shortlist of materials👍🏼

you're on the right way with the voltmeter, maybe add an screen dimmer plate(don't know the original name) amd an masterswitch, and this would be the best mod i've heard about, in that dimensions!! Good job!!

Looking good Morten. And again, your leaving us with a Cliffhanger ha ha.. As always thoroughly enjoying your videos. Love your passion and your personality. I'm not sharing your thoughts on why you need a volt meter. Ha ha, if your that drunk, you shouldn't drive, or vape Mech mod ha ha. I'm vaping 95% on mechs and never felt that i needed a volt meter. I feel that you shouldn't use mech before you are aware of "all" the things you mention as the reason for the Voltmeter. Then again, i don't have a problem with it being there.. I do have a mod with voltmeter. My PWM mod, with the Lipo battery in it, running on 16.8Volt. The beast.

Thanks friend! I know it goes against the zen of hardcore vaping to use instruments, but I wanted honest views on the subject. Regarding a 16.8V PWM, I just cut the wood block to make my own 30 minutes ago 🤓

make the volt meter hidden inside. I love mechanical mods for the fact they hold up overtime alot better. Just clean contacts and they are good as new. I would love to buy just a 3 parallel 20650 device with that switch

I have for the last 3 months only used The Njord, The Zathog and the MoseOne RDAs. My current favorite combo is the parallel 21700 I made myself (see DIY video) with the Njord. The coil is a flat wire coil made out of 20g ss with 3 1/2 wraps and 4mm inner diameter at 0.1 Ohm. That is 160 Watts :-D. It is amazing what the Njord can handle. I use the SS prototype because it is a very high quality RDA. Vape on!

Hi Morten , I totally agree with everything you say. I've always looked for a mechanical squonk mod like that , but I've never found it and I've always wondered why no company produces it. Your video is very interesting and you are really phenomenal. Also I want to self-build a mechanical squonk mod with voltmeter . Can you tell me where you bought your voltmeter? or where can I buy it on the net? moreover , please , can you give me more explanations on how and where to weld it ? I hope you will soon review the mose-one .

Thanks man! The best way to find the voltmeter you need is to look at www.stealthvape.co.uk It is the micro version with 2 wires (for chip boards and PWM, 3 wires will often be better). I did actually not solder or weld the voltmeter this time. There is just 1 screw that I made myself that holds everything together :-). In a circuit like this you just solder one wire close to the battery positive, and one close to the battery negative. You can simply not do that part wrong. The tricky part is to clip of the ears of the voltmeter and sand down the circuit board without breaking it, so order several voltmeters so you can practise on one to see how much you can work on it before it breaks. It is a very tight fit to get it where it is. Remember, the outer diameter of the nut holding the 510 has a diameter of 14mm, and the voltmeter has to stay clear of that. Don't glue or solder anything before you have made sure everything will fit. Best of luck!
