Thanks for this. I had gotten overweight after having a few rough years of life and am now working hard to get my body under control again. I’ve been working hard enough that I’m confident in taking my local fire departments physical this summer to join the station and am launching from that towards attending an SFRE event in the future. Thanks again, very encouraging. Better Everyday!

This is going to sound rather dumb but I was at a BBQ the other day with 15 other people (all Gen Z like myself btw) and only myself and a friend were willing to get shit done and thanks to our initiative everyone enjoyed a good bbq. After that, people kind of were looking up to us. Again, dumb analogy but just having initiative and getting shit done will be something appreciated in all types of endeavors.

huge fan of your videos,another question would be PPL or go hybrid? also calisthenics and martial arts?
@ValhallaVFT
@ValhallaVFT Ай бұрын
Calisthenics honestly are probably the best for passing things like generic PT tests, (push ups, sit ups, pull ups, run) but the Q course also has backbreaking ruck events, so you need to be very strong in the lower body as well. Martial arts is decent for conditioning but probably the least useful overall.

I love how you give advice on Physical fitness, I’m curious in what ways would it matter for physical fitness? Is it more being in endurance? Strength? What exactly is it that matters in SF? Thank you? I ask as a former 11B as I know for the line it’s all about running and Calisthenics but don’t know what SF is like as I hear it’s a mixed bag.
@iker8010
@iker8010 Күн бұрын
Take what I say with a pinch of salt but I follow several channels of ex SF dudes and opinion varies. Everyone puts emphasis on endurance (running, rucking etc) because it's essential. However, some guys mention getting stronger through compound barbell movements (squat, deadlifts, bench etc) others tell you to get super good at the APFT and so on.

Just wondering, not sure if this is something that would be classified or not lol. if a warrant officer on an ODA was trying out for delta force and they ended up passing selection, would they serve as an officer or serve as an enlisted? they are non-commissioned but also structurally rank higher than NCOS, so I'm kind of confused on how that works. Thanks though.
@ValhallaVFT
@ValhallaVFT Ай бұрын
I’ve never heard of a warrant going to selection. Most SF warrants are pretty far into their military careers, if you’re going to try out for delta you usually do it early in your career before you body is destroyed.
@lukehillland
@lukehillland Ай бұрын
@@ValhallaVFT right that's what I assumed. Super odd and specific question but do officers (18a's) ever or could an officer drop their commission, become a warrant officer, then apply for delta force to serve an enlisted role to 'serve more team time'? or is that unheard of?

@ICALLBS-tb2kx
@ICALLBS-tb2kx Ай бұрын
3rd ranger battalion is a part of the 75th ranger regiment. There are three. 1st, 2nd and 3rd battalion. A scroll would mean you're in one of the ranger battalions.. Last I remember it was 2nd over in Washington and 1st and 3rd in Georgia.

Man, I'd love to see you hop on a video/interview/podcast thingy with Jake Zweig He's been great at conveying the gut check of "you aren't good enough yet" to me, constantly On another note, I'm sure I asked this before but I can't remember right now but: Selection and training are always talked about for prepping for, but I'm Honestly more worried about performing from day to day and staying in the military for so long, I've never committed to anything longer than a couple years except for school and I can't imagine what I'd need to commit for so many years

I am skinny and weigh 149 lbs. What workout do you recommend I do to physically prepare?
@Daily_Bassist
@Daily_Bassist Ай бұрын
Depends on your height, if you’re 5’5 that’s probably not too undersized. If you’re 6’2, you’ll probably want to bulk up. What are your strengths and weaknesses physically?
@ValhallaVFT
@ValhallaVFT Ай бұрын
Being thin isn’t a disadvantage, provided your legs are strong enough to handle the weight of a ruck. Makes running way easier. You do still need to be strong enough to pass physical events though.

@@ValhallaVFT Which workout do you recommend I do to pass the physical?
@Daily_Bassist
@Daily_Bassist Ай бұрын
@@UltimateLimitless678 VFT has a good couple of videos for preparation. Also check out TFVooDoo on the internet, he’s got some good recommendations for a holistic training approach. The short answer is that you’ll need a good lifting foundation to carry the weight of a ruck. It’s a lot more about muscle endurance than all-out strength, so your 1 rep max on squat won’t help you a ton but being able to squat decent weight forever and ever and ever will help significantly. Likewise, being able to bench 300+ once won’t automatically make you do 100 pushups in 2 minutes. That said, you still need a solid strength foundation for rucking, so be lifting regularly on movements like bench, squat, overhead press and the like. Deadlift is part of the ACFT, so you’ll want to be able to score really well on that. Again, I’m also still in the train-up phase so I’m no expert, I’m just regurgitating what smarter people than me have said and I’m seeing significant improvement from doing this things. Like you, I’m an excellent runner (by army standards) but strength needs to improve. You need to get good at the events in the ACFT plus rucking and pullups. Just find a good plan, stay consistent, and you’ll see results.

@@ryanwilliams1410 no, HIIT training and lifting weights are much better for actual fat loss. Cardio is really more for having a healthy cardiovascular system than it is for losing fat.
