Hail Anomaly Down with PT hate. OT only fanboys want only rebels vs empire 2.0 3.0 4.0 etc... Im glad that there is many in galaxy that can use lightsaber and wider scope of universe. Its natural way how story should go foward. Explaining wider galaxy and seing Jedi and Sith at their prime Same with JP lost world when Rex was unleashed on city. Everyone wanted that after first movie to see dinos on land and JP1 book is much better than movie and explain chaos theory far better

@@alfredvickers4054 For real. It's strange that I could follow and understand Anakin's turn when I was like 12. Admittedly, it was a strange idea for me that a hero could turn to the dark side, because I never thought something like that would happen in a movie, and I was shocked when he became Darth Vader, but it was easy enough for me to understand.

Very well said. I sincerely wish they had produced George Lucas' actual sequel stories. Then we'd have had a cohesive saga. Sounds like his Episodes 7, 8 and 9 had continuity with Episodes 1 to 6, an actual plot, and proper new characters including the Whills, Plageuis, Darth Talon, Kira (possibly Skywalker) and the next Skywalker's, and unified the galaxy again. Oh what could have been. The prequels had a strong story, a coherent vision, solid characters (both heroes and villains) and Continuity. They form one big story with the originals. I am sure George's sequels would have too and it's probable he seeded in Darth Plageuis in ROTS for a reason and was about to explain the Whills and midichlorians. ROTS was phenomenal. But the prequels are Star Wars. They feel like Star Wars. I enjoyed them then and enjoy them even more now. The sequels just aren't sequels because TFA doesn't continue the story. They're a mess with zero plot, zero connectivity to the saga, and zero good characters. The dialogue and random Rey is cringeworthy. I thank George Lucas for HIS saga and wish we'd seen his concluding chapters. Oh what might have been. It is a travesty what have been termed as 'the sequels' instead.

@@eliaspeter7689 I can't see how anyone could possibly like the Originals and the (so called) Sequels. As someone who likes Episodes 1 to 6 and Rogue One and wishes we'd seen George's sequels, I cannot fathom how someone can purely like the OT and TFA and TLJ. TFA is just not a continuation from ROTJ at all. It denigrates everything that both heroes and villains who came before achieved. It has no story, no substance, cringeworthy dialogue, no advancement or character motivations, no backstory. It pretty much ruins the entire premise of the originals and in particular attacks and demolishes the original characters. Where the prequels maintain story and compliment the OT, the sequels do not. The sequels are just "The Emperor without Clothes" analogy. And they have random arrogant, condescending and rude Rey beating Luke Skywalker for goodness sake. Literally no backstory and some random bad guy is more powerful than any villain combined and just is in charge with no explanation. It's the most unimaginative storytelling at its finest. How could someone possibly like those and the OT which it literally has to leech off and stand on its corpse to shine?!

