ONLY 2(ish) MONTHS TO GO… Endangered OBRY Chase in the Fall on Friday October 8 2021!!

During the Friday Morning of October 8 2021, I chased the ‘Endangered’ Orangeville Brampton Railway Short Line Southbound from Orangeville to Brampton and got about 10ish video clips at various spots of this train which I share in this video! Rather nice fall scenery also I think, too bad this is almost indefinitely the last fall in which the rail line will be active in the ‘well known’ Forks of the Credit
*Just a little more than 2 months to go at this point for the OBRY as Contract fully ends on December 31 2021 (*stated by the friendly crewmen himself) but still rather hard to say if they’ll operate straight to the day, would definitely be wise to grab your shots sooner than later!
I also did a mini NB OBRY chase (REALLY wanted to chase straight back to Orangeville but road closures screwed me over) so got just 5 NB clips between Brampton & Boston Mills rd (just before Inglewood) which I’ll be share also in a couple days I hope.

First class video!!! I love everything about it, but especially your droll, matter-of-fact narration. Do you think Clorox in Orangeville will survive without the train?

Thank you very much for the feedback, I love giving the narration myself to help best describe the scene to the viewers! Think Clorox will be alright, been nearly a year since the article about the rail line being filed for abandonment got published and still no new word in the news as to if Clorox or any of the other 2 Orangeville customers are set to put up a fight. Material they receive also is just plastic pellets in the covered hoppers so think they can easily been unloaded from the hoppers at either Streetsville or Guelph Junction & trucked the rest of the way to Orangeville once the line is closed

We're sure going to miss GMTX 333 and the Cando before it. It's a shame for all the crews that this run is shutting down. Way more than for us railfans who see it as a nice change from our CN and CP trains. Thanks for sharing this footage. We missed them when we were in Brampton at the end of August (must have been an early run or it was cancelled). It would have been nice to get one last catch. I'll miss hearing that horn...

I’ll definitely miss it too, these definitely will be remembered as the “better days” in terms of Railfanning downtown, ESPECIALLY when the GEXR Short Line ran daily through here as well. Up until late 2018 a railfan coming to Downtown Brampton on a Tuesday or Friday would have almost a Guarantee of getting to see 5 different trains including 2 different Short Lines, sadly it seems that by this years end none of them will exist so ya definitely these will be remembered as the “better days”. Sucks you didn’t get to see the OBRY also, sorry bout that, they’re definitely becoming the more ‘Hit or Miss’ now with rail traffic slowly declining as Orangeville customers prepare to permanently switch to them darn trucks….

Hi Railfan99; What a great collection of captures !! Nice work !! How sad to see that this historic line will almost certainly become defunct. In late September when filming the OBRY I think that I got surprised by the same construction that delayed you this day. Now I have seen several YTer's report that this Friday will be the OBRY's last run. Does this sound about right to you ? Thanks. James.

Hello James thank you for your comment! Yes this coming Friday is currently said to be the final run ever, train will be leaving Orangeville for about 9am but likely on duty at 7 (before departure they’ll be heading to the last 2 customers by Broadway to collect the last empty hoppers).

It would be great to meet you if you were planning on being there, but I am not planning to be right in Orangeville, so that it perhaps not likely. I'll out along the line somewhere to grab some aerial footage. And maybe at the CP Yard @ Streetsville afterwards. Stay safe. James.

I hope to be at the station in Orangeville for 645 just to be safe. And I think I’ll also follow streight to the CP interchange so we may cross paths, hope you stay safe also, Graydon

Be sad to see it go; so much has changed since I lived there. Orangeville Racetrack gone, Credit Valley Explorer gone, and now OBRY to disappear. Nice you were able to document for future railfans to see.

Absolutely LOVE that horn, especially on a foggy misty morning. It just sounds so haunting. Thank you for continuing to document this railroad. We all are unsure going to miss it, especially going over that bridge at the Forks. Do you ever go so far as the CP interchange in Streetsville?

I personally only went that far just once back when CANDO was still here… pretty hard to keep up I find after Brampton with all them traffic lights 🚦 🚦 🚦 Only took photos that time also no video footage which I somewhat regret now even tho I sure as wasnt as good with videography them as I am now. Think I’ll try to follow all the way & document em at Streetsville just once before it’s all done..

You can say that again : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jMtjirxmqp3PqGg.html I Definitely plan to do a fall tour of this now-abandoned scenic rail line this fall when the leaves change colours or… whatever is left of it if by October, they’ve begun to gradually pull it up for the planned rail-trail conversion project

@@NscalefromOntario I hope to see it one more time before the rails are gone completely. I was hoping to ride a rail bike on the line.
