I wish the game were a little clearer on when you're picking a target and when you're examining. Losing the fire in the first boss because you were actually targeting with jelly, for example. Maybe it should turn the selection circle red? Draw a little arrow? As I type you say you wish you could see targets without examining haha. This game is cute and has promise! But it's got some polishing desperately needed. As for the math on sticky it's like. I think if their stacks are

Super neat game. Enjoyed watching someone else play it. Perfect demonstration of why roguelikes aren't good for me, I'd be cursing and crying over every lost strategy/synergy/concept. Gorgeous art design, just woah!

does stacking sticky matter? seems like its a 65% chance no matter what. and the ticks are just how long it lasts.

i noticed that when the stack became small enough, it stopped being "very sticky" and turned into simply "sticky", which i guess has a lower stun chance.

At a certain point, sticky becomes Very Sticky, which is real good. Outside of that, yea, just duration

It may seem random and the game does a bad job at explaining it but usually when you encounter one strong enemy it's like a mini boss encounter then the game goes back to its previous scaling

It seems like the bonus actions given by having more boys might outweigh evolving? Maybe you get more minions more often in act 2?

As it should be. You have one slot less, and not only that, it's being taken up by a monster that's most likely frail and needs protection.