@@thepubknight6144 Nah I disagree, the target demographic might have been children but there was always something I'm there for adults. Revenge of the Sith is a movie I like that I've always had a love-hate relationship, on the one hand, it has epic battles and the politics wraps up in an engaging way but the emotional moments can feel forced at times, I'll explain: 1. Obi-Wan vs Anakin: The battle between brothers is engaging but we've seen them act like brothers only at the beginning of the movie, they're transition from having a very uneasy master-student relationship is mostly skipped between AOTC and ROTS. The 1st act of ROTS suggest they've grown but most of that growth happens off screen, also most of their relationship is them gossiping in bad faith, at odds with each other, they don't even seem to like each other. I mean this makes sense in the context of one of the reasons of Anakin's fall was his lack of a proper father figure but then the fight and the emotional impact isn't felt as much. Also I know Anakin says he loves Obi-Wan like a father but I mean it isn't really shown much. 2. Count Dooku's death: I like everyone else in the Star Wars Fandom with a brain cell loves Count Dooku, he's better than Grievous and Kylo Ren, his problem is he's underutilised in the prequels, his past as a Jedi isn't explored well as much as it could be, he's only used in the final act and while he kind of starts The Clone Wars, I didn't personally see enough from him in AOTC to care about his death in ROTS, although I don't fully count this as he's more of a "plot device" to progress Anakin's fall and start off the war, which I think is what Lucas intended.
@TooSweet353
@TooSweet353 Жыл бұрын
3. The Jedi Purge and Order 66: Order 66 has always been a good scene but then, I had 2 problems: We never got to know any Jedi except Mace Windu and Yoda and Windu is kind of an a-- hole and Yoda isn't focused enough on. This makes Order 66 sad but not on a deeper level because we never got to know cool Jedi in the Trilogy or the Jedi deeper, I personally think but I'm not George so I can't make demands that: Phantom Menace- Yoda, Count Dooku and Mace Windu should be involved majorly. AOTC- Plo Koon, Kit Fisto and Shaak Ti(perhaps badass scenes with Ayla Secura and Ki Adi Mundi). Also the Jedi Purge, I found it hard to believe Anakin would be OK with murdering younglings and fully committing to the Dark Side, I mean, only Windu was an a-- hole, the council were unfair in ROTS but I mean is that enough to make him willing to accept the murder every single Jedi. 4. General Grievous: General Grievous and Admiral Holdo are two of my least favourite Star Wars Characters, Grievous is to represent a cowardly robotic villain but then that's such a waste of his tragedy, a tragedy only rivaled by Darth Vader. Also how is a coward the leader of the Droid Army? Why is the Droid Army treated like a joke, like won't Palpatine's plan work faster if they were serious?
@TooSweet353

5. Padme-Anakin Relationship: Now I think that the awkward interactions were on purpose by George Lucas but then we don't see to progress from awkward to comfortable, I know this is opinionated but why should I care about Anakin betraying Padme when all we see is their awkward interactions and why does Padme like Anakin? I know this is strange but why?

TFA just isn't a sequel and has no plot at all. The sequels are like "The Emperor without Clothes story." Just a big con. The Prequels are not only original, but a coherent story with interesting characters and connectivity/continuity with the Originals to form one story. ROTS in particular was a phenomenal movie. On the "no" scene: while I think it's already quite good, I just had an idea for how to take it to an 11/10: Toward the end of surgery, Anakin looks at Palpatine, hope in his eyes. Palpatine knows what he means to ask, says "it seems that in your anger, you killed her." Anakin's head sinks back to the table, tears stream down his face. As the helmet is lowered, he screams a long "nooo!" - and as the helmet clasps on, Hayden's voice morphs into James EJ's. Cue the machinery destruction, etc.

Now lemme add a tiny detail that would amp the idea from an 11/10 to a 10000000/10 lol (it’s a hyperbole yes) When Vader busts out of his restraints from the operating table, after he takes his first few steps onto the floor, on the last step he falls on his knees (I mean he’s now become a cyborg; he hasn’t even gotten used to his new legs). Now Vader is on his hands and knees, truly powerless and subservient to Darth Sidious, who just smiles. That little detail would suggest far better blocking; it’s only a tiny change that adds a lot of detail.

Fun fact about the Vader "no" scene. He actually wasn't screaming no. The reason Vader's voice sounds robotic is because his vocal cords were burnt so badly that he could barely speak. The suit actually has transponders integrated into his vocal cords. So when he found out his was dead he actually let out a cry of rage and sorrow, but the suit couldn't translate when he was saying because it's not designed to translate screams, so the suit translated it as the closest thing it's programming could it could translate the screaming to which just so happened to be the word no. This explanation is in one of the novels. It's in either the revenge of the sixth novel or it might of been the lords of the sixth novel. I cant remember which one but I'm pretty sure it was in one of those two novels.

That review was so pathetic... He says that the movie is bad, but when he analyze the parts he has to praise them because the are actually good... The only problem i have with the prequels are the cringy love dialogues in Attack of the Clones. Those scenes are hard to watch, but that is an accurate depiction of how inexperienced young lovers interact: like idiots. I also behaved in some really dumb and embarrassing ways when i was young and in love, and i bet most people did. Still that shit is painful to remember when i think about it, and watching Anakin and Padme act like that is painful to watch XD Ty for your videos Anomaly, keep up with the good work.

