Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (also known as Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker) is a 2019 American epic space-opera film produced, co-written, and directed by J. J. Abrams. It is the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, following The Force Awakens (2015) and The Last Jedi (2017), and the final episode of the nine-part "Skywalker saga". It was produced by Lucasfilm and Abrams's production company Bad Robot Productions, and was distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In the novelization, Rey's father is actually a failed clone of Palpatine, he does not have any Force powers and Palpatine despised him.

The comics did do that with a clone body but the clone was younger and Luke wasn't married.

@@theanimeunderworld8338 Plus Palpatine was never able to come back at full power. He was weaker each time he was resurrected. I mean, his last death was from being shot in the back by Han. Snot in the back with a blaster! He never succeeded at becoming as powerful as he once was. It definitely didn’t diminish Anakin’s sacrifice because Palpatine was no longer a threat to the balance. He never succeeded in regaining his former power, either politically or in terms of the force.

Without precise calculations we could fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it? *Rise of Skywalker:* F--k it! We're gonna' jump 19 times without a single calculation! ONWARD, PLOT! ... I kept imagining Han solo's voice paralleling his line about the Force, "That's not how hyperspace works!"

For all we know, hyperdrive tech could have progressed a bit in the decades that passed since the original trilogy. Han was the type of guy to outfit his ship with extra upgrades and gizmos. However, the maneuver did manage to set fire to the Falcon, so it seems like Finn broke its design specs anyway.

I think there's some Star Wars lore that explains how Palpatine has a bunch of clones of himself (including the "cultists" surrounding the throne room), and that Rey is the child of a defective Palpatine clone who I guess decided to flee and got married thereafter. As the Birdman said, Rey is both the daughter AND granddaughter of Palpatine ...

The prequels had awful writing and almost no chemistry between characters, but they had more ambitious worldbuilding, imagination and creative juices. There's a reason why people keep talking about them, in spite of their many flaws.

Despite the piss you could take on the dialogue and the plot, it did yeah have interesting ideas that just weren't executed well enough. The over all story arc of how Palps manipulated Anikin into joining the dark side is actually quite good, and one of the few good things about the prequels, the scene where he kills all the sand people, and when he is torn about what to do about Palps (when he and Amidala are both troubled and starting off into the City, right before he decides to go back to see what is happening to Palps now that the Jedi know he's a Sith) are excellent, and I still think Episode III is a good, but not great movie,

What I find rather fitting is that as this train wreck of a trilogy comes to a close, in its wake has some small but really impressive works such as Jedi fallen order and the mandalorian. Both stories are even set in the the aftermath of harsh times.

In force awekens we got runin from the war Fin and war adventurer Poe. Each can lern some thing from the other(Fin to be a hero not coward or imperial thug and Poe that war aint fun -even troopers like Fin die and nothing funny in that). Ruin Jonson kill that plot by Rose and Jar Jar Abrams let the past die (Rose and that part of the plot). Didnt like Rose but didnt see the point of cutting her out. Why lost time to force new characters if you have some unused characters?

Kylo Ren died for his actions: I wouldn't go so far to say he redeemed himself, but he did embrace the Light which motivated him to eventually do the right thing. He also had severe family issues, admired his grandfather Darth Vader thanks to Snoke's influence on him, and was nearly murdered by his uncle on a midnight whim. Personally, it just reminds me of what Anakin said, "From my perspective, it's the Jedi that are evil."

It would have been more meaningful within the film to make healing a skill of the dark side of the force like creating life and draining life, too. In fact healing force power existed long in Star Wars Games and Comics etc. (like the dagger btw. as well - the dagger exists in the Star wars Expanded universe) But from a movie point of view it would have underlined the message of the 8th movie that Jedi and Sith are ambivalent and that Jedi did not know the force power. This alone would have fixed a lot. And much more could have been fixed with surprising unorthodox ways like actually showing anakin to talk to kylo ren as his symbol but the movie acted like: Please no prequel references ever. The whole sequel trilogy had the secret message not to care about the prequels too much beside here and there some quotes of palpatine as he never had said them in the first movie trilogy.

Same goes ability to transfer life (Darth Nihilus). Disney just brought those ideas from eu into canon. Plus I have always seen force same as musical hearing for example. In LOTR, there's a line where Pippin (initially inseparable from Merry) asks Aragorn about stopping for breakfast. Aragorn replies that they've already had breakfast. Pippin replies "We've had one, yes, but what about second breakfast?" Admittedly, it's not Merry's line, but to those who remember the line, it's a pretty clever reference.

I had the same thought after seeing it... Kylo is the far more interesting character. Rey could have given the life force back, or she could have actually made the sacrifice heal and given Kylo the chance at redemption. Then the Kylo story could continue as someone who's hated and feared, yet seeking a different path. yeah I wrote this in 1 minute. Shame the people being paid for this can't do the same.

Why did they kill off Ben? He's the last Skywalker left after Leia dies, yet he dies and Palpatine basically won by wiping out the Skywalker blood line..the Skywalkers don't really get a happy ending which feels weird. Death does not equal redemption..Plus he was the best part of the sequel trilogy imo.

