Last week I built a used gaming PC for £100 and today we're going to be going over it's performance and overclocking results.
The Q6600 might well be the bottleneck in this system but lets see if we can overclock it to gain maximum performance from Radeon's also aging HD 7770.
The £100 gaming PC comprises of the following components
Intel Core 2 Quad Core Q6600 CPU
Asrock Penryn 1600-SLI 110db Motherboard
8GB's DDR2 @ 800MHz
Seasonic SS-350ET 350watt PSU
CIT Hero PC case
Western Digital Blue 500GB HDD
Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 GPU
Games benchmarked
Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus @ 1:10
PUBG @ 1:49
Shadow of was @ 2:24
The Witcher 3 @ 2:51
Fortnite @ 3:19
CSGO @ 4:02
Bioshock Infinite @ 4:31
Shadow of Mordor @ 4:52
Rise of the Tomb Raider @ 5:17
Fallout 4 @ 5:50

Xeon x5450 - same as Q6600 . Overclocked to @4.0 1.36v - working for 1 year, low temps, no crashes. Csgo: 130 - 230 frames per second, mostly 160 in stable. same graphic card :)

Thx for the benchmarks, if u could try it next with a Q9650 or a Modified Xeon CPU from ebay, that would b great, thx! 😍

I played on a Q6600 for 11 years, was really expensive back in 2006, but not a great performer. After the mainboard had bloated and corroded transistors, faulty HDD, the RAM was faulty and my HD 6850 was causing problems too ... I shut down the system. The dying process has lasted for three years, crashed with bluescreens all the time, but he just did not want to die. In the system 3 graphics cards died, the first power supply has exploded and the number of defective RAM sticks is endless.

Haha.. you can just do a tape mod for the q6600 and get a stable solid 3.0ghz easy

Based on this, and without further OC, the Q6600 & socket 775 were hanging on until about 2015 in gaming ability. After that, Nehalem and beyond, for whatever deals you could get, were the way forward.

You should see if you can get one of those LGA771 Xeons, like the E5450 and try ocing it! Probably will remove all this bottleneck you're seeing

Twisted Skinz Tech yeah, they are pretty, right now I have an E5430 overclocked to 3.5GHz and CSGO runs at around 170FPS with an R7 360

CSGO is more about decent FPS if you want to stay competitive, as you can see I suck at CSGO lol.

Not sure if you ever seen people get a old dell 775 socket with 4 ddr2 slot to max it at 8gb ddr2 and do the tape mod on it (3ghz) and that's the best setup you can probably go with the q6600 😉

Turning up the settings on csgo might yield more FPS. I had a similar problem with it before where I turned up the graphics settings and nearly doubled the FPS

Cak Gaming yes they're probably my favourite videos to do. I was thinking about doing the HD 7770 separately as this was a popular choice back in the day. It will be reviewed in the Skylake system though because I'm sure it's capable of better performance.

I cant wait till you release it , its gonna be awesome as always . I dont think it did too bad on this one , cant wait to see it without bottlenecks and etc on a bit better machine .

Just built a i3 2120 3.3 8gb 1600mhz ram Gtx 1050ti 4gb OC Got all the parts for £100 it's a brilliant little gaming pc.

Wadie1987 If that's truly what you paid for it then you got a steal considering most GTX 1050ti's are selling for £160-£180 at the moment.

Twisted Skinz Tech yes got the tower for £20 an old hp 3500 pro, agreed £80 for a second hand gtx 1050 2gb locally and 4gb ram but when I turned up to collect it was a GTX 1050TI 4GB OC so abit of a bargain 👍

problem here is the old ddr2 Ram. My lga 775 board with ddr3 ram runs all of those games without problems coupled with my gtx 570

TcgShopLandshut you could well have a point, I have a Xeon on order so we'll see in a future video if that improves matters, or if the DDR2 is really that bad.

HD 7770 is a great GPU. The Q6600 is well passed its prime. An older i5 or even a good Phenom II probably would have put up a better showing

Some games were 1080p, some 720p, some 900p, it really depended how demanding the game was. I tested all those resolutions on every game to try and find the best compromise.

well.... i watched this video and bought a gigabyte hd5770 for 15 euros core 2 quad 6600 is 15 euros also a 1tb harddrive for 10 euros motherboard was free with the processor case was 1 euro so i paid 41 euros for the setup or 36£ TIP OF THE DAY:IF YOU LOOK FOR SOMETHING REALLY HARD,YOU CAN FIND IT FOR ALOT CHEAPER