Finally! Finally someone that recognizes Anakin's REGRET of what he must do to save his wife! On Mustafar he is freaking crying after slaying all the Separatists! He's not proud of what he has done but, just as he later tells Padmé, he did it to protect her. Sure, this is a messed up form of love, a certain point of view of it, but Anakin still has his full legit reasons. I was once one of those that claimed Anakin turned too fast in ROTS but I have come to realize that it wasn't that quick as most still keep insisting. The film itself has from then on a fast pace as well so time seems to fly by faster to us watching than it does for the characters, the trick is to not fall for the swift pacing. Time doesn't pass quite as fast as it may seem. But most importantly, & this is aimed at all OT lover (which I strongly belong to myself), remember that goodness that Luke insisted was there in his father? ROTS bloody shows us! And Anakin's tears is the direct proof! He hates himself for what he has done but he did it. The regret & conflict, that is the goodness Luke much later speaks of, it never fully went away, hence Vader was able to be redeemed at all. If Lucas had never given us that scene with Anakin crying it had been far harder to explain what that goodness ever was that Luke spoke of. And one can say whatever you want about Lucas but here he chose the clever move; show, don't tell! He showed us Anakin's tears without dialogue & Anakin is all alone. But WE see his pain! Then there's also the actual temptation of the Dark Side itself (a fact the sequel trilogy clearly has no idea it exists). Once Padmé shows up on Mustafar you can tell something has happened to Anakin since we last saw him crying. Now he has changed from regretting his evil deeds to feeling he did it for a good cause. Seeing Padmé reminds him of why he did it & his excuses to justify what he has done comes to him as easily as the air he breathes (how anyone can breathe outside on Mustafar is a gigantic error but that is a very different criticism). Many bash Hayden for not being a good actor. I think he is great in showing us how the Dark Side affects him, slowly but surely corrupts him. Palpatine planted the seeds, yes. But it is mostly the temptation of the Dark Side itself that corrupts Anakin, as all others that fall to the Dark Side. It's like being high on drugs before it wares off. At this stage, Anakin is high on his success. He embraces powers he feels he should have done ages ago but stupid rules forbid him. Now he has taken out his revenge on the people that claimed to be his friends but never embraced him, only used him in the damn Clone Wars because he was their greatest fighter. Padmé is now safe & there's no more reason to hide their marriage or her pregnancy. An enormous rock has been lifted off his shoulders, he is free! The power of the Dark Side gave him freedom & immense powers. Why stop now? OK, he killed a bunch of kids & Padmé demands to know about it but note that he never really answers her. he doesn't deny the claim but he changes the focus so that it is Obi that puts bad ideas into her head. The really interest aspect, though, of the actual temptation is that, back in the old OT days & in TESB Vader asked Luke to join him so they together could get rid of Palpatine. We knew from TESB that Vader was never really loyal to his Master. In ROTS he let's us know that already THEN he had the same idea! He gives his wife the same offer to take over the galaxy & overthrow Palpatine just as he later offers the same to his son. If Anakin can betray Palpatine that fast & that soon after having turned then it's perfectly clear that the temptation of the Dark Side is stronger than any love or allegiances or friendships. This is why his turn happened "so fast" as so many say. But they think it happens in only one scene. It doesn't. It started already in AOTC, continues in Clone Wars when Anakin resisted the Dark for a VERY long time, & the final turn happens in many stages all over ROTS. Killing Dooku was a major step, let's not forget that. And even after having done it Anakin said it was wrong, it wasn't the Jedi way. But the best clue is yet again those tears. I always say that anyone that sees Anakin's tears on Mustafar & don't understand why he's crying that person has never understood what SW is about at all. Those tears are the sign of the goodness that still exists in him that Luke manages to reach in ROTJ. In a way, Anakin turned perhaps quickly to some. But to me he never fully turned 100%.

