I wonder if now, when a doctor notices that the care provider fails to do as they suggest i.e. take a child immediately to the emergency room, that the police can then go to the home straight away and arrest the care provider, for neglect? Does anyone know if this is the case?

Dr Gilbert Duxbury.... I have NO connection to this case. I have high regards for my MD’s. I’m a grandmother from Kentucky. You sir are a superb physician and witness to this horrific case and I just want to say THANK YOU... you did all you could and more. Don’t let this get you down. Continue to teach and share with your colleagues on signs of abuse. This is the best way to honor this baby girl. Your a blessing. 😔

He should have noted in the letter “non-accidental trauma” and made a report to child services. It doesn’t matter that they were already involved, they need to be notified and an independent report needs to be made for each incident.

So who is qualified to suggest when a child should be double checked for child abuse just in case in this monster of a defense attorneys eyes? The next door neighbor didn’t do enough according to her and she was a RN and mandated reported and a damn pediatric orthopedic doctor was overt concerned and it was too much? So just who does she think hurt this child, mom was a meth head and lost visits according to her, great gram didn’t want Leila and couldn’t take her, so they didn’t kill her...so did the other foster parents??? Wtf? I seriously want to travel all the way from PA and rescue that insane lawyers cats bc what she obviously considers child abuse and neglect is skewed to say the least, I’d hate to see what she considers is satisfactory for animals...we all saw how she felt about the elderly..

mrsmoyster I know exactly where you are dear! I’m in Muncy. My daughter lives in Harrisburg, she goes to nursing school there. I’ve drove past or through your town my entire life, To either visit her or my grandmother when she lived in Manheim, near Lancaster. Penn dot could finish connecting 11/15 with 99 any freaking day now and make my life so much easier ! I hate driving through Hummels Wharf! But I don’t think I’ll see that project finished while I’m still driving the highway tbh! I remember when you still had to drive through Dauphin on 322 and how long that bypass took! I used to live in Norry, a lifetime ago as well. A good friend of mine owned a bar there a few years back, Fat Daddy’s, but I think mismanagement, poor economy and an addiction to alcohol, forced the doors permanently closed. :( very small world we live in...funny I speak to more people that are in my local vicinity on KZfaq than irl! Nice to meet you

The dr should have looked at "butch" defense attorney and asked, "Isn't it true you're a witch with a capital B"?? He stood his ground VERY well and she just looked cruel and out of place. This attorney hurt the Rosenbaum's more than she helped by her "bedside manner" (as she commented on) This line of questioning and rudeness does more harm because the jury members are human and no one likes to hear the way this defense attorney tries to demean and cut everyone down. Big mistake for the Rosenbaum's allowing her to take their case. I loved this dr though; he was very knowledgeable in his field and kept his "cool" with that witch of a defense attorney. Kudos and much luck in New Mexico - they are very fortunate to have you on board, sir!

You followed her care at other providers and tried to alert them to do a full trauma workup . You tried to bring attention to her helpless situation before it was to late. Thank you for being such a caring doctor with deep compassion and empathy for Lalia. I enjoyed your testimony and learned a great deal about broken bones in children. I am sure your students enjoy her lectures and style of teaching, Best of luck in your new position at New Mexico University.

I am late to this case so commenting after the trial, but agree with what you are saying here. It appears that a 2 year old child was left unsupervised at gymnastics classes according to her injuries but how is that possible?? Two year old aren't allowed to do that sort of exercise in a "class". I have listened to the testimony throughout and yet nobody seems to have witnessed Laila performing gymnastics. Surely staff at the gym would have been interviewed?? Have I missed something here??

Removing them from the parent's custody and left with a family who was much worse than their drug-addicted mother in addition ton of monitoring the children properly cutting corners leaving the poor girls to suffer until death. They didn't do a good job monitoring the children violating their ethical duties! I see and hear about similar cases with the foster care system children are still suffering!!

The Dr. did his part and the social worker dropped the ball. If she had actually contacted DFCS, they could have mandated that Jennifer bring Laila to the Pediatric ER as Dr. Duxbury instructed. If they took 15 minutes to follow up on the Dr's suspicion, Laila would have had a full work up at the Pediatric ER that very day. She and Millie would have been removed from Jennifer's home. DFCS would have found out everything. 15 minutes and a few phone calls. But they didn't and .....here we are :-(

I agree!! My daughter is a social worker and consistently goes above and beyond for her cases. She has been very vocal about the enormous breakdown of priorities within the system. Not only is she tasked with the ultimate advocacy of the children, but also has had to navigate the chain of command and hold her ground with her superiors on what is acceptable for the children she oversees. One big issue is disconnected mgt. asserting authority in the interest of them or the division vs the best interest of each individual child. As well as complacency, seeing numbers on a page instead of each individual child's welfare. There's no room in CPS for anyone willing to accept casualties. There should be a "No child lost" standard, and accountability for complete incompetence like what occurred with this baby girl! Unacceptable!!! Lose your career unacceptable!!! If they continue to believe excuses that staff shortages are adequate to excuse haphazard work, they should employ and train additional field personnel that don't need a degree in social work, who can cover more ground and keep eyes on these defenseless children!!!

Jennifer needed to paint a picture for her political goals. So having a family would have assisted in that picture .. I do not believe it had anything to do with a grudge against the bio mom. I do believe that Jennifer had not anticipated how much time and effort goes into two young children, one was more reliant on her for her basic needs, plus one needs to consider that these young babies came from Trauma, from their environment with their bio family. We don’t know if these babies were also born addicted as bio mom is an addict. Attachment issues, ( they were also moved 6 times!) so many issues before they ended up with Jennifer. So imagine how far more complex these young babies needs were. Jennifer was ill equipped and underestimated the time, and nurturing, etc these babies needed. I also think the Department Child Services also failed these babies! All the families, caseworkers, nurses, neighbours by the sounds of it 😔😔

I dislike this defense attorney. I have a doctorate in law but can’t understand her when talking to many people. And good advice - don’t get aggressive with people who lost loved ones, especially kids. Mom ins’t perfect-but she didn’t kill her kid. Great-grandmother? Bow down and be so kid.

We can all witness how many lives were harmed by this couple after they murdered a child in their care. A child she SOUGHT OUT in a twisted vendetta against Tessa that Joseph participated in. I’m glad they had such a nasty defense attorney - she gave them a defense that ensures they will not win any appeals - but I feel badly for every one of these witnesses. This is a terrible case.

My daughter was in gymnastics at age 3. At that age the beams are only about an inch MAYBE 2in. off the VERY padded floor and the coaches hold their hands and guide them all the way across! If fact, at that age no matter what they’re doing in the gym a coach is ALWAYS in “spotter” position ready to catch them in case they fall. Monster is too good a word for her! 😡
