The weather this October has been just glorious. I feel so fortunate to be able to work outside every day. Still finishing cleaning up around the property and we can finally see the efforts are paying off. This place is transforming in front of our eyes and I see so much potential there. The main work outside is now done, I will be doing lots of indoor projects as the weather is cooling off.
This was a very big week for us in many ways and I like to see constant progress.

Thanks for sharing, I had the same problem with years of self seeding trees, was worried with a chain saw so I have a stihl pruner which is like a mini chainsaw but much much safer and gets through very thick branches, the grounds are looking good 🎉

For ivy removal, just cut the vines from the base to separate the vines from the roots. This will kill the vines and stop them from growing on the walls and other structures. You have to make sure you get all the strands. It will take a few months to die and then can be removed more easily. To kill the roots, try rolling them like a carpet and cutting the roots from the soil as you go. Then go back and rake up the smaller strands. You will have to check it every year until it completely disappears. I do ivy removal in a park so have worked with ivy in many situations. It's hard work but you are off to a good start.

Yes, that’s what I have been doing. Fortunately those that I cut in July, haven’t come back 🏆. Yet.

Beautiful anitque beige and charcoal colored tiles! Looks like you have some rust stains though, Try using some sort of rust remover on a small stain, see if that works? Given that the tiles are old, probably doesn't matter that a few are stained, still quite lovely! Good luck!

Thanks so much. I think if you are considering it, go for it to give it a try. You can always just not to continue it or even delete your account from YT. One of the best things about running the account on YT is truly the community of like minded people. I received a tons of good advice, and if allows me also to sort of document my journey.

I love the black & white tiles (even tho they are not real white) they look antique looking. Hope you don't change them! You will probably will have some area rugs over part of it.♥️♥️♥️♥️😘

The rugs would cover only the center of the floor, there are tons of leaks and spills on the sides that would be uncovered. I am planning to have the entire floor covered with planks- hoping it will look good and authentic based on the color I went for.

My first visit to your channel. I had a major ivy problem as well in a much much larger area. So I want to share what happened. First yr the area was cleared, 2nd year some came back...cleared again, 3rd yr. just a handfull but they were attached to roots the size of tree branches about foot under the ground. As for the ones growing up the wall, they also took a few yrs to stop because there so many more shoots than appear at first sight. I have read about the copper nails and the vinegar salt, but yet to try it. Here in the USA, New England, they charge $90 per tree trunk to grind one down. Good luck w all your projects!

We are from New England (Boston) as well! We had once a tree removed from the sidewalk and it was a big deal! Yes, I am removing all the ivy’s I can, and anytime new ones show up, I pulled them out as well. I became an ivy’s police!

Please mind your discs-in your back you are keeping fit but putting great stress on your back I was a nurse for thirty two years and now as a result of pulling and lifting all those years my discs are worn out and I can’t hardly walk at seventy four I wish I could run just like I used to but I am now using crutches I cannot walk without them sorry if I sound negative I just wish. Someone told me all those years ago

I am sorry to hear that! Nurse’s job is the most difficult job, so sorry to hear that after helping people for so many years, your own health suffered! I am being mindful of the weight I carry, I prefer to lift less but more frequently. Also, this was a very different week (or 2) and now that it’s been cleaned up, I am onto lighter projects. Thank you for the reminder though!

The only way i got rid of my ivy was i had to dig to pull out by root and the root was as thick as a tree limb but once i pulled the whole root out it has never came back

Put a black bucket over the trump/root area in the meantime. Lack of sun will also kill any sprouts coming up from the roots !😊

You could improve your video by showing your face when you speak about your projects. And like in this video you showed us the floor, but not the actual room. You keep mentioning apartments,so to us that means you don’t intend to live there yourself. I was concerned you left that Ivy on the railing . I think once it reaches the soil,it will creep into the ground causing you more work down the road. The Ivy is different than here in Canada. It doesn’t die in France because the weather there is not cold enough. Watching a lot of blogs in France, chateau owners are pulling it off their buildings. It may be pretty, but it can be a headache. You’re doing a great job and it is good exercise.😊

I don’t understand why you made such hard work of the garden task buy a electric saw and just burn the waste we do it all the time As for patreon I think it’s been so over done ! It was ok in COVID times people like Stephanie who is raking in a fortune for not a lot If you can’t afford the place you shouldn’t have bought it ! And tons of people think that way in a financial crisis the world in It’s you choice to do KZfaq and hope you get monetisation But saying that best of luck.

Easy to say while watching someone else do the work. Bon fires are not allowed in my area (so yes, maybe easier for others that can do it). I have no diy experience so it would be foolish of me to just buy an electric saw and turn it on. And since we bought the chateau, obviously we can afford it. If you don’t like Patreon, just don’t visit that site. But plenty of others do. Everything really comes down to individual choices. Thanks for watching anyway.

You can use chemicals to kill ivy but you have to spray it down with white vinegar first and then wait a few days. The vinegar removes the waxy coating on the leaves. Taking out stumps is absolutely the worst outdoor job! You have my sympathy.