Anakin’s turn to the dark side wasn’t rushed at all. Aside from the defense that it was established previously in Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, Anakin didn’t truly become Darth Vader in essence the moment he bowed before Sidious. He only took on the mantle of Sidious’s new apprentice (then again you don’t just become a Jedi by swearing fealty; you have to be initiated as proof of devotion to their Order’s tenets). Massacring everyone in the Jedi Temple and all the Separatists on Mustafar were all a part of Anakin’s initiation, including ripping him and morals apart.

Great video and I really liked ROTS (and the prequels). Continuity, connectivity with the wider saga to form one story, actors/actresses who fit their roles, characters with motivations, a grandeur about it, a galactic plot, high stakes, and heroes and villains you respect and understand. Backstory, an actual story, the list goes on. Thank you George Lucas. I wish we'd seen his sequels. Right now we never actually got an Episode 7 to begin with. I also feel that Lucas seeded in Darth Plageuis to ROTS for a reason. I loved the prequels with Qui Gon and "They're still coming through!" in TPM. Although I'd adjust some dialogue in AOTC, it still had a solid story. And ROTS was beyond phenomenal. I enjoyed the films back then and enjoy them even more now. I saw the originals first, love the prequels and love the real Star Wars (Episodes 1 to 6 and Rogue One). If they'd used George Lucas' sequel stories which he left them to produce, we might have had something GREAT - i.e. the CREATOR'S VISION. Keep up your great videos! One thing I have noticed about SW. Is that a lot of the dialogue at base is wonky but end up working really well due to either/both the delivery visual scene. One thing I think George truely excels at is visual storytelling over the dialogue. Many plotpoints in both the prequels and original movies are shown over told to the audience yet people like nostalgia critic often says we need less subtlety in films yet many subtle things were missed in the movie by NC.

I can even come up with an explanation as to why Anakin kills so many people: with the Jedi, he sees them as hypocrites, because A) they refused to promote him to Master after he killed Count Dooku, a bad guy who was at the same level as Yoda in terms of power, B) they betrayed the Republic and asked him to commit treason by spying on the Chancellor, their rightful sovereign and Anakin's friend, and C) the Jedi Master Mace Windu tried to off a helpless and defeated opponent, showing that while Anakin himself struggles with the Jedi Code, the other Masters are willing to break it if it suits their purposes. Hence why he rejects the Jedi and sees them all as a joke. Basically, they proved themselves to be assholes, traitors, and ruthless killers, hence why he decided to put them down. Even if we cut Padme out of the equation, Anakin would still have turned because of these factors. As for the younglings, he wanted them to die innocent. He didn't want Palpatine to turn them, and knowing Palpatine, he'd probably torture them to turn them into Dark-Side monsters. By giving them a quick death, Anakin was giving them the same treatment Lennie got from Of Mice and Men. As for the Confederates, he always viewed them as assholes, so he didn't care about killing them all-they made the galaxy suffer, and now he's killing them off. The only thing I couldn't figure was why he didn't prolong their suffering, since as a veteran of the Clone Wars from the Republic side, I thought he'd take his time with offing those guys.

