It's was 12 but some of the bread rolls and loafs were too small so to make up for the missing weight they gave an one extra so no one would think they were getting scammed

They had laws in place governing bread sales but they didn't have scales in medieval England. The extra piece was to make certain the weight was correct and no one was cheated since the King had the laws in place and if a customer made a complaint,the baker could be fined or even imprisoned.

Oh that’s cool that you used to do that. I think it’s really great when people actually learn a trade. It gives you a perspective, worke thick, and it makes it easyer to support yourself through collage if you chose to go.
