Join LAFB Elite to discover how I find and catch speckled trout and redfish from scratch: www.lafbelite....
I've been on some pretty epic redfish trips recently, and this video perfectly captures that experience as well as sharing a few fishing tips.
Are you a subscriber to my email newsletter? Then you already know of the epic fishing trips along the Mississippi River that I've been on.
Not a subscriber? You can sign up here: www.lafishblog...
Marsh in the immediate area of Pointe a la Hache has cleaned up considerably ever since the river begun dropping earlier this year.
While river water can make fishing tough in that area, and has certainly changed the landscape with the addition of Mardi Gras Pass in 2011, the redfish action becomes unparalleled once the river recedes, inviting in clean and, eventually, saltier water.
But here's the secret: redfish do great in freshwater and (if you really know a thing or two about redfish biology) then you know they do great in freshwater, which is why we catch them next to blue cats and largemouth bass.
All you have to do is find a good shoreline with healthy aquatic grass, some clean water and plenty of bait.
That's exactly what I did in this fishing trip, and I take you to one of my favorite fishing spots that I had recently discovered.
I found this special shoreline using the fishing tips in this guide to sight fishing redfish in Louisiana:
www.lafishblog...
However, my very best way of teaching anyone how to catch redfish like what you see in this video is Sight Fishing Mastery School, a specialized course I created specifically for sight fishing redfish right here in Louisiana.
You can learn more about the benefits of that course here: www.lafishblog...
Sight fishing redfish is a lot of fun, and you don't need much to get started.
Sure, a fancy stand and shallow drafting boat is nice, but you'll see that was totally unnecessary and is usually the case on most trips like these.
Remember that the fish can see you, too. So being lower is an advantage and, the lower you are, the closer redfish will get to the boat before spooking.
If you're doing it right, you will be able to catch them right off the trolling motor!
I hope you enjoy this video and find the redfish sight fishing tips in it useful, and something you use to have fun sight fishing redfish as well.

IIRC, the only lure I really fished with in here is the Matrix Craw, a variant of the Netbait Baby Paca Craw, and it was rigged onto a 3/0 Owner Flashy Swimmer.

I was curious as to why it is a bad sign to see the mullet running from the bank? 14:20 On a different note, have you had a chance to try the Diawa coastal tatula? I have heard good things about it. Tight lines! Keep up the good work.
@LAFishBlog

It's not a bad a sign to see mullet running from the bank. It's a bad sign when that's ALL YOU SEE. Like the pond is infested with them. I chalk it up to low oxygen levels, but I don't know that for a fact, never measured them. Even if there were redfish, they'd be instantly spooked by the 1,439,835 mullet inhabiting every square inch of the pond. The video really doesn't do the phenomenon justice, as they were literally everywhere. It's basically like a gar hole but instead of gar it's mullet. Does that make sense?
@LAFishBlog
@LAFishBlog 4 жыл бұрын
As for the Coastal Tatula, it's a cool reel. But why not a Tatula 150? It's $100 less and are we really fishing in that salty of water?
@joebleaux7039
@joebleaux7039 4 жыл бұрын
@@LAFishBlog Yes, thank you for the clarification. I understand and know what situation you are referring to as well. When i am hunting Redfish and i see bait crazy dense like that it usually means nothing is there to threaten them as well I feel.
@joebleaux7039
@joebleaux7039 4 жыл бұрын
@@LAFishBlog I guess your right about how salty our water is here making the bearing difference negligible. Does having aluminum side plates matter that much to the reels then? That would be the only difference i could factor in. The Tatula SV TWS is a great reel in my experience and i figured the coastal version might be a significant upgrade but i didn't really think about the Tatula 150 as an option at all because we are alittle salty waterwise. I guess i need to rethink things before i get a new reel now. I get about 4-5 years out of most reels i use (I fish once a week on average). thoughts? I really appreciate your time and input since i know you get alot more water time then i do. Keep up the great work!

The lower unit is rusty in some spots and that bearing on the main shaft will definitely rust out if it's not religiously cleaned out. Like anything, take good care of it and it will be fine.

It's a Tracker, but I wouldn't say it's the best for getting around in the shallow stuff. What's "shallow" anyway? You really don't need to be in less than 2ft to get on good redfish action. I wasn't!

@LAFishBlog 4 жыл бұрын
Ha ha ha ha ha I hear that. I'm not sure where you're fishing but in Louisiana you can find ponds 2-4ft deep that are clear all the way to the bottom, or clear enough. Don't really need to get too shallow. The Tracker gets it done, but like any bass boat she stern squats, is ass heavy, etc. A flat boat would probably be a better choice, or something that sits more even in the water, like a Blazer 2420 GTS or Majek Illusion.