I guess your bit about the younglings makes sense, but this looked more like a sadistic manslaughter than mercy killings. @@HolyknightVader999 Bro I really want them to remake the Thrawn trilogy to make it fit into canon. What I'd give to see Mara Jade too...but she was born 2 years AFTER the Republic was reorganized, so it wouldn't really...fit. But since we're sharing our stuff, here's the stuff I would have included in the masterpiece that is ROTS: - Anakin MUSTN’T KILL THE KIDS. Include his murder of Shaak Ti, by all means, but the fact that he would only kill one Jedi implies that he only killed a few major masters, and the clones did the rest. So, after that, have him enter the council chambers, hoping to find the remaining members and kill them. But instead, he finds the children. For a second he looks undeterred, but then begins to realize what he was about to do. He leaves in regret, hyperventilating (for two reasons: one being that he’s seeing what he’s become, and the other because Palpatine had told him that killing as many Jedi as possible would have gave him more power, so he’s lost more power to save Padme). But then, a squad of troopers enters and shoots the younglings anyway, leaving Anakin buried in guilt and misery as he's torn between saving those he loved or protecting the life he's lived for the last 13 years. - This leads to the Mustafar scene, where everything plays out the same, except for one key thing, Obi-Wan makes his presence known to Anakin by shouting out his name. Anakin feels genuinely betrayed by the two people left in his life that he cares about, and angrily question if Padme and he were planning to assassinate him. He unintentionally starts choking Padme, and slowly raises his hand while doing. But Anakin stops choking Padme early here, realizing he gave into his anger and fulfilled his own prophecy. He hastily goes to Padme’s side, trying to keep her alive with the force while caressing her face. But Padme passes out, and Anakin mistakes it for her dying, finally giving into his hatred of the Jedi and blaming Obi-Wan for provoking him. - Finally, there's his suit-up into Vader. I subscribe to the theory that Anakin was unintentionally draining Padme's life-force, thereby fulfilling his own prophecy and referencing the Darth Plaegius story to further cement the story as a parallel to Anakin's. This would also require more Shot-Reverse-Shots (SRS) to convey the sense that Padme’s life-force is being drained from her. And while it IS possible for people to die of broken hearts from emotional stress, this idea would work better as to play up Vader's fulfillment of the Sith legend. - Also, a more audible “Padme help me” from Anakin when he's putting the Vader helmet on.

@@arnavbhattacharjee2035 Oh no, I wouldn't kill Shaak Ti either. In my ideal ROTS, Anakin doesn't kill the kids or Shaak Ti. I'd just show him killing Cin Drallig from the EPIII video game. Instead, Shaak Ti and a bunch of other Jedi escape, while Anakin tricks the kids into believing that the Jedi have betrayed the Republic, and that the Chancellor will take care of them. That will then lead to these kids being the future Inquisitorius/Shadow Guards of the Empire, with one notable exception-a little red-haired girl who will later be revealed to be Mara Jade. The stuff in Mustafar still goes on as is. As for Padme, I cut out that whole "she lost the will to live" shit, and she's staying in Naboo after Kenobi and Yoda took the kids. A bunch of Stormtroopers barge into her palace, and they promise her safe passage to Coruscant, saying that her husband sent for them to get her back safe to the capital. Padme tells them to tell Anakin that she loves him. When the soldiers reply that she should tell him that herself, face to face, Padme says that she can't follow Anakin anymore, and she can't stand to live in an oppressed galaxy. Due to the bond between her and Anakin, she also couldn't hide her presence from him. She then pulls a blaster and blows her brains out, with the Stormtroopers then asking "who wants to tell Lord Vader about this?" Palpatine tells Vader what happened, but then blames it on the Jedi, saying that they twisted her mind to act like that, Vader explodes in rage, and a massive burst of Dark Force energy destroys the medical facility where he is being treated. Everything but Palpatine gets blown away, since Palpatine shields himself with the Force. Vader screams in anger, saying that he will make the Jedi pay. Palpatine smiles, realizing that despite his injuries, Vader is still powerful. Vader then swears that he will kill every surviving Jedi out there, and Palpatine consoles him by saying that justice will be served.

@@HolyknightVader999 That's fair. My version is more suited to the Disney canon (which, IMO has the BETTER version of the prequels). Your version definitely works better for Legends or even the saga if TCW hadn't been made. I just did what I thought was best and adhered to canon as best as possible.

Even though I kinda...KIIIIINNNDAA agree (I'm not as harsh on the sequels, because I don't want to be like the guys who bashed the prequels, and I find the original EU to be REALLY damn hard to navigate through), I wouldn't insult people who like Disney Star Wars and accuse them of "not having a brain". Let them like what they like, they don't have to follow everything in the EU; I should know. Besides, whether it be through one form or the other, at least they're enjoying SOMETHING with the Star Wars name. Isn't that what matters to the newer audiences in the end?

