The plaintiff brings his father to court. He claims his father kicked him out of their house and got him falsely arrested, so he’s suing for hotel costs and other damages. The defendant doesn’t think he owes his son anything, and he’s done with the plaintiff after this.

What I think is that the son sees it that way. He probably didn’t like dads rules growing up. I’m sure dad make mistakes but the son is very entitled. I’m sure the dad just didn’t want to see his son on the street especially with his grandchildren. I rather my kid be cussed at than hit by a car when the parents weren’t even watching the kids. Anything could’ve happened God forbid they could’ve got snatched. He gave this son a place to live plus sounds like a free babysitter.

Facts. I was in a really bad housing situation for once in a different state from my parents and my mom kept imploring me to move back home and figure my life out. As tempting as the offer was (no rent, ability to save up money) I knew it would be at least a few months before I could get on my feet and as awesome as my parents are, my little sister still lives with them and we get along AWESOMELY long distance and together in small doses (so, like, no more than two weeks) but it would be hella uncomfortable and probably straight up volatile if it went on for months. Thankfully they are services in this country for those that truly need it and I was able to find a shelter and save up my money, etc. Not ideal but better than destroying a familial relationship

Anyone who says they would never cut off a family member probably has never had a toxic family relationship. My own mental wellbeing outweighs family ties in my book, and any other relationship. I don’t talk to my mentally abusive narcissistic older brother.

I can't believe how spoiled and selfish the son is. He hasn't paid any rent, keeps moving his girlfriend in, they're sleeping while they leave the grandson on his dad. He has the nerves to complain about him yelling at his son. The stuff he's suing him for is ridiculous. He needs to grow up, get his own spot, watch his own kid, and stop acting like his dad is just supposed to fund his life. He is not very productive and he's too darned old for this crap.

The plaintiff sounds like an ungrateful child, he says he has always had a bad relationship with his father, yet his father has given him a roof over his head for 2 years, babysits the grandchild while the plaintiff gets to sleep during the day (as he works at night) then he has the cheek to stop paying rent for 5 months and is still in the place. If the plaintiff had the slightest bit of maturity, he would think of the bigger picture and hold his tongue and play nice for the sake of the grandson...

Exactly right. Just because someone breeds does not make them an honorable person. If the kid behaves terribly, where do they learn it from? If they didn't learn it from their parents, then why did their parents let those people teach them that behavior? Yes, parents can be disgusting human beings.

They're both toxic. It's no surprise that the son has so many issues with a father who clearly has anger management problems at a minimum. If he couldn't behave like a rational adult, imagine how he behaved around his son growing up. It's not a shock that the son isn't behaving like a grown adult either. They both need therapy.

Both sides have their faults clearly. But there doesn't seem to be nothing wrong with the son and he didn't say he was on hard times so why doesnt he get his own place? Its probably the same reason he is having problems with his parents...doesnt want to pay bills or act like a grown up or parent if he is just wanting to take naps with his gf he moved in and not watch his kid. Parents are parents and have short comings and many have a list of things you say your not going to repeat when you have your family...unless your like this grown man who won't pay rent but will use money to consult a lawyer...for what...to force his dad to give him money? Like the judge said it might be weak reasons for the restraining order but it was granted and he violated it. I understand all about family helping family but this guy could've done his part and paid rent and if he really couldn't afford it then mow the law, throw the trash...something. Not nap with your gf. Your balding dude. Time to grow up. Give your parents time to miss you so when you visit they are happy to see you.

Harvey is always asking people on the street if they would sue a family member for $$, then he always says everyone has their price. This may sound crazy but I would NEVER sue anyone in my immediate family. I don't have perfect relationships with any of them either it's just because of the simple fact that for most of us family is all you have in this world. Sure some lucky people might have established friends that are like family but I sure don't. Even for 10 million dollars I wouldn't sue family. It's not worth the damage that it's gonna cause in the end.

If the son can't follow the law he certainly isn't going to obey his father. They obviously do think the courts are their disciplinarian. Truly, what woman would want either one of them?
