Thanks! Yep, if it gets too hot they will go under the rocks. Its hard to say the ideal temperature. Basically looking for the type of day than the temperature. Wait for a warm/hot day to follow after a cool/rainy day. Thats when you'll know snakes will be out to get warmed up. If its been hot for days before you hunt, it will be only in the early morning and late evening that they will come out. The rocks can keep the heat for a long time and they will not need to get sun to warm up.

Leatherwood Outdoors I like the fact that Pennsylvania has sensible snake hunting laws. I understand that different places have different populations, but as a snake lover the round up kind of rub me the wrong way.

The round up is a no kill hunt. All snakes are brought in and recorded for studies. All snakes must be released back to where they were caught.

Leatherwood Outdoors Yeah, I hadn't watched the whole video yet. I was referring to the Texas round up where 10s of thousands are killed every year.

there are several things that we can do with them. Some guys keep them as pets. Some guys keep them, show them off, then release back where they caught them. Some guys kill the snake ( 1 per year with a license) eat it and preserve the hide.

I was just curious if you kept any as pets youself.

if we tag out on a snake that is close to shedding we try to keep it alive in a cage until it sheds its skin on its own.

we killed more birds than what we got on video. Some of the guys just didnt get the kills on film. Very busy year also, and hard to find the time to hunt.

in some places they are really really bad. Constantly checking.

Eli Sseruwagi so what do I say to people who say leave the cows alone and go eat snakes instead? Which animal is more important? I dont see a reason not to eat them. What if i was eating bacon ; would you still ask me why I do not leave pigs alone and eat something else?