Anakin's turn felt fast in episode 3 but out of no where? Not quite! It was definitely developed over the course of the 3 films. The prequels are superior to the sequels! Being that I was a young teenager when the prequels were released I'm probably a lot more lenient on them than older fans of the saga. And wow... Now that I look at it, The Phantom Menace was 1999?! I was 11... That really feels like a lifetime ago! Great times were the late 90's and early 2000's! Also Chris Stuckmann is so flat and boring I can't even say anything negative about the guy lol

The prequels were awesome. I saw the originals first, but love the prequels. And they all form one story. I wish they'd used George Lucas' sequel scripts instead of throwing those out. I liked Rogue One, but don't feel that the so called sequels are sequels at all. Phantom Menace, the opening with Qui Gon and "They're still coming through," was epic. ROTS was phenomenal. The only thing I'd change would be some dialogue in AOTC. But each movie has a plot and continuity with the originals to form one big story. I don't like TFA/TLJ at all.

when it comes to thinking for both trilogies, the Prequels make you think about certain situations and ponder everyone's thoughts or the deeper meaning of a scene. but the Sequels just make you HAVE to think of head canon explanations for there stupid leaps in logic, because by this time it's obvious to everyone that there was no plan for the Sequels.

I must thank you for this and the "Danaerys=Anakin" response for helping shed more light on how Anakin's turn and the actions he took were internally consistent. Despite always trying to analyse a film as well as I can, the "Anakin's arc is rushed" bandwagon was something I was aboard until you brought something new to the table. I will say in regard to you saying "What else was Vader supposed to say?" though, I will offer one alternative to the "Nooo" - a visceral, primal scream of anguish would fit far better than any words whatsoever. Also, as for 16:07 "What plot threads don't make sense", there are a few, though Anakin's arc is fine. The main one would probably be Palpatine informing Anakin that Grievous was on Utapau, as killing off Grievous would go against Palpatine's best interests of extending the war as much as possible to retain his emergency powers. You could argue that he felt ready to enact his plan and needed to make sure Obi-Wan was away from Coruscant, which is fair. However, he'd be assuming a lot to be confident Obi-Wan would be sent to Utapau and overall, there was no guarantee Anakin would be completely turned to being loyal to Palpatine and start Order 66 prior to being stripped of his emergency powers. I'd say it would have made more sense for Palpatine to reveal where Grievous was after he had fully secured Anakin's loyalty by testing him when revealing his true allegiance. Alongside that is Palpatine's actions in the Darth Plagueis the Wise scene. Whilst I enjoy the scene, Palpatine actively professing his knowledge of a Sith Legend in detail should have been a huge red flag for Anakin and an overly bold move for Palpatine when he had no guarantee yet Anakin would be swayed to his side. The other big one would be Padme's infamously contrived death of dying from a broken heart. Whilst you can theorise Palpatine drained her life force, such isn't officially confirmed by any sources and even if she lacked the will to live, it'd be a huge stretch to assume the highly advanced medical facilities wouldn't be able to save her. There's also a few dumb character decisions. For instance, Obi-Wan never bothers showing the security footage of Order 66 to Padme for her to bring to the senate. Even if he believed her too emotionally distraught, Bail would have been a good candidate. Also, how long until you do a response to the Plinkett reviews? He's the one Revenge of the Prequels topic I'm wanting to see you cover as I find some of his points to still hold some weight and it would be interesting to see the arguments against them, even if it'll result in several EFAP tier analyses to get through even one of the reviews thoroughly.

It's so annoying and sad that NOW everyone is returning to regard the Prequels in a more positive light because while these same ass's said that George "Raped their childhood", Disney killed Star Wars, raped its corpse, brought it back and raped it again while barely acknowledging the prequels and completely spitting in the face of the original trilogy these older fans live and die for to the extent they made a movie on how much they hate George Lucas. Congrats, you reap what you sow. you get what you dish out in the end.
