I've done the DPF delete with the EGR unplugged and I get significantly better fuel economy. I'm now in the middle of eliminating anything that is not air or diesel fuel from entering the cylinders. Yesterday I removed the EGR cooler (just in case). Today I'm finishing up with the CCV delete, the SPE disaster prevention kit and a Pusher intake system and coolant reroute. Screw the EPA.

I did my 6.0 , Used a drain hose for a washing machine with a nice goose neck in it. Stuffed it in my valve cover hole and down the side. Presto ! Hot side Turbo silicone hoses kept popping off because of the oil vapor sucked through. Nice and dry now. Diesels always had a blow by vent hose running down to the ground. I don't get oil dripping either because of the goose neck up above. Don't forget to cap the hole on the intake tube.

I installed this on my 2015 Super Duty. I have about 10,000 miles with it on. And it leaks drops of oil for sure. I only have about 40,000 miles on truck now. So I’m not sure how yours doesn’t leak a drop of oil at all. When you pulled the CCV box filter off, there was oil in the box. Maybe it doesn’t leak for city small driving. But when I do a long trip with truck. I wake up to a small oil spot on driveway. Guess I need a catch can now.

Just curious why not go with the baffled catch can route so you can still get the scavenging assistance of the intake? I was looking for catch can setups for my 6.7 and wife's 3.5 Ecoboost.
@TopCorey
@TopCorey 5 жыл бұрын
No need for a catch can with this kit, its designed to let ZERO oil escape. That is why I chose to promote this on my channel. Ive personally seen It in action on a 1000hp 6.7 Powerstroke full pull on the dyno and not a drip of oil was pushed out. This hose is much bigger allowing gasses to escape very fast unlike a restrictive catch can. No pressure can build in the bottom end.
@slidzhapply9240
@slidzhapply9240 5 жыл бұрын
I can understand the restriction concern when utilized with a 1000hp powerstroke. I'm more asking regarding everyday usage for the average Joe like myself, just concerned about oil accumulation in the intake system. I would imagine that the gases from the crank case would have trace amounts of atomized oil particles in it which would accumulate on the filter element in the catch can. For everyday use with the outlet hooked up to the intake, wouldn't that be sufficient enough to where restriction wouldn't be a huge issue?
5 жыл бұрын
Slidzhapply a catch can is much better than this setup if you don’t want to drip oil everywhere. His kid obviously just has read some literature and doesn’t really know what he is talking about. Just some stupid kid that talked his parents into buying him a shitty truck.
@lhoherz18
@lhoherz18 5 жыл бұрын
I agree with the catch can idea. adapt ape made a video further elaborating on this ccv issue and running it into your intake further reduces the risk of oil gasket failure, this works great on na port fuel injection engine's however the debris causes issues on direct injection engine's because of the build up on the intake valve and also the intake impeller on the turbo, both situations work but the catch can mantains a vacuum assistance on the crank case

Oil does NOT lube the turbo. There is no way the oil from the intake gets to the sealed bearing that is lubed by the engine oiling system. All the CCV system does is blow crankcase fumes and an unacceptable amount of oil through the intake and into the cylinders

You need to learn how the turbo works. All the oil that goes through turbo does NOT lubricate the turbo. In order to oil the turbo, the bearings would have to be exposed to that oil. You have also not ever removed the cold side pipe. If you leave the CCV system in place, you will find the cold side tube and the intercooler with gobs of oil. Since I removed my CCV system, mt 230,000 mile 6.7 doesn't use a drop of oil and the performance is better.

@@Alex450whp a reprogram tied with a recall to replace the vent tube. Basically the recall is to remove the hose and install a tamper resistant hose and then the reprogram removes the dtc from the PCM so no more check engine light. The new hose is a stupid piece of shit one time use hose. You cant easily separate it from the intake, so to remove intake you have to either destroy the hose and buy a new one, or remove the oil separator along with the intake to avoid the need to remove the hose.

Oily crankcase smog entering your intake will: a. Introduce diesel particles to your compressor side which may damage shaft seals on your turbo b. clog your intercooler, restricting airflow and reducing its ability to cool your intake air. It can also foul map sensors. c. Lower the oxygen content of your intake air, making your engine run richer and thereby using more fuel. Remember also that crank gases are introduced post-maf in most systems, so the ECU is always allowing for unmetered air in its calculations which will mean the fuel mapping is not as accurate/efficient as possible. d. When the smog mixes with exhaust fumes introduced via the EGR, they form a black tarlike substance that bakes onto your intake manifold, valves, pistons and turbines over time. Gradually this will choke your engine up and causes it to run rough and inefficiently as you lose cubic capacity to this black substance. e. To follow on from D, your cylinder bores can become glazed if carbon builds up inside the chamber and on the pistons as diesel and oil will have less of a chance to get in there and do their job. This will give you more blow by, which means more oily vapor. Note in gasoline applications its not such an issue as the fumes are usually plumbed into the intake where gasoline (solvent) is already present. Direct injection, different story... Hope this helps.

Main misconception about ICE. Fuel do not explodes in combustion chamber of spark or compression ignition engine. Fuel ignites. If it explodes you have trouble. I run same pipe on my diesel, so called elephant hose, down under car to create vaccuum by Venturi Effect in crankcase at some cruise speeds like 60 or 70 mph. If you bust EGR and PCV route to air, there is still oil from turbo seals, and that seal, always leaks to some point. You can not get right of oil in diesel intake manifold completely, but busting EGR and routing PCV to atmopshere is good way to start. After those 2 deleted, clean intake manifold. Soaking manifold in warm water solution of caustic soda for 10 minutes, works wonders.

