I think your shop is the first one I've seen that actually has proper air. The irony is real tool reviews manipulated their air gun tests with Snap-on to "show" it was the same as harbor freight. Great video. I'm sure the heated threads made it easier for the impact to break it loose, but you're also using an adapter which should more or less equalize that out. Overall, great video.

I've been using the Snap-On MG 3/8" impact for over 15yrs. First one was a MG31! Loved it only thing is you have to start replacing broken sockets then your gun. That little gun is a beast and it sounds awesome! A little too powerful it'll destroy the anvil not to mention the finger hazard. Don't use rubber gloves when using a wobble socket. You get your finger near the anvil and if you slip off the bolt head there will be some serious pain and possible broken digits if your glove catches. It's no joke it'll hurt you if you get careless. Definitely read the manual! I think the MG31 had a harder hit then the newer MG325. I got my first one as a newly traded in buy and bought a new MG325 as a spare a week later it's that good. It's still my fav 3/8 air impact. They stopped rebuilding the MG31's and my black MG325 has been at their repair shop for almost two months. Down to my last one. Thinking about a green MG as a gift for myself this xmas. They made a MG51 which is the same gun with a 1/2" anvil I think the newer model is a MG3255 for those who are looking at that option. Same gun just with the bigger anvil.

I was gonna get one of them but i looked at the size and it is bigger than my Milwaukee m18 3/8 nut runner so i am gonna get the Mac tool mini 3/8 one since it is only 4.4" long aswell as that they say it has more power than the snap on mg325 from what i have seen on the power rating. It is smaller than my battery one so i am gonna get it for when i am doing testing on tanks full of water so my battery one does not get wet when it comes to stripping it and preping it.

I always thought this impact was bad ass. When I first bought one it used to piss me off a little because I got used to using an old IR 3/8 gun at work. Well I had to take a rear bumper off one of the buses at work to do a serpentine belt. I think I broke 3 bolts because I stayed on the trigger a little too long.

I don't know... My supervisor who has both the MG325 and a stubby Air Cat claims that the MG325 is less powerful. What I do not understand is if it's actually that powerful, why would Snap on underrate it by such a large margin? Even that stubby Air Cat I mentioned is rated for 400 ft lbs. Is it to prevent people from going crazy with it and breaking it? To make sure that it doesn't undercut the MG725?

When I got my mg325 I kept telling my snap on dealer how incredible my gun was, I think it had the same specs as the mg 31 or im31 whatever the twin anvil gun was. I told him there's no way, this gun is incredible..Caliper bracket bolts with a 3/8 swivel socket, no problem...after owning it awhile it still surprises me....Lug nuts no problem.....if all snap on impacts were this good, everybody will have one...

that was a great test of that, I love that. Great little impact. My question is though... can you do that test alternating different studs? In my opinion I think the heat of putting it on and off of the same wheel stud and lug nut might possibly made it easier? Anyone else have a thought on that? Either way its a good little gun, I have the 1/2" version that I use when needed.

That's crazy! Our air kicks on at 120 and shuts off at 170 with no regulator. Haven't destroyed anything yet.

Pop one of the other bolts loose and torque to 410 bet it won’t move a cold nut

I will bet it will. I know it will do 415 on a cold lugnut without a doubt

I own the IR it’s about a year and a half old. It won’t do what this one will for sure. I’m probably gonna be getting the MG325

No I haven’t. I had two batteries brand new and gave them to Hamilton. Got them in a box of stuff I purchased from a supplier of overstock items he had for sale.

Are you sure your not stretching the bolt? Find a new nut and bolt and go straight to 500. And see how it does. I know this is a bad gun but I don't think it's 600lbs powerful. Also what psi was your air and was that a 1/2 or 3/8 hose?
@KoonTrucking
@KoonTrucking 5 жыл бұрын
3/8” hose 90 psi Not stretching the bolt it’s a lug bolt for a semi 600 ft lbs not a problem. That’s why they make 1” impacts with the breakaway torque they do designed to remove these lugs.

@@KoonTrucking I have had to replace nuts on the front of bulldozers that are torqued to 450. And have to use a 1" hose to a 140 psi at minimum scroll type compressor attached to a 1" impact. And sometimes still have to heat the nuts. Granted a lug nut with washer and comparing it to a high strength nut with a locking washer is different. I think the results could be different just because of that washer. But man either way its impressive and I'm thankful for your team to take time to demonstrate these tests. I like your videos and appreciate your dedication. 😎

V S well you have to take dirt into consideration also plus lugnuts get removed much more frequently I’m sure (I know they do at our shop because our guys won’t take the time to check tires, they know they are bad when they flip off the side of the rim after blowing).

you tighten it to 600 ft lbs yes 100 agree, but it dont take 600ft lbs to undo it. around 400 ft pounds will undo it easy. maybe even less...... what you need to do is get a left handed thread and tighten that up as much as you can with the impact gun and then see what torque the wrench moves the nut at without the stupid jerking the torque wrench............... forward pressure on that gun wont go anywhere near 400.......... and jerking the torque wrench is not the correct way to use a torque wrench, its lying doing it like that. you do it smooth or can be miles off with correct torque...... but undoing a nut is never going to take the amount of ft lbs is does to tighten it.... like comparing wind v water
