Macbook Pro 15” 2010 (A1286) video series:
Remove bottom case (recurring for all videos)
1. Replace Battery P/N: A1321
2. Replace/Upgrade Random Access Memory (RAM) P/N: PC3-8500 1GB, 2GB, 4GB (8GB MAX)(Workaround: Any 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM as long as 1 old module is left in one of the banks)
3. Replace Hard Disk Drive P/N: Any compatible SATA 2.5” Drive
4. Replace DVD Super Drive P/N: 661-5147, 661-5467, 661-5842 or comparable
5. Replace Trackpad P/N: 922-9008, 922-9035, 922-9306
6. Replace Screen Assembly P/N: 661-5483
7. Replace WiFi/Bluetooth AirPort Card P/N: 661-5515
8. Replace Fans P/N: 661-4952, 922-8703, 661-4951, 922-8702
9. Replace Logic Board P/N: 661-5566, 661-6360
10. Replace CPU Heat Sink P/N: 922-9311
11. Replace Speakers P/N: 922-9308, 922-9030, 922-9309
12. Replace Microphone P/N: 922-9031, 922-9748
13. Replace Power Connector/DC-in-Board P/N: 661-5217, 661-5235, 922-9307
14. Replace Keyboard P/N: Any A1286 Keyboard 2010
15. Replace WiFi/Bluetooth Cable P/N: 922-9296
Reinstall bottom case (recurring for all videos)

Thank you so much for this. I wouldn't have known where to start with speaker replacement and this step-by-step guide was perfect. I know have a repaired Macbook Pro for the price of a replacement speaker, rather than having to buy a new laptop! Wonderful

Very very useful video, thank you. Only one clarification, at minute 10.45 you write Left Speaker Removal but it's right, infact, when put new one, you say Right speaker. Just that. Thank you so much.

One of my speakers just went out on my 2010 Macbook Pro with the lovely matt screen. I can afford the part for a new speaker but the labor to put it in is too much! You may have saved me alot of money. I'm a bit concerned about getting into my mac that much though.

Sometimes you got to do what you have to do and you will feel good about what you accomplish in the end. Just my 2 cents that I saved by repairing my own Apple products ;)

hello just wondering if speakers would be the same as the 2012 A1286 Model which I have? don't think I'll attempt doing this myself but is good to know & pass on to a local guy that knows how to work on macs. Very cool to listen to your careful instructions. Thankyou :)

Great video. I did a data doubler project years ago on my 2010 A1286. Just recently I replaced both drives with newer SSDs, not touching the speakers except to tighten the screws (the one under the SATA cable for the bottom drive was completely loose) When I put everything back together I noticed distortion. Any idea on whether the torque of the screws could have done this? I'm kind of baffled as the speakers face down during the replacement.

It's the tightness of the screws on the doubler. Try to un-tighten them a little or get a new speaker of ebay for a 2010 A1286 it's here ebay.to/2J5Ezbo

Does the potential overtightening of the data doubler put to much pressure on the speaker and ruin the cone or something? I ordered some replacement speakers from powerbookmedic.com and don't want to screw up again. Thanks for the response, btw.

I fix my mid 2014 macbook pro yesterday. I purchase the speaker for 6-7 dollars from ebay (used) I read the instruction from ifixit.com... Fix thr problem and i save $$$.. I replace my screen too.. When you can fix one thing you should be able to fix the other. My mac run like money. I will not replace my mac until the wheels fall off. I am not one of those people who how to have the next tech...This mac does job for me literally (work).. lol great video

Dear Save apple Dollars...I did that procedure, but I did not dismounted the battery, and now after speaker removal y does nor start...do you have some tips? Thanks Ed
