In the cafe, Kamala and Kamran talked about Bollywood stars "Kingo" and "Kingo Senior"...from the Eternals.

Good pick up. Although Kingo never ages, so it was Kingo using “senior” to hide that fact.

The actress portraying Kamala never acted before, and was a MASSIVE Marvel comics and MCU fan, before the casting was released. A relative said they were looking for a Muslim-American girl about 16 from New Jersey. She IS the character.

"Muslim-American" isn't an ethnicity and doesn't get a hyphen any more than we write "Christian-American" or "Jewish-American," FWIW. Kamala is Pakistani-American.

The art styles incorporated into this series were so good, a big argument online whenever it was airing was it’s too childlike so adults wouldn’t like it. I liked it then, I like it now. Not everything is for everyone, having something lighter than what we’d gotten at this point was welcome. I love the whole Khan family, may be a completely different background but they all remind me of different family members I have.

loved this series sure I didnt much care for the villain and that part of the story but like the series "fresh of the boat", I enjoyed learning about another culture and the different/same family dynamics. I hope there is a season 2

In the comics, Kamala spends more time with Miles Morales' Spider-Man, since they're the same age.

@@MarcOfAnArtist-rg1qf: we've already seen Kamala, Kate Bishop, Scott Lang's daughter, who becomes Stature, the nephew of Isaiah Bradley who becomes Patriot, and White Vision (in the comics there's a rebuilt "young Vision), and Lionheart, which is six people for a team. There's also, in the comics, Scarlet Witch's twin boys, who would have to be moved from another universe in the MCU, but that's easy in a while, so they may come later.

Did you notice that the guy from the Department of Damage Control in the end-credits of the first episode, saying "pick her up" was the same Agent Foster who investigated Spider-Man after he "killed" Mysterio, and the same agent who interrogated everyone in SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME: Ned "(I wish to have my testimony stricken from the record"), Aunt May, MJ, Peter, etc? Marvel is very consistent with its continuity in even small parts.

I loved this series. Changes to Kamala's powers was one of the bigger issues with the fanboys. In the books she's more of a stretchy like powers that the hard light recreates to a point here. The stepping disc's are new to the series but it keeps getting better from here too. IMHO.

I personally think her original powers were way too close to those of Mr. Fantastic and too limited. I really prefer these powers, the connection to the cosmis and light powers, not to mention how it ties much more into her being a mutant as well in a way.

The stepping discs are a way of letting her get around without the stretchy legs from the comics.

There was pushback on the comics series for its progressive depiction of Muslims (like as relatable characters). I read it before the show and Kamala and her family were the most refreshing thing I’d read in comics in a long time. Been reading comics for over 50 years.

The problem is, that even with the loose connection, with all the hints and easter eggs in it, it is still better appreciated with knowledge of the other Arrowverse shows

And there's a lot of overlap between Hindi and Urdu - the latter being what Kamala's family speaks. I gather they're basically mutually intelligible, the main differences being their writing systems and Urdu has more words borrowed from Persian while Hindi has more from Sanskrit, but people who speak one can generally understand the other when spoken, from what I've heard.

You know it's gotta be a great ep when Kamala is groovin to one of the great hits from the 60s, Be My Baby by the Ronettes. Damage Control Division certainly has not gotten any better since SM Homecoming and No Way Home. Great watch, guys, very glad you're enjoying. Surprise ending 😊👍

There was a lot of thinly veiled racism and misogony around reaction to this series. If you were getting that in comments THIS long after, its pretty sad. I mean if it was just people saying it wasnt their taste, fine, but when this came out some truly vile things were posted.

@@richardb6260 Well if you look at it she hulk was terrible in every aspect except for the fun bits of Wong and his friend. But this was actually decent show, but the story wasn't interesting enough to be great but still far better compared to she hulk.

I'm going to make a suggestion for you: watch the movie RRR. I think you will love it. It's completely balls out crazy but in a really really good way. If you watch only one Bollywood movie, this is the one to watch. And if you don't watch any Bollywood movies, this is still one to watch. And if you want to see the British truly be the bad guys, damn they are the bad guys in the way that Nazis are the bad guys in our movies.

just because of the story they said at the dinner table, we assumed that the woman from the visions was Aisha :) but yeah obviously when you know it's not her, it sounds silly ^^

Anyway, I don't remember exactly (I work in the editing room) and I don't know if it's also in your reaction, but I think that even in this episode we showed Kamala's great-grandmother in one of the visions. I don't remember exactly and I didn't catch it in the reaction. Anyway, the editing of the show was already 3 (almost 4) years ago (?! time flies faaast) and I watched the reaction on the second monitor, mostly listening to your sweet-sounding voices 🍀 Actually, your reactions to the MCU made me watch the other shows that you watch and that I watch or have watched in the past. I don't understand, I mostly look at what people like and I've never had a conflict between work and hobby before.

I don't get all the negativity around this show. Having the main character as a young, American-Muslim woman; showing how the conflicts between her generation and earlier ones reflect both cultures, and educating about the terrible time of Partition, are all good things. And the lead is engaging and entertaining. Interesting visual style too. It perhaps isn't as consistent throughout the episodes, but you can only applaud its aims.

For what it's worth, I've watched every one of your Marvel reactions except Moon Knight (so disappointed in that one didn't want to relive it yet). In spite of all the nay sayers (many before the show even came on) I really enjoyed this series and her character. Enjoying spending time with you two again.
