Hi everyone, my name Vasil. I am living on my 1974 Columbia 45 sailboat while restoring it. Living on a sailboat is a very unique experience, one that comes with many challenges. One big challenge is the maintenance that comes along with living in a marine environment.
In this episode I am replacing the carburetor on my dinghy motor. This dinghy is new to me, I've only had it for several weeks at this point. It was purchased with a Nissan 6 horse power 4 stroke motor. The motor keeps stalling during regular operation. Upon observation of the carburetor, I have found that it is spitting out a mixture of gas and oil out of the carburetor intake. This lead me to suspect the float mechanism to be functioning improperly.
Please join me as I remove the old carburetor from the engine and replace it with a new one. Since the part I believed that needed to be replaced was going to cost $9, I opted to pay $30 to replace the entire carburetor.
