Rock Buns in the Air Fryer

Today we'll have a go at doing Rock Buns in the Air Fryer. Let's see how they turn out!
Ingredients:
8oz self raising flour.
4oz margarine.
4 oz mixed fruit.
2 oz sugar.
1 egg
Milk to mix.
Method:
pre-heat the air fryer.
Rub the flour and margarine together.
Stir in the dried fruit and sugar.
Mix to a dough with the egg and milk.
Place in the air fryer at 160°c for 12 minutes.
If cooking in the oven, set it to 200°c, 400°f, gas mark 6 for 15 minutes.

Your rock cakes look great Maria and quite a simple recipe as well,I know it's good to have more room when you have a small kitchen but it's amazing how many times you go back and forth to the sink and cupboards when your cooking, I used to make a jelly for my kids that we called milk jelly and they loved it ,another enjoyable video flower Xx

These were lovely, and like you say, easy cakes to make. My youngest daughter doesn't like dried fruit, so I'm going to make some plain ones for her. She had to pick the fruit out of these so she'd eat it! 😂 Thank you for watching.

I used to be the rock bun queen when I was about 12 years old. I will now go and try this lot in the air fryer .

Hi Maria, they looked lovely and are so easy to make. It's years since i made rock cakes. I like how you measure in ozs, I'm the same. Could you maybe bring a dish of hot soapy water with you. My internet connection back on now, the last three days i couldn't get on anything on my tablet, our router is upstairs so John who is in the back bedroom with his computer was ok, but I'm downstairs in my tablet and it wasn't working for me. Anyway it working ok today so i can catch up.

It's good your Internet is sorted, mine often runs slow and that's a pain. Yes I always measure in pounds and ounces, I'm not very good with grammes (not even sure I can spell it correctly! 😂) That's a good idea to take a bowl of washing up water in with me. Thank you.

While watching that maria I did notice the glitching I thought it was mine at first till you said that about your phone as the film kept having like a sticking effect,I think you did well with them they look nice too maria,children go back to school next tuesday over here where i am monday is a day off for teachers training day.

The glitching started a couple of weeks ago, sometimes it's OK, then other times it plays up. I think it's time to save for a new phone! The rock buns were really nice. It often surprises me how well the air fryer cooks things. When I first had it I thought I wouldn't take to it, but I'm really enjoying using it. My grandchildren go back on Wednesday, I think they've got Monday and Tuesday as inset days.

Hi Maria, It has been years since I made rock cakes, thank you for the recipe, time and temperature for air frying. Will be definitely trying these. I use your recipe for scones that I make frequently.

You're very welcome. The rock buns were really nice, I'd definitely do them again in the air fryer. I do like scones, especially with a bit of butter on them.
