Thanks Art. How does this work for petitioners who are foreign abroad still? Many of these criteria seem specific to those living in the states already.

Same info is requested if outside the USA . . . BUT, our government officers have more flexibility to process this overseas. Inside the USA they use Form I-944; OUTSIDE the USA, at the U.S. Consulate, the financial / welfare stuff (based on data available from the home country for the international spouse), our system uses the Form DS-5540 . . . there will be different data if you live in another country when you apply; if you live in the USA when you apply, you will have more USA-specific data,

Came to the US because I needed to board A carnival ship for work. That has been postponed and I believe I have 2 months left in the country. What options are available to me? Can I extend my stay through my tourist visa? I have both a tourist and transit visa.

We could discuss the Visitor visa . . . you would need to file a "Change of Status" application . . .

Why can't America accept Europeans easily with a easy to acquire permit. After all Europeans came to America and it was a promised land for Europeans

@@beanburger5689 I know . . . Trump targets the poor, the uneducated, and the people he thinks are form (as he said) "sh*thole countries" . . . BUT TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE HE IS NOT DOING THIS, he screws Europeans too. He is wearing out his welcome. Trump needs to go.
