I had several questions regarding my PVC lap stand and how well it's been working for me. I figured a review would be the best way to answer most questions posed to me. Enjoy!

I just made one and I love it - fantastic - allows for two handed stitching and much cheaper than replacing the wood stand I can't find with another retail one. Yay! Thank you so much! TFS

Pam, Good easy assembly... Removing the PVC pipe lettering is easy, use a small piece of cloth and clear PVC primer... Slightly dampen the cloth with the clear primer and rub on the pipe lettering and it vanishes...

I agree with +the evergreen needle . It seems like a no brainer, but I was wondering about the whole lap situation, too. This was super helpful, I am totally going to make one now.

I made one with the pvc corner joiners but with wooden rods for the sides and base as my Bunnings store didn't have the pvc piping in the size I needed. Works great. Thank you so much so showing us how to make this wonderful stand. I sit in a chair with it on my lap and I have a light pad across the base as my work piece is black and the light helps to see where I am stitching. Again thank you.

I indulged myself and got the lap stand parts cut and assembled the lap frame. Whoopee! Anyway it dawned on me the grime guard was part of your pictures. After viewing the film a few times I finally caught the comment of cutting a slit in the grime guard to slip the pvc thru. Thanks much for the video. I did pass on your site on making the lap stand to my stitching friends.

I'm so glad you made this video! I have been curious mostly about how it actually works as you use it; I can never tell if some lap stands sit on or under the legs because I've never seen one in action. This makes me want to try it now as my floor stand isn't doing as good a job at holding my qsnaps for some reason. Thanks Pam!

Thank you for this. I was also curious how it was working. I'm thinking of making my own - I've got a 17x17" one, but find that a little large for some projects and would love to get an 8x8, but it seems more sensible to make one rather than buy another. Specially when you can just get the clamps at Michaels. Will definitely take your suggestion to take the clamps in. ;)

For the clamps, I wonder if the store can cut another PVC length-wise down the center to make clamps? The 'PVC clamps' would have to be bigger in diameter than the frame-PVC pieces to accommodate both the frame and fabric. Hmm...

Thanks for going over it again with some extra tips. I use mine all the time and love it. The only thing is mine seems loose and the stand parts come apart. Any hints on that? Yours seems tighter and I know yours isn't glued and I don't want to glue mine.
@PamsCraftyCorner
@PamsCraftyCorner 8 жыл бұрын
The only place mine seems loose is where the top portion attaches. I wrapped some electrical tape around the ends and now they are more snug. Any kind of tape that has a cloth or grippy surface on the outside would work. Like sports tape for wrapping fingers for example.

Great video. I must be the only one that can not figure out how to remove q snap clamp from the frame as the fitting keeps it from sliding off.
@PamsCraftyCorner
@PamsCraftyCorner 7 жыл бұрын
+Phyllis Whitlow I can usually get mine off with ease but new clamps can be quite stiff.

Just curious why didn't you use cut felt pieces on your fabric prior to putting on the clamp? I find this process protects my fabric. Really like your diy for the pls lap stand. Thank you.

+Bernice Siner Thanks. Never felt the need to use felt and my clamp has never damaged my stitches in the 20 odd years I've been using them. ☺

Do you keep your project in the Q-snap until it is finished? Would that be ok to do?
@PamsCraftyCorner
@PamsCraftyCorner 5 жыл бұрын
I have kept my projects in thr q-snap for extended periods and have never had an issue. I wash my projects when done and iron them and the stitches always end up fine.

Can you use this with beaded cross stitch also? Would the q snap damage the beads?
@PamsCraftyCorner
@PamsCraftyCorner 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure how the clamps would work with the beads. Once I'm beading I usually switch to stitching in hand. You could clamp the very edges of the fabric on top and bottom only and then roll the clamps till the fabric is stretched like on a scroll rod. That might work.

@@PamsCraftyCorner thanks I'm working on a just beaded cross stitch and I'm going by hand. I've never used a frame like this for any of my cross stitch. I'm interested though. Like for it looks.
