i mean you could say the exact same thing about alcohol companies who market it to people who go onto drunk drive or develop disease from it. moderation is key as gambling can be fun if its for bragging rights or little to no actual money is involved and its not like big tobacco companies care either about peoples health when they use profit over morals to lure people in just like with gambling companies

You're probably good to never work a day again in either spot for life with $1 million. But, if I'm losing my legs, I'm gonna need to be more than set. I'm gonna need to have the BEST robo wheelchair, the best prosthetic legs, a great house. Like there would have to be nothing I'd ever not be able to buy again. $1 million feels like that level in Thailand, but definitely not in Taiwan.

I *highly* recommend the written translation of Ohtani's conference that a user posted to Reddit. It provides a more nuanced level of accuracy which helps clarify some things, and imho it also indirectly sheds some light onto the incompetency of the Dodgers communications team

Thanks for recommending, I just read it. Really clears it up. If true, Ohtani was betrayed by most likely his closest friend, which sucks, but not that uncommon unfortunately. Before I read it, I was kind of leaning towards maybe Ohtani was placing some bets, but now it seems he was betrayed and ripped off. Hard lesson to learn

Do you understand what credit or debt even is? The fact that he OWES money means he was given credit for that sum or a little less + interest. If he didn't have a line of credit and had to pay upfront then he wouldn't go into debt even if he lost. Genius.

The thing with Idaho's band playing for Yale is actually more common than you'd think, I'd say it probably happens a few times per year. I was at the 2016 tournament with Xavier's band and we played Weber State who didn't have a band, so a band from the game before (I wanna say it was maybe Wisconsin) stayed and played as their band for the game, got shirts and everything

So, I went and looked up the story of Zhang and Liao. Liao seems like a real POS. He tricked Zhang into signing a note that obligated him to pay Liao $800,000 to cover his crypto losses. And then he's the guy that convinces him to get his legs cut off by telling him that gangsters are coming after him. And then they both ended up getting arrested. Kinda feels like they should just let Zhang go.
