Baby steps towards setting up vegetable garden. (Almost) done with windows, refreshing brick floors and other updates.
I re-started my Etsy shop (proceeds will support the renovation of the Chateau) as well as Patreon account (also Chateau renovation). Looking into new windows, fence, and scaffolding first, in no particular order.
Also looking into workaway program, and if any of you have any experience, please let me know!
So many other projects on my list of things to do, not sure where to start.
I really would like to restore the front and back doors to the Chateau, as well as paint the foyer. That is, after I finish cleaning up all the shrubs/weeds (more on that next week). But I am pretty sure there will be hundreds of other things needing my immediate attention before I get to that.

If I were you I would plant the garden near the home so it will be handy to harvest and take to the kitchen.♥️♥️♥️♥️😘

That’s a great idea but in the future we are hoping to run few gites, so sort of need to keep that space clear so visitors can have their private gardens.

This is one of my favorite chateau's. It's petite and grand at the same time. If you want to paint the hallway brown just do it. Don't listen to anyone. It's your chateau. Your taste. Put your sparkly tigers and whatever you want wherever you want. Have fun with it!!

So impressed you are getting so much done!! I like the floors after all it's an old Chateau just use rugs under or around the bed. I'm glad others are giving you good advice for cleaning and other areas so you don't feel so overwhelmed. You are doing amazingly well I am so happy every time your video is in my notifications ❤️ ♥️

You sure get lots done! The foyer will look so much better without that turquoise colour but I would change the white to an off white so it doesn't clash with your dark brown and the gold trimmings sound perfect. The bedroom.floor looks so much warmer and inviting now. Thank you for sharing - its a privilege to be on this renovation journey with you. Cheers from Vancouver Canada!

Don't demolish any buildings yet. Wait until you are ready to build where they sit because plans can change. You have huge amounts of roofed over space on that property. It's great! That river is beautiful, maybe someday you will have a small boat there for summers.

I suggest that you change the green color in the foyer to light blue.

YOu have done a lot of work and I agree the foyer is very important!! Please reconsider "chocolate brown" as a replacement for the green?? Would you consider keeping it more neutral with a rich Mocha or Beige to balance with the flooring and yet not go to the extreme with a full on brown if you're planning on keeping the white?? The dark brown and white combination seems harsh unless you are going to have a faux wood finish on top of the brown to emulate wood. You can always go darker if necessary, but why not start light??

Suspect painting your entrance way chocolate brown will be rather depressing. Take a look at the the ballroom at Chateau de la Ferté. It has brown floors (in their case - wooden) but the room is light and airy and has a grand feel by using creams and golds. This would be wonderful for your chateau, and really give it the wow feeling as you enter. I also think it would work with your tiles. You could perhaps link the palest tile colour with something on the wall as a trim. Just a suggestion.

Yes,Carole worked a long time gold leafing the details. Also, they have lovely front doors ,like you with the grilles in the doors. They painted the grilles one dark color and the doors a beautiful blue. Very striking!

That’s where I am heading. From the cream to light brown. Will get few color samples once I am closer to actually doing it.

I would do a light gray instead of the teal. If it were mine I would do a faux marble effect on the walls. I used to paint faux finishes and marble always look classy and upscale. You are doing a great job considering the tools or lack of tools that you have to deal with. New subscriber. Looking forward to following your journey and hopefully one day following in your footsteps. One can always hope.

Please dont go chocolate brown as it will make the foyer to dark. I would suggest a pale sage green or a creamy beige. The gold accents will be beautiful. Why are you demolishing the turkey coops? Cant they be used for storage?

I will be getting few color samples from cream to very light brown to see what’s the best match. We are not in the demolishing stage yet, but find very little utility for those buildings with the vision that we have for the whole property. But who knows, an opportunity might come and we will change our minds.

I think your color scheme will look perfect with the floor. Are you going to use a stripper or take off the green paint through sanding? Depending on the condition of the wood and your budget you can have someone media blast it with silica which saves hours and hours of work.

No, I was not planning on stripping off the paint. I am just going to clean the walls before and remove/sand the flaky spots. Hoping to get a good quality paint that will give a good coverage.

@@countrylivinginfrenchchate2676 Ok but find out if the green is oil based paint. If so, don't put latex paint over top of it directly. Either use oil based paint for your new color, or use a primer underneath the new latex. A good paint store person should be able to help you with that.
