These are great videos in addition to your anchor test videos. The real world use and discussion of anchoring was very helpful and interesting.

Very very nice vid! To get things in its right context is very pedagogical. I’ve now sold and left my house up in the mountains. Checking out boats and boat ad’s while trying to finish all land business. I’d hope to meet you and your family sometime …well not super soon, but anyways - you are a young family ⛵️

Great video, Steve, much appreciated! We spend a fair amount of time at anchor in the Desolation Sound area and we’ve never had a problem with our 14-15000lb boat and a 33lb stainless Lewmar Bruce style anchor. I’ve often wanted to get a 44 lb version of that anchor. We switched from all 1/4” chain to 50’ of 5/16” chain and rope rode, based on advice from one of the shops that did work on our boat. They said that we didn’t need to carry all that weight right at the bow. We have a problem in that the hope road doesn’t fall out of the way in the chain locker, so it piles up and causes the rode to slip on the gypsy, which is made for chain and rope and correctly sized. My frustration level has made me want to order a compromise of 120’ of chain and attach it to about 130’ of our rope rode. Aside from reducing forward weight, I see nothing good about rope rode. I use a 25’ spring line as a snubber, with a prusik knot to hold the rope rode and the load is removed from the windlass/bow roller and placed on our 2 bow cleats. That also eliminates the creaking of the rope on the roller. The most popular style of anchor in our marina seems to be a Bruce style, despite your tests showing that it’s not the best anchor. Thanks for your videos!

Another great video, thanks! Can you please make a video on connecting the snubber to the anchor chain?

Great video, be good to see more like this… makes it more relatable knowing you’ve left 90% of all your available anchors at home. Doesn’t the fortress have both the optional mud palms and the option to change the fluke/shank angle?

Great video! We typically anchor at Watmough as our first or last anchorage and have seen boats lose their set on the north side in just 25 knot winds. We recently received the Sarca Excel #4 based on watching your videos and looking forward to getting it on the front of the boat. It nests a little awkwardly on our current roller so didn’t run it on our last trip. Thanks for all the work you do for the community!

Excellent video! Magic looking place to visit. Thanks for all your anchor vids. They have probably saved a lot of people serious money. - I've got some generic hinged plough anchor unfortunately. It's setting and holding well for now. But I'm putting money aside for something more safer!

Being in Alaska and having been working on boats anchoring on rocky bottoms (often in 100’+ deep), I’d love to see a video testing the forfjord and other anchors on rocky and variable bottoms like you had at Old Man Bay. (Might be a good reason for a trip up into northern BC or even up to Ak!)

I'd like nothing more than to make the trip up North. The underwater cameras will most definitely be brought along. Someday...

Hi Steve, love your videos! I really appreciate the way you tests and the results are always surprising. Have you ever tested the Viking 15? I’ve been looking around through all the videos, But haven’t been able to find a Viking 15. Thank you!

Real world. Shows why just one anchor the owner is overconfident in seems a questionable practice.
