Hi, you made a comment about a nylon timing gear. I used to think that way, then I got educated. I bought a dragster from this guy and he told me to run a nylon gear. I thought yeah right ! Why would I do that? So after 3 runs down the 1\4 mile I went to check the valves. I was able to rotate the crank a loong way before the distributor moved. The chain looked like the one you took out in this video. I went back to him and said tell me more about the nylon gear. The nylon acts as a shock absorber and doesn't stretch the chain. His race engine had 1inch of lift at the valve and triple valve springs, he ran a nylon gear. I never wore out a chain after I switched to the nylon gear.

That’s great info: I never looked at it that way. I agree with that pov. Thanks for the response!

Have a 98 gmc jimmy 4x4 slt. 4.3l vortec 4l60e np233. Transmission failing so rebuilding both engine and trans/transfer case. Just ordered a complete frontend kit with new control arms new ac/condensor/dryer and ac hoses. Alot of work. I pulled the frame out from under the body so much easier plus I sandblasted the stripped down frame and painted it looks brand new. Some red polyurethane bushings for the body

It's the 2020's; everyone should have a decent set of torx bits. haha XD Thanks for the video,. I'm too lazy to pull the motor out, so I'm just gonna work in the engine bay. Wish me luck on my 97 Blazer...

so what was the problem with it, the piston thing, or the valve it was kinda unclear but i grasped it somewhat. and did you ever figure out what that spring was to
@glennsepelak5113 Жыл бұрын
always shoot some break clean into torx fittings. that way the bit goes in all the way and there is no grease for it to slip on. them tap in with hammer to set it solid. if you feel it slipping use an impact hammer blow tool
@Chuck_S7 ай бұрын
Use an impact with Torx bits. And GM has used Torx head bolts since the 70's.

This video was taken a long time ago but I have a question that you may be able to answer. The lower timing chain sprocket in this video looks exactly like the on on my 2003 S10 ZR2 4.3L Pickup and when I ordered a new Cloyes Timing Chain Replacement Kit it came with a different looking lower sprocket that does not have the large faceplate on the front of it only the actual gear cog itself. Do you remember if that was the case when you did your repair many years ago?

I have a 4.3 in my 2001 chevy Blazer and trying to find someone to rebuild the motor is almost impossible.

Picked up a 93s10 blazer 4.3l v6. First car ive ever pulled the engine out to rebuild. With help from my father it was somewhat easy to get it out. Currently waiting on parts to arrive
@randy1ization Жыл бұрын
nobody likes to mess with them because there were so many variations over the years,, its not hard, you just have to do your research.. parts from v8s WILL NOT mix and match as is said by people who dont know what they are talking abt.. you have to positively identify the engine block, what plant it was made in, what year, and what parts were put in it.,. after disassembly, dont throw anything away.. you may need to measure some parts to be sure you get the right parts to rebuild it. the piston rods go in a certain way also, unlike a v8. read an article called the holy grail of 4.3 chevy engines.

You're probably better off just buying a remanufactured one. It's cheaper and quicker. I bought one from Autozone back in 2019. Still runs perfect. Got about 15k miles on it at this point.

That torx stuff is for the automotive tool industry to sell more tools. They're already in cahoots. You'd think they make enough money alread

Also if you were gonna whip the grinder out might as well have just grinded some slots through the heads of the bolts plate be damned, and use a flathead screwdriver. But instead you went in and cut the damn ears off and damaged the block.

Why does it have a balance shaft ? 360° is a circle. You have a 4 cycle engine. Which is set at a 90° "V" 90x's 4 cycles comes to 360 ! That's why 90° 4 cycle V8 Engines run so well. The Cylinders fire equally throughout the 360° 's Simple er what ?? Now...do the math using 6 cylinders. (!) Chevy did it simple ...using an existing platform.
