It's a nice touch Hudzen singing 'Goodbye' from 'Oh, What A Lovely War' because that musical's author Charles Chilton also wrote 'Journey Into Space' the hit 1950's BBC radio series and the four protagonists do have a similar dynamic to the Boys from the Dwarf.

sure, they're jerks, but sometimes an outsider shows up and lets "The Boys From The Dwarf" be jerks to a common target and Lister responding to Kryten making the standard 'androids struggle to understand human emotions' comment with "Don't give me the Star Trek crap, it's too early in the morning!" is an all time fan favorite Red Dwarf line. And few better sum up the Red Dwarf attitude/approach to science fiction.

Ah yes, that missing Doctor Who adventure 'The Hoppists', when the Ninth Doctor and Rose attended a prayer meeting of the Seventh-Day Advent Hoppists and the Doctor happened to mention "That was a bit rubbish! One thing to mention is that the theme tune composer sings the title of the show four times through a vocoder during the new opening theme tune. It was only announced recently, but if you listen to, say, around 19 seconds in, you can hear him going "Reeeeeeeeeeed Dwarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfffffffffffffff". No joke. The books make the whole "Silicon Heaven" thing even darker, elaborating that after a mechanoid rebellion a junior programmer realised the only way to ensure machines stronger and smarter than humans remained subservient was to give them religion. And from that point on anything with AI was fitted with a "belief chip" that made sure they thought a lifetime of servitude would eventually be rewarded.

Always nice to see Bob without the Kryten suit. Fun fact, he was the only member of the original cast that was in the aborted American pilot of Red Dwarf, and the only good thing about the experience was the more comfy Krytenhead. As for Rimmer, he shouldn't be killable without destroying the hologram suite, but they retcon things a bit in the next season. As with smelling the burning wood, the joke is worth it. This one always reminds me of my misspent youth... I managed to get the traffic cone, but the police woman arrested me.

The ending is a little anti-climactic... although how it is ended is wonderful, and of course set up at the start. The fight against the newer model could perhaps have been prolonged, but really it was about Kryten's last day, not about the battle to save him. Whilst ya'll these days are used to tv series having some amazing season finale, that's never really been how I've viewed most tv shows that I watch - or at least, watched growing up in the 80's. Whilst Doctor Who occasionally had a big season finale - generally that was for a regeneration.
