With the latest announcement about SCREAM 7, I figured it was a good time to look into all of the upcoming horror movies for the rest of 2024, into 2025, and beyond.
Hear my latest thoughts about the news of Neve Campbell and Kevin Williamson being involved in Scream VII. And also check out my ranking (based on excitement) for all the requels, sequels, prequels, remakes, reboots, re-imaginings, TV series, spin-offs, and original horror movies to come out in the not so distant future.

Right I love her she’s my favorite actress and Sidney Prescott is my favorite fictional female character of all time. She had every right to accept the offer if she felt it was what she deserved for the franchise she helped build into what it is today. Screw these sensitive, snowflake, entitled new generation fans.

So glad to see Neve return to Scream. 5 & 6 were huge disappointments. Story, acting and, especially, the Carpenter sisters were subpar in both. Randy's niece and nephew have potential, so I hope they get better development and stay with the franchise.

I’m absolutely petrified for Maxxxine. I’m trying not to have too have of expectations, but X and Pearl were so good I just don’t know if they can pull it off again. I would love to have a solid trilogy and a proper satisfying conclusion, but I’m just worried they won’t be able to pull it off!! My anxiety is just really high for Maxxxine. 😂

I believe that Scream VII needs to be the end of it all. It started with Neve Campbell Sidney and in my opinion it should end with Sidney because that’s what Wes would want. And Matt might come back as Stu so… that’s just a bonus. And seeing a final showdown between Sidney and Stu would be amazing

I've only seen a few of your videos and they were all Scream related as it is my second favourite horror movie franchise but I think if I watched any of your videos, I'd learn something new. Great video! It’s exciting to see how many flicks are on the docket! I’m particularly excited for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Nosferatu, Abigail, Scream 7, and 28 Years Later (to catch up on Cillian’s character and hopefully his friends too 🤞). And not a horror, but in the ghostly comedy 🎭 category, I can’t wait to see Ghostbusters tomorrow! 🥰

Me too! Also, Kevin Williamson as director should get things back on track. The last two movies were disappointing. All I enjoyed were Chad and Mindy, so I hope they are back. I was also happy to see Kirby come back. With the disappointing death of Dewey,I hope she steps into the protector role he had. The Carpenter sisters had way too much personal drama to be believable as characters, so I won't miss them. With them gone, the ghost of Billy, which was also a silly part of 5 & 6, will have no reason to come back either. Honestly, I just hope it's good enough to take the bad taste out of my mouth from the last two.

Your pitch for what the The Faculty movie could be like was so good, I really want it to be made! Maybe it's just because I'm on my way to getting a teaching degree, and want to see teachers as the lead characters in a movie but I do think that dynamic would be very interesting. And in general there should be more movies telling stories from different perspectives. Usually we don't get much into the careers of the characters in horror movies but this would be a fun and interesting way to incorporate the workplace into a movie. And teachers are also a strong community because everyone is working together to help these children but it's hard when they aren't really there most of the time. So the movie you describe could really dig into that and it would be an interesting dilemma when the teachers don't know if something is really going on with the students because they are very far removed from them anyway, and they are also there to help the students. Such a movie with a good script could be something really special

@@Michael-cz6obyes and be he has a right to have it there. The vast majority of people I’ve seen have had full support for scream 7 being made. Not the controversy obviously as that was not a good scenario. But scream 7 being made is not a bad thing. I do wish a new studio picked up scream though.

MaXXXine is definitely my most anticipated release in 2024👌🏻 I think BH should go the T2 route for M3GAN 2. That would make a great sequel, especially if you're bringing back the 2 leads. Crank that sequel to 11 and have fun with it🤞🏻

the conjuring 2 scared (and continues to scare) the sh*t out of me. i only watched the first one once, and “the devil made me do it” was a disappointment to me bc i was expecting to be as scared as i was with the second movie. but if i want to watch a movie that i know will scare me enough that i won’t be turning the lights off that evening, it’s the conjuring 2 curious to know more of your thoughts on saw x, though. i thought it was one of, if not THE, best written movies in the franchise. i really thought the development for a lot of the characters was also there, even though we knew they’d probably die

I think Saw VI was the best in terms of storytelling. Even though Saw X was an improvement and return to form from the last three entries, I find the story to be a bit underwhelming.

