There have been many great actors in "Star Trek," and they've led some interesting careers since leaving the franchise. For this list, we’ll be looking at actors across the “Star Trek” universe and discussing what they’ve been doing outside of Trek. We’ll only be including actors who are still alive. Our countdown includes Wil Wheaton, Jeri Ryan, Colm Meaney, Whoopi Goldberg, and more! Who’s your favorite “Star Trek” character? Let us know in the comments.

You need to have a followup or two to cover other major ST actors still alive, for example, how about the first female captain in ST series, played by Kate Mulgrew? Or Terry Farrell and Nana Visitor? If you mentioned actors with less ST screen time like Wil Wheaton or Jennifer Lien, it would only be fair to make it a point to give equal time to many of the other major actors in ST.

Exactly this. I was baffled that they missed so many notable cast members that went on to do a lot of work. I couldn’t believe they missed Kate and Robert Duncan McNeil (who has been a director of so many recent shows)

Whoopie Goldberg was also an Oscar nominee (Best Actress, The Color Purple), and also an Oscar winner (Best Supporting Actress, Ghost). Brent Spiner was on Night Court in the occasional role as the head of that hillbilly family. He was also Dr. Oken in Independence Day.

How could you mention every other captain, except Janeway, Kate Mulgrew? She has been on tv since 1981 and has done theatre before and after Star Trek. She also had a recurring role in "Orange is the New Black" and wrote 2 books. Like Patrick Stewart, she has also recently reprised her role on Prodigy. It's a shame she was overlooked.

Patrick Stewart also plays Professor X from the X-Men franchise as the leader Whoopi Goldberg is The View's host and William Shatner best known as Captain Kirk is still an success after his iconic role he stars in feature films and hit TV series TJ Hooker,The Practice, Boston Legal and Better Than Never and he's the first actor goes to space and he's also an singer and voice too.

Something a lot of people don't know about Robert Picardo... he played the swamp witch in the Tom Cruise & Tim Curry 1986 fantasy classic, Legend.

@NavelAviator That swamp witch that Robert Picardo Plays in Legend, that Tom Cruise Kills, Her name is the Hag Meg, He's also in Voyagers where he was Starkiller in the film within the Film, Wak, and Wak and Neeks Father, And he was The Cowboy in Innerspace It's Classified. Yes Robert Picardo has a Great Filmography from the 80s to Now.

@@andreaprice1150 Yep he was that, I did say he has a long filmography since the 80s I remember the first scene I saw him in on The Wonder Years, Coach Cutlip was Teaching a Sex-Ed Class to the boys, LOL Cutlip, What a name for a Coach. A play on the words cut lip, like a Sports injury. I wonder if that was Robert's Idea.

Out of The Original Series cast, I know that only three are still alive (from the main characters); William Shatner (Kirk), Walter Koenig (Chekov), and George Takei (Sulu). Bones, Uhura, Scotty, and Mr. Spock have all passed away!

No shade towards his directing work, but Jonathan Frakes should definitely appear in more live-action films and TV series (NON-"Star Trek"-related, of course), both with AND without his beard (he has made several post-"TNG" TV appearances without it). Between the end of the first season of TNG and "Insurrection", Frakes' face had fleshed out enough to allow for him to switch between going with and without his beard. All the same, with or without it, he still looks gorgeous.

It's a shame that William Shatner apparently wasn't well liked by many of his fellow cast members, who accused him of stealing lines and screentime from them. Shatner was also apparently unaware of their disdain.

@@nodnarbleahcim5097 No, he knew that he had to be iconic in order for the show to be iconic. It worked, and the others were just piss heads who didn't get it. The three front credit names behind Shatner's understood. Well, Spock and Bones understood, completely. Scott was somewhere in the middle. The rest were pissy. None of them got screwed over as bad as Janice. How boring would Lost In Space have been, if Smith hadn't exaggerated his character? It's the same thing with Star Trek and Kirk.

Can Anybody clear this for me. I saw Star Trek Discovery, series, but is it portrayed to be one big holodeck project on the enterprise as a pet project of Commander Riker????

No, that was "Enterprise" not Discovery. The whole finale of "Star Trek: Enterprise" (NX-01 under Captain Archer, not NCC-1701-D under Picard) leading to the signing of the Federation Charter was portrayed as a holo simulation (with guest appearances by Riker and Troi).
