Maybe she's thinking Halep is not there, Osaka is out, Barty is out, Muguruza is out + I can handle Serena on a good day and that Sabalenka hasn't proved to be grand slam material yet, so why not me? Very high level based on these minimal highlights.

I’m glad I watched the match live because these crappy highlights won’t show you how great Sloane had to play. Even though Pliskova was out of breathe she hit some damn good ball today. Good match Sloane keep going

Happy to see Sloane doing well again and showing some real form, I always felt this tournament was made for her skills. I hope she goes on a run and makes it to the final, she been very quiet for a while so I'm glad to see her back playing well, very good player.

Both ladies have had careers that seem to have lost some direction after great starts. That said I like the way Stephens has been playing the last 6-9 months. Against Pliskova one can never be too confident. Well done Sloane....

The best I've seen Sloane strike the ball in about 2 1/2 years. The ball she is hitting is so tough to play against cause it has the MPH and RPMS on it. I hope she can keep this up.

That's a good win for Sloane . Sloane played sound tennis today. She has a lot of textbook strokes. There's a few players on tour Sloane will have to up the ante against but just solid sound tennis is going to get the job done for her more often than not.

I find it odd that many have walkouts after Osaka’s little kabuki theater! We will hear later about their movement and their struggles on tour…mark my word!!! Also I would not be surprised, if they doing it for cerdina, since this generation is about love and unity

Pliskova doesn't have a winning record against Stephens, so I can imagine Stephens was licking her chops at this first round matchup. *BUT, at this juncture, Stephens' better take the wins as she can get 'em, as her current day glory is playing 250 level tournaments*
