The fact the series still carries the "Tom Clancy's" is just so funny to me.

Playing Tom Clancy games over the years feels like it started with The Hurt Locker and has now evolved to Independence Day.

I am now actually expecting news any day of Tom Clancy rising from his grave, transforming into The Hulk, and rampaging through Ubisoft HQ.

Ubisoft went from making some of my favorite games and franchises of all time to literally the most generic, MCU level consumer grade "product" i have ever seen in my life. Their video games are what you see people play in the background of movies.

Frankly, at this point I don't really give a toss if the game is good or not - I'd rather not give Ubisoft the slightest hint that this is how I want to see "Tom Clancy's" games. If they had named this 'Space Flu Hunt 3000', then perhaps.

If you want the Old School Rainbow Six experience play games like Zero Hour and Ready or Not.

its wild to me what Tom Clancy and Rainbow Six are now...R6 was my first "serious" shooter and I have great memories of being in my first gaming clan in R6...me a 13 year old kid in a clan where everyone is older and either cops or veterans lol. Even Tom Clancy, one of the first big authors I got into (because of the game) is just a brand now. So fucking weird.

Ubisoft should really drop Tom Clancy's name of both Ghost Recon and R6. They are nothing of what his vision was, which was to bring more serious insight in military tactics but with a fictional setting to the world

Honestly mate if you enjoy this you'll love deep rock galactic, very similar feel with the tense endings on higher difficulties

Hot take. This still looks like way more fun than Back 4 Blood. I beat that game's campaign and legitimately never want to go back.

Playing it with some mates definitly has this feeling of a game that is going to be everyone's addiction for a week or two and then lose any interest whatsoever in it once you've reached that point where you've done it all atleast once. Playing on higher difficulty, needing to sneak around, communicate, use your sidearm a lot before you pull out the big guns and teamshoot the tougher enemies is definitly the way to play. It is fun actually having some level of risk and consequences. There's definitly a solid foundation at hand that could be something bigger should the game succeed. However a good foundation isn't going to keep people playing for a long time periode or to come back every now and then and I think some of their decisions to really copy Siege a bit too much are a detriment. Like its cool that operators have limited access to weapons and I guess its fine that they keep things simple when it comes to customization. No bells ,whistles and tons of gimmicks, but the flipside is that there isn't really too too much you can do for builds and setups either and you'll catch yourself playing the same way over and over again. For some Operators, they pretty much start off with the best setup like Lion. He already has one of the best ARs from the get go, while for some others, its their final unlock. If you break the immersion of realism with aliens, you might as well go and make it cool.

Sigh, I miss Rainbow Six. I'd love to see a proper Rainbow Six 4. Something along the lines of the first three Rainbow Six games, but with the quality-of-life improvements from the later ones (particularly Vegas). Just give me up to four teams of eight operators which I can design a plan for, and initiate that plan while making on-the-fly changes! Is that so difficult?!? It'll never happen though. :( At least someone made a fan mod for Rainbow Six Rogue Spear, which puts all of the missions from the stand-alone expansions and the first game, into one coherent package that easily runs on modern computers.

The protean boss fights unlocks cosmetics for that operator that you encountered as a protean. I remembered getting Sledge protean chibi and uniform from him.

So, pretty much what I expected the game to be, except a bit short in settings (was more thinking six or seven, when I heard about the maps being somehwat shuffled each playthrough). And considering that even the Deluxe Edition doesn't cost full price (40€ standard, 50€ deluxe - fullprice would be 60€), it seems they know what they made here was not the next GOTY contender, but just a decent coop shooter. I may consider picking it up because of that.

Pretty bizarre that the reviews for this game are all over the place, this is the best review for the game I've come across. Game is no where near being awful like some are saying, and I'm having a blast with it despite some of its issues. One person who reviewed it I feel like just went out of there way to be negative about it but yet they gave Cyberpunk 2077 a glowing review... I honestly am really enjoying this game. It's really fun to play with friends and I don't even care if it still has Clancys name in it.

Sometimes it takes a slightly mediocre version of the game to have the next iteration be so much better. I would love to see these mechanics fleshed out even more and taking to new heights in the future. Just the consequences of losing leading to a new mission or mechanic is very cool. I feel like I have played games that had this type of mechanic in the past but cannot remember anymore from my brain being flooded with generic Battle Royals and MTX games. I do not understand the hate behind this game other than jaded players due to Ubisoft.
