Keeping your Milwaukee tools charged and ready to go is essential when you're living aboard a sailboat, but let's face it, charging all those batteries can get messy and disorganized. Fear not, I have some great tips to help you get your battery charging station organized and efficient.
We'll go through the process step-by-step and show you how to set up a charging station that is easy to use and won't take up too much space on your boat.
Next up, I'll tackle the task of putting up LED lights on my sailboat. LED lights are a great way to brighten up your living space without using too much power, which is crucial when you're living off the grid. You'll be amazed at how much of a difference LED lights can make in your living space!
So join me on this adventure as I organize my battery charging station and put up LED lights on my sailboat. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or just starting out, this video is sure to provide some useful tips and tricks to make your life aboard a sailboat a little bit easier and more enjoyable.

Nicely Done. I am sure that you will enjoy having plenty of light. I worked all day Saturday on my boats wiring. My boat is also a 1974 model and much of the wiring is original. The insulation just crumbles when touched. I hope yours is in better shape. Is your anchorage far enough from land to keep the bugs away? Great video!

Thank you Marty! The insulation is in decent shape all around. Mostly dirty and very very sticky, lol. The wood is doing most of the crumbling around here. As far as the bugs, I have NO idea how they are getting on board. I get a ton of spiders. My best guess is they catch a ride on the demon seagulls.

I personally have to have things organized, if not my brain becomes frozen and chaos rules. As for mounting straight and level on a boat, eyeballing it seems to work for me. I watched someone use a piece of pipe on the table, if rolled right or left, forward or back he would adjust to make it level.

Sounds like we have the same thinking when it comes to organization. The level thing really did throw me off. It’s not like it’s ever calm out here in the bay. I was actually thinking of using the level app on my phone, might be my best bet lol.

@@ambiguousglobetrotter Had no idea about a level app, cool.

@@bobbrown9158 I just remembered this morning that it exists. Might not be as perfect as a good level, but it’s better than nothing.

Vasil.....any possibility of Milwaukee battery discharge (or slow amp leakage) keeping them housed in the unplugged chargers...?
@ambiguousglobetrotter

Carl, that is a great question! I don’t know if the discharge at all while sitting on those chargers when they are not plugged in. Something for me to investigate.

What's it like living with almost no electricity down there ,up here in Maine it would be a death sentence. I want to put about 600 W on my boat and move down there, i have 400 AH of lead and im worried about needing to use my engine as a crappy generator because I won't be making much money

Honestly, it is quite challenging at times. I think I’m only around 250-300 AH of storage at the moment with 240-250w of solar. It’s part of the challenge though, figuring things out as I go along. We also get a ton of sun here, Maine would be quite challenging. You would probably need a non-electric heat source. Something like a heater buddy with a 5 gallon propane tank. It obviously doesn’t get that cold here in the winter, so I just roughed it with a decent pkanket. Once this boat has been pulled out of the water and some necessary projects done, I’ll be upgrading the power storage and generation in a very significant way. Stay tuned, I think you’ll really like what I have planned long term.

There is a ton of work to do on the ceiling. I need to keep it exposed for when I redo the windows. I’m also thinking of relocating the hatches to that portion of the boat where I mounted the lights. The window project is going to be quite intense, lots of fiberglass work to redo the window mounts. Still wrapping my head around how that project is going to go…