Ya know for the first time ever my air filter had black carbon type particles at the bottom. Its a 2020. In my 2017 6.7 I never ever saw it. Anyway Threw a check engine light recently. Checked it. P0401. EGR flow etc. Took her to Ford. Just told me they have to replace the throttle body. So. Im gonna ask why the black soot on the bottom of my air filter *edit they also told me I had several recall items. Maybe that is one of them. I think brakes were one of them

Watch powerstrokehelp.com and see what Bill says about this reroute. Has a youtube video on why this is a stupid idea. Not sure who is right but food for thought. Basically says it creates problems for the seals in the turbo when you take the oil out and reroute it.

@timbo_slice4053 5 жыл бұрын
The CCV Reroute only takes excess crank case vapor and routes it into the intake in which that coats the inside of the charged air cooler, pipes and the turbo compressor wheel with oil. That has nothing to do with Turbo seals.
@pilgrim666butters
@pilgrim666butters 5 жыл бұрын
@@timbo_slice4053 my knowledge is for 7.3 which I thought this vid was. Regardless though you are now opening a closed system thus changing pressure and after 15+ years and then doing this mod the different pressure can affect seals and o rings. Tons of people have oil leaks in the 7.3 world after doing this mod, give it 15 more years and 6.7's who attempt may have similar issues. This mod is pointless just think how many old 7.3s are on the road have u ever heard of bad inner coolers?? No the reasoning is premature wear on intake boots. Which can be prevented w heavy duty silicone boots. Pointless mod.
@timbo_slice4053
@timbo_slice4053 5 жыл бұрын
@@pilgrim666butters The old 7.3 is a dinosaur compared to the 6.7. The CCV on a 6.7 routes the Crank Case pressure back into the intake before the turbo. There is no "opening of closed systems." Many many race cars run a CCV Reroute into a catch can in which vents to atmosphere. The Turbo seals going bad has nothing to do with a CCV Reroute on a 6.7.

This is not necessary. Diesels burn oil, just a fact of life it’s what they do. Don’t go rerouting this because you see some oil burn out the tailpipe.

@insaneTrout
@insaneTrout 5 жыл бұрын
Every vehicle has blow by doesn't matter how new, diesel, or gas. Especially on a cold start where there is the most blow by. cold pistons and rings contract and become smaller giving bigger tolerances. the material expands when they heat up from the vehicle running if you had air tight seals you wouldn't get lubrication and eventually the piston rings would expand so much there would be nowhere for them to go besides between the piston sides and cylinder walls causing catastrophic damage and then you'd most likely need a new motor. Though the blow by is minimal they have it

There is nothing wrong with oil vapour going back into your engine. Definitely can't hurt the turbo and definitely won't hurt your motor. To add, now you are putting even dirtier air into the atmosphere . But do whatever you want who cares. Just wanna say it does no harm to your engine or else it wouldn't be engineered that way Edit: The amount of oil that actually comes through in vapour form during a 5000 mile interval wouldn't be noticeable on a dipstick

This is a very very bad idea. This is essentially a Road-Draft tube. Abandoned even on the lowliest engines 40 years ago. With very good reason. All internal combustion engines create a positive internal crankcase pressure, since no engine has 100% perfect ring to cylinder seal. So that pressure is vented. An open tube like this sure vents it, but with zero control, and zero benefit to the engine other than releasing pressure. On high compression Diesel with high pressure turbo, the effect is much more pronounced. The system has a closed loop way of not only venting but creating a slight negative pressure. This is actually good for the engine! High performance racers know this hence why they put the same method on turbo cars even with gas, as the negative pressure helps ring-to-cylinder sealing at high performance levels. The tiny bit of oil is normal, and will still drain out of the engine "draft tube" onto the ground and the bottom of the truck. Guys, Diesels are efficient oil burners. This tiny bit of oil that is condensed from oil vapors, is drawn back into the engine, and yes there is a negative pressure here (think about it, if it weren't oil would be there in the first place), the engine quite easily burns it just like the oil known as Diesel fuel burns. Unless you fail to change oil at regular intervals, this is clean oil, clean system and environmentally smart. And it has no negative impact on the engine. (unlike egr and exhaust filter cleaning cycles.) But the final reason? its illegal. you are now dumping oil intentionally which is ignorance.

NOW IF YOU WANT TO RACE AND DUMP A SHIT LOAD OF FUEL INTO CYL AND DONT BURN IT ALL AND DONT CARE ABOUT ENGINE LIFE THEN GO RIGHT ON A CRANK CASE DELETE IS GREAT SO YOU DONT PUSH THE SEALS OUT OF THE BLOCK GOING DOWN THE TRACK . BUT ITS NOT NEED ON A DAILY DRIVER THE ONLY THING THESE TRUCKS NEED S INTERCOOLER PIPE UPGRADE AND LOF AND FUEL FILTERS , EGR DELETE AND DPF DELETE .EGR IS KILLING THESE ENGINE WITH SOOT WASH OUT ,AND THE DPF IS BURN ENGINES UP WITH HIGH EGTS AND SHORTEN THE LIFE ENGINE PISTON ARE MELTING @ 1400 DEGREES VALVES ARE NOT MUCH BETTER .
