Great fix! Super easy and sufficient. I’ve been trying to figure out if drilling from the top down at a 45*, square to the trigger stop when depressed, tap the back Forman set screw to hold the spring . In a perfect design a plunger and spring system like an ar bolt release would be the more reliable and lasting than just a spring, because the trigger stop rotates. Even better would be to spring load it with a coil like an actual seer.

My business machine background comes in handy on gun springs. There are many tools for working on springs. They are called capture spring hooks, push spring hooks and regular spring hooks. The others of course are very small needle nose pliers and hemostats of varying sizes. You can make regular sp hooks with a good wire, even a coat hanger. All you do is taper the wire in a grinder or sander with a long taper depending on the strength you want for the size spring you need to work with. We usually had about 6-8 different sizes as back then the machines were completely mechanical and springs were the power behind the mechanisms. Just make the taper, heat the end red and drop it on a hard surface and it will form the hook. A capture is a spring loaded hook with a spring loaded sliding sleeve you pull back with your finger to release it's grip that holds the spring in the hook, these are manufactured hooks, a push-pull hook is made by heating the hook twice and forming a "squiggle" or "horizontal s" on the end that allows the spring to be pushed, these are not as commonly used but are indispensable as only a hemostat might be used in it's place but the push-pull is smaller and will go in small places. These are very much needed tools for working on mechanical mechanisms. thanks for the tutorial on the mod for much better reliability as only United States americans can do really well from a free society.

For $380, and years of R&D, you would think they could have worked out this problem and used a high quality spring. Especially, since the disassembly procedure for the FRT includes moving that lever to remove the trigger.

Thanks for the great video.I think this mod will help considerably with the "kinking spring" problem. A secondary mod would be to limit the excessive throw of the trigger stop lever. This can easily be accomplished by removing a slight amount of material from the BCG where it contacts the trigger stop lever or in the alternative, to remove a small amount of material from the trigger stop lever where the BCG contacts it. The goal of the secondary mod would be to limit the forward movement or throw of the trigger stop lever to where it "just" unlocks the trigger without exerting more than needed stress on the spring .One should be cognate of the issue that not all full auto BCG have the same dimensions. I opine that the two mods MIGHT increase the reliability of this trigger to acceptable levels. However, I could be wrong.

I haven't reached out to them. Part of the problem is the different tolerance of bolt carrier to sear pushing to far forward on the sear. If every trigger was smithed to each, then this probably be that big of an issue. My guess is the updated version will probably have a leaf spring design for the trigger lock sear. It would allow for wider range of tolerance without smithing the bolt carrier to the trigger.

The assumption that “fixing the spring/guide” is valid cannot be logically ascertained until after the system is “correctly” installed. A proper installation makes it generally impossible to damage the spring. Rare Breed has stated this fact multiple times, but without an emphasis on installation procedure. They effectively say that if the system is “correctly” installed then the “problem” does not exist.
@0661mike3 жыл бұрын
I feel that they could eliminate tolerance issues with bolt carrier to sear, if they would change the current design of the trigger lock sear to a leaf spring in my opinion. Current design is doable if the bolt carrier is properly timed to sear. I would still recommend the cut bevel incase of over travel of the sear do to the enertia when bolt hits the sear.
@texasrevolver49433 жыл бұрын
@@0661mike a gunsmith hard fit type install is pretty much a sure thing. The nature of a hard fit process will itself eliminate said “tolerance issues”. So, the problem here is not an actual engineering failure, but an owner/operator failure to understand the system’s mechanics.
