Great Bikes, only one thing i would check when buying one of these apart from the obvious service history is the overflow pipe in the fuel tank, if the pipe is blocked then water does not drain from the filler cap through the fuel tank and rusts inside the tank, you can see the pipe inside the filler cap, take thin piece of wire and poke through the hole in filler cap and make sure it is clear and part of serviving routine.

Yes mine was blocked so I got a different tank but still have the old one

They are really good bikes, not hard to work on and very reliable everyday bike . If you decide to get one get the latest model I think 2019 is the last model made. All I need for mine now is a heated seat

I live in Wiltshire and I own a varadero 125 and 1000 I have put 100,000 miles on my 125 7 years from brand new and I recently took my dad's varadero 1000 on it has 48,000 miles on the clock never had a problem loving the video but I disagree with you on one thing the varadero 1000 is not heavy at all it light for a big machine

Hello, mine also ticking mostly from 3000 to 4000 rpms when the engine warms but not every time. I replaced tensioners and nothing changed.

It could be a clutch rattle as Honda's are well known for a clutch rattle if it disappears when you pull the clutch in that could be it.

@andyjdaviestjk in one video you mentioned the rear brake caliper binding - did you ever get to solve it? I'm having a devil of a time with mine - rear caliper gets red hot and locks onto the disc, but then after bashing the brake pedal it seems to release for a bit. I'm going down the road of de-linking the brakes but haven't solved it yet.
@andyjdaviestjk
@andyjdaviestjk 7 ай бұрын
VFRBoy, it is still a bit sticky and after talking to the mechanic on the MOT it's the rear brake hose it's deteriorated and is expanding when I press the pedal but not contracting back into shape and the pads are not retracting, it improved a hell of a lot when I changed the piston seals on the caliper and regreased them but everything on the braking system is now new including all the master cylinders and it's still binding slightly, so braided hoses are the next step .

Hi. Super videos. I am going to bye a Varadero 2004 model with abs and almost 100.000 on the odometer. It looks like a bike that have been well looked after. Is there anything particular to be aware of?

Hi, Thanks yes they are very good bikes very strong, you get a lot for the money,I have had mine for nearly six years and apart from general maintenance not that expensive , I would make sure it's had the cam chains and tensioners checked and possibly replaced with that kind of milage and see if it's the original shock on the back as they are softly sprung so if you carry a passenger or luggage you might want to upgrade it they also get lowered so worth checking , They are great bike though and solid engines, good luck with it hope you enjoy it

One guy in Austria has Varadero XL1000 1999 with over 700.000km still running strong with original engine.

Driving 120km/h on highway whats the rpm and does the wind(your windshield good) hit the helmet making noise?
@andyjdaviestjk
@andyjdaviestjk Жыл бұрын
Hi @69VAJRA at that speed it's around 3500 rpm in sixth gear, depending on the wind, no my screen is very good it's an aftermarket one o cut to size and especially with the extra adjustable one on top, I only really put my visor down in the rain as no wind hits my helmet and I'm 5ft 9 inches.

@@andyjdaviestjk Often when bikes are modified with slipon, change of airfilter, change mainjet in carburator. Drivning in low rpm in 1, 2, 3 gear is stalling/goes unclean....Does your bike goes any of this? Sometimes even when everthing is orignal stuttering and having nervous idle while driving in slow in town is happening all the time...thats why i was selling my bike(not same modell as yours)