I’m just wondering how you’re supposed to bring Sydney back into the story, without mentioning the Carpenter sisters. My only theory is that they possibly have this story coinciding with the story of 6. Basically, bring back Sydney and Kincaid and have a Ghostface after them at the same time of the NY attack. If they don’t, this whole thing is going to be so much more messy than it needs to be with trying to write out The Core 4.

I was wondering where you’ve been, I clicked on this so fast! MaXXXine is def my most anticipated as well. I am upset at the amount of remakes/sequels we’re getting to great stand alone films and also those shitty D list movies like the Winnie and Terrifier movies. 2022/2023 were pretty good years for horror movies, but I don’t know about 2024. You forgot to mention the new Frankenstein movie coming out with Mia Goth as the Bride, I’m cautiously excited for that one. And yeah, Scream 7 is a shit show. The only direction they have to do for the new Scream is bring STU back for that major twist. Shit they could even make Dewy and Sidneys husband the other killers as well. After that they need to completely end the franchise.

I did see the first Winnie The Pooh: Blood & Honey, and I’ll admit that it was awful. It was so bad that it became kinda kitschy fun for me. When the sequel was released earlier this week, I had to see it (I was alone in the theater), and it was better than the first. Plot, action, & makeup was better. Honestly, I’ll see the Bambi, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, etc releases b/c I like the idea of darkness potential of the stories.

@ZackCherry I get that, most average movie goers feel that way certainly but I think in the horror community specifically, that's a hotish take. The movie is definitely not everyone's cup of tea but that could be said about alot of horror movies

No disrespect by any means, but this is the first time I’ve ever heard (well seeing it typed obviously) anyone say The Strangers being overrated is a hot take. I know horror movies usually don’t have great reception, but the critics and audience score in rotten tomatoes was pretty much even at a 48%/49%. This is only my opinion, so please take anything with a grain of salt because I know I’m a nobody, but to me, it was just an average home invasion movie with decent cinematography and good looking people (actors). I grew up with a ridiculous mom who watched soap operas and Lifetime movies 24/7. As a long-time horror movie fanatic, there are so many movies that feel like versions of a Lifetime movie with a higher budget to work with, somewhat better actors (also depending on the franchise and the movie…like I think some people may agree with me the acting in the majority of the Friday the 13th movies is…atrocious. It’s off-topic, but point being that example I just provided for one of the most beloved franchises…that doesn’t qualify as a hot take. A hot take is a bizarre opinion that almost everyone would try to tell you why you’re wrong. I guess the easiest example is one I heard from another one of my favorite KZfaqrs reading comments and one hot take was Rob Zombie’s Halloween II is a masterpiece and better than John Carpenter’s (1978) Halloween. That’s just so…wrong 😂 (and RZ didn’t even want to do H2 btw which I’m sure no one is reading this nor cares about, but the terrible Weinstein brothers were a nightmare and the rest is just traumatic history those that had to work with them endured). End rant and so sorry-hope none of that sounded rude at all.

They're giving IKWYDLS the Sam Carpenter treatment that felt extremely forced in Scream VI but could actually work here, which is people finding out what actually happened; that a group of teens ran over the guy and dumped his body in the water while he was still alive and kept it a secret. This will change how people see Julie on social media and will beg the question "who is the real villain in all of this?" All of this alongside a killer coming after them. That sounds a lot more interesting to me and way more believable than what they tried to do with Sam in Scream VI. If they water down the story to just another killer wanting to kill them for no reason it's lazy writing. Besides, let's not waste Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie P J on some lame plot. Simplicity isn't the answer to everything, that's too 80s and 90s. It's 2024, we're allowed to give slashers some complexity.

Were you referring to his whole name the same as your pen name, "Zack Cherry"? I feel like that could get confusing with people thinking it's made by him. Although he doesn't have a huge huge following, he does have over 100,000. Using just Cherry with a different first name would be a better route. But I assume the name isn't trademarked, so technically, it would be legal. If I were you, I still wouldn't use the exact name Zack Cherry as a pen name. There are a bunch of different names you could come up with referring to Cherry, like I mentioned. It is ultimately your decision, though. Good luck!

@@silentsaturn7604 I mean since they are going for fan service. David can't come back as Dewey, so having him direct could've worked. He directed the slasher film The Tripper.

From the horror genres, only liked Chucky & Scream. The new Chuckys suck completely though. So do the new screams, but at least with that I still like the suspense of who the killers are.

May be sacreligious but I don't think I care about a new Scream. 6 was fine one time but it's left no lasting impact for me and I think the magic's just gone.