Thank you. Honestly, if there is anything I want going forward with Star Wars, it’s for them to completely move past anything to do with the Skywalkers, Palpatines, Jedis, Siths etc. Create a completely original story with new characters within the Star Wars universe and mythos

The Sequel Trilogy would have certainly been far more interesting, perhaps even entertaining, had Disney done this, but we both know that would have never happened. Disney just wanted to play on nostalgia and ride the coattails of what came before. I think this is best illustrated by the fact that throughout the entire trilogy, Rey uses Anakin’s lightsaber, which was also Luke’s first lightsaber. Even when it is broken, she just fixes it instead of creating a lightsaber of her own. It perfectly symbolizes the fact that the Sequels largely lack their own identity in favor of rehashing old ideas and repeating the same struggle between rebels and an oppressive empire that defined the OT.

main problem, Anakin: "He must stand a fair trial." not even 10 minutes of screentime (and like 1 in movie day) later... Anakin: *Ruthlessly slaughters younglings at the drop of a hat.* George: " Alright, no matter what. He has to be totally evil Vader by the end of the movie." Essentially, they look at the track record and realise that it's the Mean-Girls level of backstabbing that stops the Sith from being great. In gamess like the old republic, Dark side sith double down on the fascism with emphasis on blood purity and segregation and, in the Old Republic's world, the Sith Scion wants the Sith ideals to win but realises that their methods are what hurts their goals. They're not going to be walking in nature with children anytime soon but these guys want to offer second chances and pull power moves like offering the parents of Jedi Padawans a means of escaping poverty.

18:00 umm, I certainly wouldn't say that Carrie fishers death came out of nowhere, seeing as she had been a drug addict for the majority of her life as well as a heavy drinker, not to mention that she died of a heart attack. Therefore, it is easy to assume that her death at age 60 unfortunate as it was, certainly could have been avoided had she received help from a therapist.

C-3PO's "last words" were to a group he barely knew. The old trio is dead. The Skywalkers are all dead, and their name stolen by a Palpatine. Anakin's lightsaber is buried in sand. Both this and The Last Jedi spend too much time introducing new characters and ideas and doing nothing with them, while barely or not at all developing already established ones.

I feel if they were going to go that route they could have just gone hundreds to thousands of years in the future with the old main crew dead or written into legend. If they cut out the unbalanced attempts to give both sets of characters screen time maybe we could've had some more actual character with the new cast. You can still do the relation thing just have them be a descendent, or at least have one of them think they are a descendent.

You guys *do* realize that a)Padme was not injured,she died of sorrow because Anakin was already turning to the Dark Side b)even if she could be cured and he knew how,they were in 2 different places 3)Palpatine had *all the reasons* to NOT LET Anakin knowing about the heal power and/or learn it because he *wanted* him to turn to the Dark Side?🤨Only because a power *exists* doesn't mean EVERYONE must know it/be able to use it/be *in condition* to use it!

I am not angry or anything I just want to mention that your logic is flawed. He initally dreamed of padame dying due to a medical conditon. If he could transfer his lifeforce even after her death and it was a basic skill as it is shown in this movie (Rey who has so little training is able to call upon it with only her will power) Palpatine would not be able to hide such a power thats only fruition is a basic desire to heal someone you care for via the force. Nor could the Jedi. He would have no reason to turn to the darkside and padame would not lose her will to live. Also his mother would have lived. Qui gon too actually.. And a great number of fallen jedi during order 66. Regardless of this singular plot hole I would hate for a fan to get distracted and miss the real truth beyond the screen. I like to say to sum up the disney saga 'In the begining George Lucas sought out the money to tell his story, as his life comes to a close, Disney sought his story for the money.' I do hope and know many people find things to enjoy in these movies, but for me personally my caring for Geroge Lucas compels me to face the truth of what Star Wars is going through right now. It is a major shift but I know the love for the franchise is holding strong and even after my hopes were dashed with these new films the fans and friends still inspire me everyday.

@@Nicamon Yeah, personally I always thought Anakin wasn't just looking for a way to heal her in a bind, he was obsessed with protecting her constantly. What he sought was clinical immortality. And Sidious wasn't even lying when he said that's a power you can't learn from a Jedi, because you definitely can't. Jedi don't cheat death, they accept it. And being a Force ghost isn't immortality, they clearly can't just do whatever they want. Even if they could, you can't make a Force ghost someone who's not a Force user.

@@kirstinpotts4387 In the vision we only see Padme in pain,we don't know why she's dying.Anakin *says* she was dying in childbirth,but he could have simply misinterpretaded his own vision.Padme *did* die right after giving birth to the twins,after all,but the point is that *the childbirth was NOT the thing that made her die!* THIS is what Anakin couldn't know.He couldn't know the real reason behind Padme's death would have been her sorrow in seeing him turning to the Dark Side. And about her mother...Anakin was like 19 during"Attack of the Clones"..Kylo is 29 during"The Force Awakens"...MAYBE he had learned something more in those 10 years...no one ever said it was"a basic skill".That's what *you* think.
