Whereas last episode on Mobility ( • Shoulder Mobility for ... ) was all about improving the range of movement for your shoulders, this episode is all about exercises to help strengthen your shoulders when climbing. Plus we have another partner challenge for you to try (you can even do it via videoconferencing for extra lockdown fun!)
Let me know how you get on in the comments below!

Hey Shauna, so cool! Could you do a full body stretch video for climbers? I really struggle with the stretching sometimes...:-)

Fantastic! I've pulled my left shoulder quite often since it dislocated years ago during a wrestling exercise. This routine helps a lot. Nr. 6 and 7 are really scary for me, going right through those positions where it might pop (there's a lot of instability there) but little by little things are looking up. Thx :)

"Over the head" is very close to a Indian club movement called "Inner heart shaped swing." Club swinging is really good for shoulders, I use it for warming ups all the time.

Brilliant. Going to try the partner challenge with my kids. Would be great if you could add in a warm up and stretch at the end

Awesome workout! My previous shoulder routine was just a ton of sets of lateral and front raises, so it was fairly boring. I like this one because it adds some variety which keeps it fun. Do you recommend any rests between each set?

Nice work! A few notes: On exercise 1, no need to put the arms exactly at the sides of the body. This position may injure the shoulders, for some people. On 3 (the Arnold press), this rotation is useless. It's better to do just a regular shoulder press.

Hi! For exercise 1, how do you suggest altering it? (Beginner at using dumbbells here)

nice workout with some excellent exercises. one question: 10 exercises each 10 times is in the endurance range. what is the advantage of such a setting compared to more hypertrophy based workout? or in other when should we focus on stability with more reps / less breaks / lower intensity rather than acquiring more power (less volume / high intensity / longer breaks)?

i hear a lot about how people avoid heavy weights for shoulder exercises like this because you don't want to stress the rotator cuff that much otherwise you can easily get injured
@fufumccuddlypoops5502
@fufumccuddlypoops5502 3 жыл бұрын
Especially with movements like the ones starting at 11:00 the muscles responsible for that movement and the rotator cuff are small and can be strained relatively easy. They’re not big strong muscles (comparatively) like the delts and when they get injured it can really impair shoulder function. To get around that you train with volume as opposed to heavy resistance

Gracie's right - doing exercise is a great way to warm up in bed. I've done crunches to get warm on cold bivvies (or just in my flat in winter...). Andy Kirkpatrick has a good article on how to stay warm in a sleeping bag, including this tip: www.andy-kirkpatrick.com/articles/view/maximising_your_bags_warmth
