Chuck watching Dee Dee's video on 6 jaw chucks he demonstrated how a 6 Jaw chuck will heat up and actually grow in I/D causing the chuck to lose it's grip on the part being machined. He also did it on his 10EE, Food for thought. Thanks for bringing us along.

Saludos Chuck! I like what you are doing with the three jaw. If it works out maybe getting a 3 inch 4 jaw might be in the future. I'm thinking with a four jaw runout might be less of a problem. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished fixture in action. KOKO!

You just hope in those oh- F#@! moments your foot remembers to stomp on the e-brake as your hands and brain are panicking fumbling around. (and that you stop it before something important ($$$) gets wrecked).

Question. Your skill level and knowledge is far greater than mine, but if I were doing this in my shop, I would have turned a 1inch bar down and threaded it 3/4 " to match the thread for an arbor. Is my way more labor intensive than what you did, or would my way be more prone to introducing concentricity issues? I'm only asking in an attempt to increase my knowledge.

Hi Chuck A silly question, Did you choose specifically to make the back section 6 sided (with 6 narrow sections in between)? My thinking was if you had made it twelve sided (equal sections), you could if you wanted have put it into either a 3, 4 or 6 jawed chuck at any time in the future.🤔
