We've had some epic moments, some epic fish, and once again an amazing time on our annual kayak fishing trip to the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
Ucluelet has always been our home away from home, our favorite place to vacation, visit with family, and enjoy all of the sights and world class fishing that the area has to offer.

😂 Kyle telling the fish to stop is one of my favorite parts of the videos. omg. another awesome video guys. sad to see that trip end. but what awesome fish! definitely gonna be picking up a different color Westcoast Fishing Tackle swimbait. my orange one is great for yelloweyes. lol. time for a purple or herringaid pattern. can't wait for more guys. tight lines.

@AW-xv7dq the nets are Lucky Strike 5' long, rubber coated nets, the hoop size is 19"x22" and the basket depth is 20" deep with a flat bottom. No complaints on the build quality of these nets. They've held up great and worked awesome for smaller fish as they're extremely light, but for bigger salmon, they're not deep enough at all. The next nets we get will have to have a basket depth of at least 36" and probably not flat bottomed, seems like the flat bottom almost gives the fish some leverage to flip out of the nets.

A few things. One- I admire y'all fishing out there. You kayak in some pretty hefty swells compared to what I see people do here on the east coast. Two- Ive been eyeing outbacks and old towns for a while. What model Old Town do you both use? Do you have any thoughts on other models such as the "Salty", "Big Water", or "Topwater" ? Appreciate it! We do tend to push the limits of what the kayaks are capable of. That being said, we take as many safety steps as possible to make sure we get home safe. Of course, our opinion is a bit biased when it comes to Old Town vs. Other brands as we are an Old Town family. But I think these days there really isn't a company that makes a "bad" boat, just depends on what you need it to do, price range, and transportation. We use the Sportsman PDL 120's, not your typical boat for going offshore in, but as you can see, they've been able to handle everything we've been able to throw at the so far. They're extremely stable, lots of room in them, and they're more than fast enough for our needs. The Salty and Bigwater are definitely going to be faster than us, and they're plenty stable, just not as forgiving as our kayaks, if we make a mistake and lean a little to far we're OK, where as if we did the same thing in the salty or bigwater, we'd be swimming! If you need speed the bigwater and salty are the way to go if not the 120 is a fantastic option, feel free to shoot us a message on Instagram or Facebook if you have any other questions!
