I think that the world that they intended to use originally, was not Exegol but Rakata Prime. Let me explain: if you take a look at the Force Awakens visual dictionary, you can see two worlds in the unknown regions; Starkiller Base and Rakata Prime. However if you take a look on the Last Jedi visual dictionary, Rakata Prime isn't there anymore (Starkiller Base isn't there as well but it makes sense as it was destroyed but there was literally no reason to remove the other planet) and by the time of Episodie 9 visual dictionary there was only Exegol. I think that the original plan was that Snoke was broadcasting his transmitions from Rakata Prime, but they scrapped that idea in the Last Jedi when they revealed Snoke in the Supremacy Mega-class Star Destroyer. The idea of an ancient hidden world was clearly JJ's and was introduced again in TROS under the name of Exegol (instead of Rakata Prime) and the Big Bad there was Palpatine (instead of Snoke). Basically, if the Last Jedi never existed, we may have had a coherent (by no means perfect) storyline that at least didn't destroy Star Wars as a whole.

Considering the beginning of this video and what BB-8 was doing in TLJ I think it's only fair if it was BB-8 who kills Palpatine at the end of this movie. Never underestimate a droid.

The reason they decide to kill off admiral ackbar was because the original voice actor of him (ERIK BAUERFELD, 93) died shortly after the release of The Force Awakens in 2016. They killed him off out of the respect for the VO so they had no choice but to kill him off in The Last Jedi.

This is why Disney should've just hired Steven Spielberg - a personal friend of George, to direct the WHOLE trilogy (one director, one vision.) Furthermore, hire George Lucas to keep the lore and world building consistent. Let him help where he wants but don't overburden him. Incorporate his original ideas for the Sequel trilogy. This is what should've happened and has in an alternate universe where common sense still exists.

Dude you make a minor mistake towards the end of this video: you assume JJ had anytning planned as payoffs to what he setup in the Force Awakens. That's not how Abrams Mystery Boxes work! Just like lost, he never bothered to plan how to end the story he began. It's the hardest part so he just leaves to the schmucks who come after to figure it out, which would have been Colin Trevorer if Rian hadn't screw it up even further than Abrams did.

All they had to do for Palpatine was have a scene where, due to his dark side powers, he COULD KEEP HIMSELF from dying as a chunk of the death star flew and crashed into wherever it ended up. Basically, all that was left of him was a torso that he used dark side powers to sustain and prevent from dying, and he called out to others to come and help him restore himself. Or Kylo found what was left of him after finding Darth Vaders mutilated helmet.
