Great to see you back Sean. I had a Mates turbo making the same noises. I found that one of his Turbine blades were damaged and it snowballed into the bearings eventually leaving the chat. Anyway, can’t wait to see how you get on with the new Turbine housing with the flapper mod, (as I am keen to get one for my F6) and if the the Pulsar internals make a difference. Really can’t wait for all the updates and the Magna content. Cheers bro, Pauly D!

Good that you are on to this. The speed that turbos spin at, good bearings with no radial or axial play is crucial. In the video, I looked mostly at your coolant overflow tank. Wanted to see if there is a difference with the T6 to the V8. My BA XR8 seems to have a broken thread on the tank cap, or tank. Doesn't tighten properly, and comes loose, and leaks coolant. A Ford site I looked at sells the tank only, and no cap. Looks like I may have to get an aftermarket one.

Fully understand needing to balance the budget and thus having to put a bit more thought into things rather than just doing it. I'm only juggling one car and I'm forever doing that. Nice little update though and look forward to when there's things ready to show us.

good to see you working on this. Your entirely the reason i got a xr6T . 2005ba , 6speed manual. rapid yellow. No one wanted it because "skinny rods". I absoulutely love it and love learning how to work on it. I don't limiter bash it, I boost it and have a tonne of fun in it. Sure it could fail at one point, but generally don't drive it like a stole it and still puts a huge smile on my face. thank you for your informative videos on it over the years.

I think they're stronger than most people give them credit for, if they're kept under say 15psi and tuned in a sympathetic way.

Took my car 3 years across 3 different shops and 2 different painters to get my Calais done. You get what you pay for I guess. Looking forward to the future of the channel bud. Love from Brissy sth side

That’s either crap quality oil or infrequent oil changes or restricted airflow , where the turbine gets pulled inwards and start to wear.

if your replacing the turbine then you might aswel spend just a little extra and upgrade the turbine intake housing with one that has the T51R mod machined into it! (you can always swap it back) but it should be a law that all turbo cars have the T51R mod! 😎

If the budget was higher I would have replaced the whole thing with a Pulsar + T51R mod, but sadly not. I do wonder if the noise would ever get annoying though.

Hmm. Seems like Century need to give you a bigger budget so you can build the XR engine and fit a proper Garrett G series turbo to it! 800 wheel horsepower?

do a battery relocation on it, the original design is really not good at is socks up a lot of engine heat

No I just ordered a replacement core, so it reuses the existing front and rear housings.

Hey why did you change your wastegate any problems or code im getting p1228 Wastegate Failed Open (Under pressure) But it drives fine sometimes and sometimes feels like boost cutting off

Sad update i wrote off my vs commie popping the whole rear axle out but of all cars i got a vt calais series 2 v6 and cream and black interior bought it for 7g very good car so far has 273th ks tho but eco runs better than my vs even did with 73th less than this lowered already and already comes with extractors and a custom exhaust very very good note also shaun u know where to get a vt calais black dash facia needs to be calais because of foglights my dash has a crack and want to replace it any ideas?

Yeah, has been ever since I bought the car. It hasn't been an issue up until now, but it could have worn the bearings out quicker if there was any imbalance. Considering it's been tuned at 15psi since around 2007 I think it's done pretty well.

Hey man I see your from around the Ipswich region so am I lol I have a phantom purple xr6 that I’m one day wanting to turbo would absolutely love to catch up sometime or ba able to chat in new to the ford falcon scene my first car and still my baby I wanna v8 when I have the funds is a 93 vp commodore Ute am looking to buy au lol I’m a new dad lol my first born absolute gorgeous little girl just turned 5 months old I envy that you can still do what you do go to work daily and be a father got any good tips haha?

I'd say it's howling due to the bent fin on the compressor wheel 😉

I suppose it wouldn't have helped though, probably accelerated the wear on the bearings if there was any imbalance.

@@MotoringBoxTV yes you're probably correct, also when you replaced the rear housing there is a very high risk of putting enough pressure on the shaft to bend it enough to put it out of balance due to the side load on the turbine wheel when forced against the housing when trying to get it freed from the core.. 😬🙄
